Schaeffer Ousted from program!!

I didn't see this posted anywhere, and perhaps Howie or someone can pull it out of the Ledger Website, but Brent Schaeffer was dismissed from the VOLS along with team touchdown leading receiver Smith for assulting another male student that got into an argument with Scaeffer's girlfriend.  They picked up bats and started to go after him but then dropped them and picked this guy up off the ground and slammed him to the floor. He was taken to  the hospital where the wounds to his head were closed with surgical staples. It was partially caught on tape.  

I'm not sure if the suspension is permenent or not at this point.

Just another case of kids not making smart decisions (meaning coming to USF) ;D ;D ;D

Are we putting some kind of whammy or hex on every big name QB that passes us up for another program? McPherson, Shaeffer...I see a trend. Mr. Ingram, you'd better be cautious!!

Two More Vols Charged with Assault

UT Campus, Knoxville (WVLT) - After being charged with assault, two UT football players find themselves in hot water.

A fight on the Tennessee campus left one man injured and two Vols in custody.

Sports Overtime's Daryl Hobby has the latest from UT Campus.

At roughly 5:30 Sunday morning, UT Police found themselves at Clement Hall to investigate a fight.

Later that day, their investigation led to the arrests of Vol quarterback Brent Schaeffer and wide receiver Bret Smith.  They are charged with misdemeanor assault, and are accused of hitting Quantavious Emerson.

The players were soon released and will have their arraignments next Monday.

Part of the incident was caught on tape by a video camera in the dorm lobby.  According to the police report, the tape shows Emerson carrying a bat toward Schaeffer and then later in the tape, Schaeffer is seen throwing Emerson to the ground, causing a gash on Emerson's head.   Smith is not seen on the video tape.

Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer has suspended both Schaeffer and Smith saying “the two made a bad social decision and were poor representatives of the team.â€Â

The Vols will miss the school’s final two practices as well as Saturday's annual Orange and White Game.
