I think that the C-USA is a little over-hyped, while the Big East is under-rated.

Maybe Tulsa is that good, but to have UCF and UTEP in front of USF is an insult to our program, especially after what we did last year. Most media have jumped on the UCF band-wagon because the went 8-5 in C-USA against East Carolina, Houston, and Rice.

USF on the other hand went 6-6 against a much better schedule that included 7 bowl teams, Penn St, UCF, Louisville, Miami, Rutgers, West Virginia, and NC State. That record is very decieving and to say USF was an ok team is a shame.

But when its all said and done this is a PRE-SEASON poll, which the reporters often change quickly after the first week of games. So let's just see how it all plays out.

This is not meant as a flame, but all that USF did last year was beat a flat Louisville team.  USF went 6-6 in a conference that is viewed as a two team conference.  USF went 7-1 in a conference that is viewed by most as a strong Mid-major.  UCF is also returning basically our entire team.  USF lost is most productive back in team history and doesn't have a consistent quarterback.

With that being said, I agree with you about preseason polls.  Look at Bama in 2000 (Ranked #3 in the preseason)...

Bottom Line - It's where you finish, not where you start.  Polls like this (done before the summer even begins) is just around to give junkies like us a quick fix until the season starts...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
