  1. LOL I said that loooooong ago my friend. Would have be a little more interesting to end the year watching.
  2. At this point we could use just about anything we can get to produce some actual competition at QB. CWT is in love with White (and I think he is the best we have currently) like Rex Ryan was with Sanchez but we need to tweak the offense to suit what he can do best. Get the ball out quicker and into the hands of our TEs and WRs. The play across the middle may have been the best/most productive play all year when it was held onto.
  3. According to people on here, the opponent shouldn't matter. Not sure if I agree on that... I disagree that the opponent doesn't matter. The opponent DOES matter. IF it was just the wins that packed the stadium, would not attendance be greater for the IAA games, given that (McNeese aside) those were pretty much guaranteed wins? However, during the BE years, the IAA games were less attended than the conference games. And look at how attendance is boosted for quality* OOC games. I think attendance has taken a hit for two reasons, maybe one more so than the other, but the relentless losing and relegation to a second-tier status. So, do we think season ticket sales will drop below the 9K mark for '15? * now they would be P5 teams. I agree and do believe the ticket sales drop again.
  4. LOL, not a chance over 40K with one or two losses. There are way too many discouraged fans and the only time we put people in seats are for big OOC games. I think you are talking about pipe dreams right now with those figures and estimates and talks about being "ranked" but that just MHO.
  5. Anyone? Tay Bender..... DaMarcus Smith is probably the highest touted one. But anyone who knows his story wouldnt be too upset if we dont land him So UCF can pull a Dual kid out of TX and we have trouble getting a QB commit period? Ouch Too bad we couldn't sway this kid away from FIU because he's going to be a stud and throws a good ball. Link Hudl FYI: The Texas QB commit for UCF (Bo Schneider) is a Pro-Style, not Dual USF also has a Pro-Style commit in Brett Kean /Facts My apologies and thanks for the fact checker. So do you think White sticks around if his old teammate beats him out? Sorry old classmate

  8. Bring him and Rob Weiner (I'd offer this guy every year until he finally said yes) on staff. With Plant getting bounced by DP, Weiner may actually stay on this time.
  9. I know a guy by the name of Joe Kinnan that could be a great fit at OC at a great price........
  10. Why didn't he stay at K State? Here's an old article that may be a small reason why so few have gonw after him... Link
  11. Any chance we might be able to move in on this kid? Ryan Stanley
  12. I guess that all depends on your definition of "close." Within 12 points That's some sad **** when double digits is now a close game. Truth hurts and it's what we've witnessed week after week or should I say for two weeks following a win all year?!?!?!
  13. I guess that all depends on your definition of "close." Within 12 points
  14. Let's be honest, White will start and play the entire game. I have a feeling that with the right play calls and slowing their offense down. We hung with a very good Wisconsin team and I think we can actually make this game against Memphis close.
  15. I find it odd that people say they will quit watching when players get paid (the ones we actually pay to go to see) but don't mind it when coaches get paid multi millions and ADs get paid ridiculous sums. if they were to pay coaches and ADs public school professor salaries and make them teach courses then I could see the arguement that players shouldn't get paid. use the revenues to benefit the academic side of the school. If it's about maximizing earnings then the players who are the actual product (nobody would pay to see a coach pace the sideline or an AD sit in his box if it weren't for the players) than the players deserve a cut. I agree. Yes they are being "paid" but in reality is more or less being compensated for them not being able to work or do much else to earn spending money. I mean come on now, I can't even take my buddy that's on the basketball team out to lunch and pay for it without him having to worry about accepting a gift?!?!? Now we have tons of people who don't think these kids should get some type of stipend? Where I work, we have international students that get a scholarship (full ride) that's worth over $50K per year and a stipend of $5K. Not only do they receieve this compensation, they can also obtain an on campus job and earn a paycheck as well. Now what type of income or revenue do these individuals provide to the college? None
  16. How we landed on the moon. Comparing the APR of our three coaches and how the GPA and graduation rate is much better than previous teams. I'm sure we could be much better if we went after kids that were great athletes but no idea where the library is on campus. Look at Leon Allen at WKU for instance. He missed his whole junior year due to grades and then was a beast and helped earn a class 7A State Championship while at Manatee. Yes, we want wins but we need to be able to make sure these kids learn a thing or two as well. When CJL started, he didn't have the smartest kids on the block but he sure did put some wins together. So, with everyone complaining about CWT and how he should be fired, why don't we lower our academic standard and start to recruit athletes that are "gamers?" Leon Allen Article
  17. I remember looking at the recruits Holtz was bringing in and couldn't believe how many had offers from Duke. Of course, at the time, he was under the constraints of the academic committee, and no doubt those players would certainly help our APR in the coming years. How they would do on the field was a different story. Under Leavitt, (before the academic committee), we had many more players who failed to qualify. However, Leavitt was able to place a number of them at Pearl River CC and other JUCOS, and some of them eventually made it back to USF and had successful careers. After the committee was formed, Leavitt started to see that some of his recruits were not going to be accepted by them and that created a number awkward and embarassing situations in recruiting. As a result, his hands were somewhat tied and that eventually started to show itself by the product on the field. I still feel badly for the way that committe undermined Stan Heath for several years. A number of his signees who were denied admission were able to sign with major basketball schools. If the NCAA clears a player, we should not override them. It might make us feel good to have higher standards than our competition, but it creates a distinct disadvantage in recruiting. I know that UL accepted a number of players we rejected and they are now in the ACC, but we can happily say that we have the better APR. LOL SPOT ON. I think the Academic Committee really hurt USF in both basketball and football, recruiting-wise... which in turn really hurt in on field/court performance. I do understand what USF was attempting to do.. but I think they did a poor job of implementing it. I do think if the committee had never existed, USF Athletics would be in a whole different situation right now... and some ex-coaches would still be around. So if that's the case, who should really get the blame (Doug)? Somehwere someone did a very poor job at making sure we stayed in thr running for certain recruits with the changes that were made. My intention for the post was to show that with the change in standard, it seemed to affect us much more than the other colleges/universities when it came to recruiting. Basketball and old Coach Stan saw much of it as well.
  18. Oh come on, 48 hours is all about tv ratings
  19. Wasn't attempting to give anyone credit or discredit another one. Just thought that it was interesting to see the progress over the years. So it's not good to look at those who have graduated while playing over the years? You originally wrote: "If you compare the years and to whom was the coach during that year, I don't think that Levitt was being held at the same standard as was Taggart or even Skippy." The APR is a four year average. Every year they drop the earliest one from the previous APR and add a later one to get the new APR average. Also, if you notice the APR significantly dropped for a couple of years when we were accepted into a BCS conference the Big East. I suggest that happened mainly as the result of more BCS level players coming in which then resulted in lesser players leaving. That not only occurred in FB, but in many of our other sports as well. It was only after those bad APR transition years were no longer counted that our four year rate stabilized. As a result of our poor multiyear APR (not only in FB) USF added an academic committee to oversee recruiting across the board. Many players who were denied admission by them went on to have success at other BCS schools. A few years later, that committee was disbanded. I don't think there was ever an official reason given, but it clearly put us at a recruiting disadvantage. Well put!
