Damien Rhodes ran for 236 yards and scored four touchdowns, leading Syracuse to a 31-0 victory over Buffalo on Saturday at Syracuse, N.Y., for Greg Robinson's first victory as coach of the Orange.

The Bulls (0-2) were shut out for the third consecutive game dating back to last season.

Rhodes' rushing total was 16 yards shy of the school record of 252 yards by Joe Morris against Kansas in 1979.

Rhodes gained 216 yards on 19 carries and scored three times in the first half to help the Orange (1-1) take a 24-0 halftime lead. He scored on runs of 27, 50, and 54 yards, the last one equaling the Bulls' offensive production for the half.

West Virginia 35, Wofford 7: Adam Bednarik had a touchdown pass and ran for another score to lead the Mountaineers (2-0) past the Division I-AA Terriers (1-1) at Morgantown, W.Va.

Connecticut 59, Liberty 0: The Huskies (2-0) scored the first eight times they had the ball at East Hartford, Conn., and routed the Division I-AA Flames (1-1). Connecticut amassed 600 yards in offense, 376 on the ground. Tailback Cornell Brockington rushed for three touchdowns and 115 yards. Terry Caulley added 71 yards and a touchdown.

Rutgers 38, Villanova 6: Ryan Hart passed for 234 yards and a touchdown at Piscataway, N.J., as the Scarlet Knights (1-1) beat the Wildcats (0-1) to snap a six-game losing streak.

South Florida 37, Florida A&M 3: Andre Hall ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Bulls (1-1) past the Rattlers (0-2) at Tampa, Fla.

Rhodes jumped out to lead the conference so far, we'll see how he does when conference play starts.
