OT: Spare a thought for Louisiana

I don't know if you guys have heard, but Louisiana is about to be crushed by hurrican Katrina, which has grown to a monster catagory 5 with 175mph as of 11am today.  It could get even stronger before landfall.  What's odd is that this was the little hurricane that tapped South Florida.

From the path it's taking, there may not be too much of New Orleans left Baton Rouge is next.  I know there is a user or two from Louisiana and if you have family there, I hope they get out safely cause it isn't going to be pretty.

Most of my family left at sunrise this morning, although there are a few holdouts that have always lived in the bayou and just won't leave.  My wife is very happy that we moved this summer, and don't have to worry about these things.

Hopefully, I won't have to take a week off work to go down and help clean up and rebuild...

my father in law lives on the west bank about 1/3 mile from the river.... he stayed... finally heard from him this afternoon... tree in front yard landed on house.. holes in roof in living room.. all 3 bedrooms... and master bathroom... blew out all the windows on the front.. and flooding left him with 8 inches of water in the house.. pumps went on around 4pm his time... was down to 3 inches when he called...
