The Mountaineers led the BIG EAST Conference with three players chosen in the seven rounds of the two-day draft held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.        In addition to Jones, West Virginia had two other players selected in the draft – wide receiver Chris Henry who was chosen in the third round, 83rd overall, by the Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback/wide receiver Rasheed Marshall who was selected in the fifth round, 174th overall, by the San Francisco 49ers.       Connecticut had two players drafted.  Linebacker Alfred Fincher was a third-round choice, 82nd overall, by the New Orleans Saints.  Fincher was the first Husky drafted since 1994, when Paul Duckworth was chosen in the sixth round by the Green Bay Packers. Quarterback Dan Orlovsky was chosen in the fifth round of the draft, 145th overall, by the Detroit Lions.        Syracuse and Pittsburgh each had one player selected in the draft.  SU offensive tackle Adam Terry was the second BIG EAST player chosen, going in the second round (64th overall) to the Baltimore Ravens.  Panther offensive tackle Rob Petitti was chosen in the draft’s sixth round, 209th overall, by the Dallas Cowboys.       Temple, which concluded its final season in the BIG EAST this past season, also had one player chosen.  Linebacker Rian Wallace was drafted in the fifth round, 166th overall, by the Pittsburgh Steelers.       Incoming 2005 BIG EAST members Louisville and Cincinnati had a combined nine players selected in the draft – six Cardinal players and three Bearcats.  The Louisville players selected were running back Eric Shelton (2nd round, 54th overall pick by the Carolina Panthers), quarterback Stefan LeFors (4th round, 121st overall pick by the Carolina Panthers), safety Kerry Rhodes (4th round, 123rd pick by the NY Jets), linebacker Robert McCune (5th round, 154th pick by the Washington Redskins), running back Lionel Gates (7th round, 236th pick by the Buffalo Bills), and wide receiver J.R. Russell (7th round, 253rd pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers).   Cincinnati’s three players chosen were defensive end Trent Cole (5th round, 146th pick by the Philadelphia Eagles), linebacker Tyjuan Hagler (5th round, 173rd pick by the Indianapolis Colts) and cornerback Daven Holly (7th round, 215th pick by the San Francisco 49ers).
