Not really.  He has nothing to do with this year's schedule.

I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE

LOL Smazzie!!!

This might be NEWS to you...but Urban Meyer has NOTHING to do with their SEC Schedule.

Plus, UF's games vs USM and UCF were signed a LONG, time ago.

Believe the Div I-AA Western Carolina game was signed last year when the NCAA approved a 12th game.

That's the first UF game the Gators will play that Meyer helped "schedule".

KL

PS. Did you really think a SEC Coach can "request" different SEC Teams to play every year?  ;D

Meyer has limited ability to request opponents. He has made some requests, but that won't happen for years because of how contracts are worked.

I think the only influence he had for this year's schedule was deciding which bye week to give up for the 12th game.

bulls96go,

It's not really possible for UF to dumb down our schedule like ND. We play FSU every year and the SEC. Those 9 games alone will put our schedule in the top 10 every year, regardless of what we do with our other 3 OOC games.

These schedules are made years in advance.  The division games are set and the West division games are picked by the commish.  The I-AA game, Western Carolina, was their only addition since he got there.

Actually, even the West Division games are set well in advance.

Each team has a single opposite division "rival" that they play every year. For Florida, it's LSU. The other two rotate at a preset schedule that is determined every 10 years.

Even the commish doesn't really decide your opponents since you play everyone in a rotating basis.

Rivals were primarily decided by history. UF's biggest cross division rivals were Auburn and LSU. So during the original division split, those were the two permanent opponents (only one team rotation from 1992-2001). Once they changed it to a two team rotation, Auburn's rivalry with Georgia had higher priority over their rivalry with Florida so that was the game UF lost.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
