UCFs Christian dismissed

Marquette transfer Carlton Christian (SG) has been dismissed from the Golden Knight basketball team per the Orlando Sentinel.

He spent a year sitting out because he was a DI transfer - all that waiting only to screw it up by cutting class.  I hope the kid gets his head on straight - for his sake.

UCF is pretty deep in the backcourt, but he would have definitely been a contributor.

JUST for cutting class?? There must be a little more to it than that ............. and please, save the holier than thou speeches for the other board, I'm not trying to start something.

Seriously - that's all I (non insiders) seem to know.  Check our rivals board.  

There may be more - which obviously is all encompassed in the "violation of team rules" but a lack of concern for academics is all I've read about - including from one poster who did have an "insider" on the issue.

On the other hand - Kirk has run a tight ship so far, we've had recent academic problems in football and mens soccer, and we are pretty deep in the guard spot - and despite the success, Kirk can only feel so comfortable in his job after the firing of the mens soccer coach and not yet proving anything outside of the A-Sun.  Maybe Kirk just thought it was the best thing.

I'm pretty rational on this board..so I'll post back if anything else does come out.  But for now, its what it is.

Lotsa koolaid on the UCF Rivals board, so the real reason could be anything.  I too find it hard to believe that they kicked a transfer loose for cutting a few classes in the summer.

I was reading the prospectus and all and it looked like he was 2nd string at best.  Any loss of a player is bad, but at least he isn't a starter.
