in both events that have been highly publiciized with Wie playing, she has choked.  The last major when she was close to the lead and this weekend when she was above the cut line, she choked, plain and simple.  

No doubt she has won several amateur events already, but that doesnt mean she is ready to play on the PGA tour.  The only reason she is even playing with the men is as a pure publicity stunt by sponsors because they realized this tournament would have received zero attention if she wasnt in it.  If she can qualify for the tournaments, more power to her, but until then stick to the tournaments you are qualified for.

She was more qualified than about 50 guys evidently, since she shot better than over 40% of the people who entered the event.

And judging by the 5000 people who followed her around the back nine yesterday, the tournament sponsors had the right idea when they invited her to play.

It's not like she's cheating some other deserving player out of a slot, either - it's a sponsor's exemption, which means the sponsor can invite whoever the heck they want. If the Dali Lama wants to tee it up out there, they could invite them too. Most of the time they just invite some local college player or someone who will connect with the fans, like a big name who is going to draw fan interest. I guess they didn't go wrong, did they?
