  1. A season and a half later and this is still a terribly coached football team.
  2. I wonder if their backup QB getting pinched for assault will be a distraction on the short week and move the line down. He played quite a bit in the SMU blowout and Tuberville will have to address this all week.
  3. I have seen the line as high as 11.5 and I just grabbed it at 11.
  4. Great to see this comeback. We are probably slightly better than this Tulsa team. We will probably close this out , beat SMU and finish with 4 wins this year.
  5. Yes it's great to see but Tulsa is not a good team and is regressing back to what they really are. Hope this helps with the team 2nd half confidence issues.

Vision The University of South Florida is a global research university dedicated to student success and positioned for membership in the Association of American Universities (AAU). 7. The 17 point thing was really bugging me as well. I dont know if it was irony or this teams collective fate that Kloss missed late, almost like, we could not break 17 no matter what. To those with optimism: Its starting to sound a lot like those Holtz losses where we would make games competitive and while fans were frustrated about the loss, there was always just enough hope we could turn around just a few things and the team would ultimately succeed and win those type of games. There has been improvement yes, but the ceiling for this team, these coaches, this style of play just isnt high enough in my opinion. 17 points against some of the conference opponents we have upcoming will be inexcusable.
  8. Paul Wulff was hired back in January to be Offensive Coordinator. I assumed he's been calling the offensive shots.. We had an offensive coordinator last year and Taggart still called the plays. Taggart will always be heavily involved in the offense, that's what he's "known for" and lives and dies by the great Power Run offense. To start the year he did say he would not be calling the plays and leaving that to Wulff and our WR coach, but pretty sure before last week he came out and said he would have a bigger role in that moving forward. To be on the bus I ask myself, do I see that power run offense being successful in the American and the truth is I dont. It is interesting the two times it looked halfway decent this year was against big 10 teams that had quality, albeit somewhat slower units. It isnt a big play offense as of right now and does not string enough plays together to get the 25-30+ points that are needed to be scored against our conference opponents. Yea pro-style type offenses dont work in the American, just ask UCF...oh...wait Let's not pretend that the offense UCF ran last year is even remotely the same to what has been implemented thus far under Taggart. Pro style offenses work all over college football. The power run that we attempt to use on a weekly basis is only done by a handful of teams and for a reason. In two years, when all of Taggart's 3 and 4 star recruits are upperclassmen with years of experience on the field this should be a top team in the conference in any event.

  10. USF could win if UW suffers a major injury or they take this game lightly. The former I would hope doesnt happen, the latter is unlikely but possible.
  11. I believe USF will show up for this game and the team will play better away from home. Playing in front of 80k, whether they are your fans or not will be a welcome change from the Tomb @ RJS. Still gonna lose decisively but any facet of the game from USF that performs respectably will be a silver lining.
  12. My thought process is more that if we made a sincere campaign to go try and sell USF alumni on buying season tickets (even nosebleeds), we could resuscitate our attendance really quickly. Given a good season, we wouldn't lose a lot. I.e. if we could get 25k alums to commit to buying season tickets and coming to games, even a 5-7 season would probably only bring the announced attendance down to 35-40k. I think they should close the nosebleeds and offer the 2nd level of the bowl at nosebleed prices. It looks terrible on TV all spread out like that. Lower bowl capacity listed at 41,114 or thereabouts, and if that is the case, I would say that is a good number for USF to shoot for as far as "selling out" 41,114, and then maybe look at opening 3rd level. Total agreement with you. For run of the mill AAC games, 40,000 butts in seats would require USF to be undefeated or thereabouts. Must convert "Cant make the game this weekend, have laundry to do" guy.
  13. I like the Danny Fortson comp. To me, Perry doesnt appear real active down low but gets his rebounds and plenty of shot opportunities around the rim. Egbunu had the physical profile to eventually dominate the paint but Perry looked more consistent game to game in that it seemed he always got his, no matter the opponent. Unlike years past, we should be ok down low but can we hit a shot from the perimeter? damm I hope so
  14. AC's ability to control tempo is one of his biggest strengths. He tends to get those lobs to the rim for the alley oop when he goes slow and lets plays develop. He can push the team up and down at times but Ive always seen him to be most effective in half court sets, eating 25-30 seconds of the clock sometimes sitting on the ball, other times with ball movement and penetration. I realize some of this came from Heath but in an uptempo game, does that make him closer to an average PG? He is an ok shooter, gets eaten up in the paint quite often and typically has a couple unforced TOs a game. I dont see how the team is good next year as AC's abilities dont favor an uptempo game.
  15. The Patriots apparently scouted him pre-draft and one of their guys reported hes gotten up to 260lb. They have something like 7 picks today and need defensive depth. He's not going undrafted and could go early today.
  16. Who said the bowl's name had to reflect where the game is actually being played? News flash, the Outback Bowl isn't played in a restaurant .. No one did. My point is this, it smacks of being desperate that you have to brand this bowl as being a Miami Beach bowl. It isnt. Miami Beach is a small city which is a strip of sand with Miami being a much larger city with plenty of name recognition on its own. I dont fault them for doing it, but dont try and draw parallels to Sunrise and other small cities which associate with the bigger ones. This is a branding effort by a fringe conference trying to be relevant. how DARE a fringe conference try to be relevant & market it's product! Those capitalist barstards!!! Look, who cares? Miami Beach sounds cooler, and if you know the area, you know it's REAL close by. I'm sure a lot of visitors will stay in Miami Beach. I'm more troubled by the growing # of bowls...but even moreso that we haven't made even the crappiest bowl in 3 years. And if you dont know the area and want to stay close to the stadium your in for a treat. I just think its selling a bill of goods for the sake of sounding cooler and is weak, thats all. Tampa Bay bridges two major metros that are the primary markets for the team. I dont think naming this bowl for the beach is reaching out to the 20,000 retirees in Miami Beach to come out and watch it. Ill stop now as I realize my irritation with this is irrational.

  18. You mean like The "South Florida" Bulls? Hows that worked out for USF?
  19. Miami Beach bowl? Isnt this where the Miami Beach Marlins play? I didnt think so. But whatever, I suppose they have to drum up interest by selling the beach because Miami alone isnt enough draw. Yeah I know its semantics but the city of Miami Beach and where this game is being played have nothing to do with each other.
  20. The guy you know that dates/is married way above his class, usually starts out by being confident enough to ask. You never know who will say yes.
  21. K State played USF when ? Must be a USF alum somewhere in TV production with some photoshop skills
  22. Mohegan Sun is a great place to watch a New England teams sports game. I saw the Patriots beat Oakland in the 'tuck rule' game at Michael Jordan's bar there and there wasn't an unbiased fan in the house. Place erupted when they won. Id imagine it was much the same last night.
  23. From the TBO article: Antigua said in the news release. “I look forward to renewing my strong connections in the state of Florida and can’t wait to begin working towards our future success.†Any ideas what those are? I hadnt seen anything tying him to the state
  24. Was there a risk he wouldnt have taken the job? Based on the writing that suggested his wife put her career on hold to move to AZ, I wonder if he would only move for a significantly better opportunity, IE: not USF. If that was the case, there is little chance we would have risked a third offer blowing up on us.
  25. A lot of hurt butts around here. This program needs to take a swing for the fences, which they do with this hire. No one can say how this one will turn out, but I credit the AD for giving this program a chance to break out of mediocrity and not making a 'safe hire'. Tiger fan spreading worthless info like, oh hes a jerk but hasnt offered 1 substantive piece of info as to why he wont succeed. Unlike that program, our best days are AHEAD of us and this guy gives a chance to get there with his big school successes.
