It seems like every QB we ever offered who went elsewhere is jinxed.  ;D

ROUNDUP: MSU, QB Reaves cut ties; he'll likely play elsewhere

May 10, 2005

Sophomore quarterback Stephen Reaves is leaving Michigan State.

"His request for release has been granted," associate athletic director John Lewandowski said Monday.

Reaves, 20, likely will transfer to another Division I school, forcing him to sit out next season. The Tampa native might look at schools in his home state. Among the schools that offered him scholarships out of high school were Auburn, Louisville, South Florida and Wake Forest.

Reaves, son of former Florida All-America quarterback John Reaves, was charged April 27 with drunken driving and unlawfully displaying a license. He earlier had been charged with two other alcohol-related offenses.

Though he did not criticize Reaves publicly, MSU coach John L. Smith dropped him on the depth chart after last season for his academic performance.

Reaves, who started two games early last season, competed with redshirt freshman Brian Hoyer and true freshman Domenic Natale for the backup spot in spring practice. Last season, Reaves passed for 331 yards and two touchdowns, with five interceptions, after redshirting his freshman year.

Reaves didn't return calls seeking comment.

I don't think we want this one.

I agree also, but I'm sure that the next article will say he's looking to transfer to USF. My guess is that he winds up at UCF.

He'll wind up at UCF or FAU.

I don't have verification but I heard that he burned a bridge at USF.

There's an article at the MSU Scout site that says that he might end up at one of the "minor Florida schools like USF or UCF".  When I get moved up to Michigan at the end of the month I'm gonna find this guy and b*tchslap him.  Oh yeah, and smack a Bulls bumper sticker on his forehead!
