The Bulls (16-1) gave ace Phoenix Sanders (Gainesville, Fla.) run support early with five runs on the Crimson (7-4) in the second and third innings. Junior Duke Stunkel Jr. (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) doubled down the left field line in the second, then was brought home a couple pitches later on classmate David Villar’s (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) opposite field blast. USF added one more to take a 3-0 lead into the third. The Bulls made it 5-0 in the bottom of the third inning on a Luke Borders (Winter Haven, Fla.) two-run blast to right field that landed on top of the batting cages. The Crimson plated runs in the fourth and eighth, but the Bulls added insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth on another two-run jack. After Villar walked, sophomore Chris Chatfield (Riverview, Fla.) sent a moon shot to right field that cleared the scoreboard and landed on the Josephine Ramil Campo Batting Facility, making it 7-2. USF tacked on another in the frame before a quick ninth sealed the deal. Key Stats Sophomore Coco Montes (Miami) went 4-for-5 to lead all players, recording a new career-high in base knocks. Borders’s bomb was his third of the season, as was Chatfield’s. Villar’s was his first of the year. Chatfield clubbed a career-high three hits, scored two runs and drove in two. Sanders struck out double-digit batters and logged 7.0 innings for the second-straight outing. Notables The Bulls 15-game winning streak is the second longest in program history and the second-longest active streak in the nation. The Bulls tallied at least 14 hits for the fifth time in the last six games. Up Next The Bulls and Crimson will play a double-header tomorrow that begins at 2:00 p.m. The first game will be seven innings and the second will be nine.
