TAMPA, MAY 4, 2017 – University of South Florida head men's basketball coach Brian Gregory and his staff announced the signing of 6-foot-7 guard TJ Lang to a financial aid agreement on Thursday.

A native of Mobile, Ala., Lang is a transfer from Auburn, where he played his first three seasons. Lang averaged five points per game and was regarded as a lockdown defender for the Tigers. He will sit out the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer rules but will have one year of eligibility remaining.

“We are very pleased to have TJ join the program at the University of South Florida,” said Gregory. “His experience and success at the highest level of college basketball will be a great asset to this program over the next two years. As we continue to build our talent-base, a multi-position player like TJ will give us a lot of flexibility both offensively and defensively. He comes from a great basketball family, and because of that, brings the characteristics we look for in our student-athletes.”

TJ's father, Antonio, played at Duke (1990-94), winning the 1991 and 1992 National Championship. His dad played in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and overseas.

Lang joins Justin Brown, David Collins and Nikola Scekic in Coach Gregory's first signing class at USF.

We will beout of schollies, once everybody who gave USF a verbal signs.

There are still five such players who have not been officially confirmed by USF.

Lang was already counted here as one of the nine new players in this class.
