The redshirt-freshman was named a Baseball America First Team All-American on June 26, a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team Freshman All-American on June 12 and a Perfect Game/Rawlings First Team Freshman All-American on June 15. He is one of three American Athletic Conference players on the list and the only member on the first team. McClanahan posted a 4-2 record for the 42-19 Bulls with a 3.20 ERA in his first season. The lefty made 15 starts, striking out 104 batters in just 76.0 innings pitched. His 12.32 strikeouts per nine innings ranked eighth in the country and led the American Athletic Conference. He allowed just 5.68 hits per nine innings to lead the league and rank ninth nationally. McClanahan became the 16th USF baseball player to be recognized as a freshman All-American and the first since infielder Kevin Merrell (Odessa, Fla.) was selected to the NCBWA Second-Team in 2015.
