USF Volleyball Announces 2016 Schedule, Ticket Plans

The Bulls will host two tournaments and a Sun Dome match this season

TAMPA, JULY 8, 2016 – University of South Florida head volleyball coach Courtney Draper and her staff released the Bulls’ 2016 schedule and ticket plans on Friday.

The season will feature 30 matches including 16 at The Corral. Most notably, the Bulls will host two home tournaments (Sept. 2-3Sept. 16-17) and a Sun Dome match against geographical rival, UCF, on Nov. 2.

The 45th season of USF volleyball begins at the Charlotte Invitational. The Bulls will compete against Campbell in the opener on Aug. 26 and then match up against Mercer and the host, Charlotte 49ers, on Aug. 27.

The USF Invitational will be held on Sept. 2-3 and include Florida Atlantic, Georgetown, New Mexico, Stetson, and Western Carolina. There will be 10 matches over a span of two days at The Corral.

The Bulls will then travel to Chicago the following weekend to participate in the DePaul Invitational against the host, Blue Demons, as well as UIC and Albany, the 2015 America East regular season co-champions.

The USF Classic will be held on Sept. 16-17. Stetson, Wright State and LIU Brooklyn will be the teams visiting The Corral for this tournament.

American Athletic Conference play begins when the Bulls play at UCF (Sept. 21). USF’s first home conference match will come against Memphis (Sept. 25).

Some highlights of the conference schedule include a home match against SMU, the 2015 regular season champions, on Oct. 21. The Bulls won a road match against the Mustangs last season.

USF will also host Cincinnati (Oct. 29) and Temple (Nov. 20), another pair of teams that posted top 100 RPIs in 2015. The Temple match will also serve as the Bulls’ final home contest of the season.

USF will end the regular season with a pair of road matches at Houston (Nov. 23) and at Tulane (Nov. 25).

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
