at least according the articles I've read Griffin is only a candidate. IMO he is a longshot for various reasons:

1. There is a strong sentiment among Tech faithful to find an AD with energy and vision. Griffin is a terrific administrator but he is not the rah-rah kind of guy Tech boosters want.

2. Griffin's past will be scrutinized heavily in a city as diverse as the ATL. Griffin did a lot of wonderful things at USF but he is not blameless in the Jerry Winters fiasco.

3.  Griffin has no proven track record of running a major conference athletic department. Will he effective in communicating to influential alumni and boosters? Unless he has changed....I don't see him gladhanding with fans.
