He's also one QB away from the Sugar Bowl.  Jim stays.

you dont get any awards for being "one QB away", much less "one offensive coordinator away"... sorry

what the hell are you smoking fire CJL.......... for one bad game remember this team went 4-7 last year and now we are going to a bowl game

we were 4-7 last year under JIM LEAVITT.. and now we go to the "I'veNeverHeardOfItBefore.com Bowl", hardly an achievement to strive for...

this year, o'leary takes a UCF team that went WINLESS the year before to the title game of c-usa and possibly the c-usa crown, the SAME CONFERENCE that leavitt went 4-7.. there is NO EXCUSE for jim last year and this year

First off, I don't give a rat's ass about what O'Leary has done and niether should YOU.  After we destroyed them on the field, that comparison is now null and void.

But are you really that stupid?  We went 4-7 last year for the PRECISE reason that Leavitt played all his kids to get them the experience they'd need to go to a bowl game THIS year in the Big East, a much MUCH tougher conference than C-USA.  O'Leary's been playing his kids now for two years, and they're finally in a weak enough conference where they can produce some wins.  Whoopee!

Don't forget also that C-USA's strongest programs left to go to the BE.  We had to play UL, Cincy (when they were loaded with seniors) every year.  UCF had to play Rice.

Give me a break, Cee.  You're like my little brother.  You see what you want to see and you hear what you want to hear, and you get stuck in your own little version of "reality" that you refuse to come out of.

Yeah, not going to the Sugar Bowl sucked, but losing CJL because you're on the rag would be 1000x worse.

Actually, no.

Last year, they had TCU, Louisville, and Cincy.

Replaced with SMU, UTEP, Tulsa, and Rice.

And we BEAT UCF, so screw them.

Yes, let's burn Grothe's redshirt with two games left  because Cee thinks that Julmiste isn't cutting the mustard after ten games.  Brilliant.  This is why Leavitt is the coach and you're a drooling retard.

Here's a news flash... Rod Smith is our offensive coordinator because he's who we can AFFORD.  Until you start ponying up some big time donation cash, Cee, you have zero authority to tell anyone who to fire and hire.  You want to help USF football?  Open your pockets and shut your mouth.

Pretty harsh and totally uncouth!  Cee is a highly respected contributor to this board and he's the undisputed People's Champ!

spare me.  when you are building a program for the bottom up, you dont have time for delaying gratification, you gotta win and you gotta win NOW.. i dont care what conference you are in.. and obviously, leavitt didnt "play his kids" the year before they entered c-usa so that he'd get them the experience they'd need for c-usa either.. remember, usf couldve gone bowling in c-usa too, but leavitt didnt hold back the troops in their final season as 1A independents.. you put the best players on the field to play at all times, there is no room for error when you are trying to get your program on the map

CJL messed up, its as simple as that.. he messed up recruiting offensive players (especially QBs), getting his team mentally ready (as you can see with their chronic problem with penalties, even when they win), and he messed up in hiring his staff (see rod smith)

Johnnie Jones and Tim Jones ASKED to redshirt. Did they not?

It was a genius decision to hold them back. This year's defense needed the leadership, and it proved to be the right decision.

they asked and CJL should have denied them.. thanks jones brothers for your time, but we dont need anymore 1AA/1A independent recruits on this roster.  out with the old, in with the new..

But they PROVED on the field it was the right choice.

No matter how much you're blinded by your hatred for Leavitt, you have to look at the facts.

Last year's defense was lacking in leadership. This year's was full of it. The defense is not as good, talent wise, as it is mentally.
