15 year old wie is giving men a run for their money

except she choked down the stretch

She would have been 2nd-youngest EVER, male or female to make a PGA cut.

She won the US Women's Public Links amateur title 2 years ago, next week she's competing in the men's version.

And she's only 15!

She is certainly a prodigy... for a 15 year old to compete with adults in any sport is incredible, pair that with being a 6'2 girl... she is a freak of nature.  She was at 4 under with 4 holes to go, i thought it was in the bag.

She is a very talented young girl, but she needs to play in junior events instead of mens PGA.  She has never made the cut (even tiger missed it 8 times).  Win the US amature a few times, then go after the PGA.

She has done well enough in the amateur ranks to deserve to play on a pro tour (the LPGA, that is), but she has only had some brief glimpses of success then fell apart in ladies events.  I like that she has that fire to want to take on the best at all times, and to her, she thinks she can compete with at least most of the guys, but it is a media sideshow.  It is, to the sponsors, a publicity stunt, whether or not it is to her.  One day, she will likely be the most dominant golfer in the world.  Her game at 15 is BETTER than tiger was at 15.  And if she plays LPGA events primarily, she will destroy all the records that Annika is setting, or in the process of setting, now.

well this makes two monumental chokes in a row for her... at the last LPGA major she was hovering around the lead going into the last round and then shot like +8 or something.  Yesterday she was two strokes above the cut line with 4 holes to go and finished 2 shots below the cut line.  

she needs to play some amateur events and the LPGA more until she can be consistent at these big time events that she has continually underperformed at

But, in her defense... she's 15!  is it really unexpected to choke?  She has to learn to handle the pressure, but I think she is doing that.  I too prefer she would stick to the LPGA, for now anyway.

She has already won the US Women's amateur title - two years ago. I really don't understand when people say she needs to win juniors, because she has been winning tournaments in Hawaii since she was 12. Do some research and don't just listen to the talking heads on TV.

And how can you say she choked, she came in 2nd in the LPGA last month and has other top-10 finishes in women's major events. How long did it take Annika to win her first LPGA major?

It took Tiger Woods 8 tries before he made the cut as an amateur, yet you think Michelle Wie is choking when she comes close in her first three PGA tournaments?
