Niemann becomes world number three in top 10 revamp

  • Joaquin%20Niemann.ashx?h=200&la=en&w=300Chile’s Joaquim Niemann moves to third on the World Amateur Golf RankingTM in a much-changed top 10. Niemann, who recently finished second in the Latin American Amateur Championship, rises two spots to replace England’s Sam Horsfield, who drops to fourth. Austria’s Matias Schwab is the other casualty of Niemann’s improvement. Schwab, runner-up in the 2012 Amateur Championship, drops to fifth. Americans Dylan Meyer and Noah Goodwin along with Cheng Jin of China all rise one place to seventh, eighth and ninth respectively as a result of Amateur Champion Scott Gregory’s falling three places to 10th.

Next season should be a banner year for USF Men's Golf.

We still have a lot of work to do this spring to make it back to the NCAA finals for the third straight year.

USF kicks off the spring season at the Gator Invitational on Feb 18th .

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
