Is there anything of note close to the stadium?

Close to the stadium?  What do you want restaurants, or places to stay or both?  

Here is the best part of Tampa.  The stadium is 5 minutes from the airport, and there are about a dozen hotels within that vicinity.

If your looking for ease then stay at the Courtyard Marriott off of BoyScout/Spruce and Lois.  In front of the hotel is the wonderful LeeRoy Selmon's BBQ Restaurant, Flemings Steakhouse, and Roy's.  If its more you want, then around the corner is Houlihan's, and Ruth's Chris.  Not enough?  Across the street is the International Plaza that has Cheesecake Factory, and some great restaurants, and nightlife.  All of those restaurants are walking from the hotel.  

The best part, is the hotel is about a $5 cab ride from the airport, its 2 miles from the airport!!  To top it off, you could walk from the airport to the stadium, its about 3 miles, if its too far then pay a five dollar cab ride to the game.

That's as convenient as you can get!
