  1. usf stands for unachieving and losing Nah uh. That would make us UAL.
  2. I think its a given he's employed before we even have an interview.
  3. If there's one thing USF has shown over the years, its that its not afraid to drop a deuce when it comes to athletics.
  4. USF sent out a letter too. It said, "Give it a few weeks, we've got something underwhelming planned thats going to be safe and cost efficient. Also, we haven't heard back from some of you about buying season tickets, whats the wait?"
  5. I enjoy when you're the most recent post in like 4 threads at one time and your avatar is moving in sync across the board. FYI
  6. Oh so it has NOTHING to do with the fact that the same firm endorsed Harlan... Is it at least marginally possible they do a decent job and we, as a school, had a good working relationship? If a search firm picked someone as awesome as me for a job, I'd sure as hell use them ... Would USF get a refund on that?
  7. This is why we have the double secret search firm .... Makes sense. Duke might get a little pissy if word got out we were chasing him. Not sure if he'd want to leave there, but word is, no one turns down Tampa weather.
  8. He should look at that coach from Duke. Kryzchefsky or something like that. He seems like a guy who's going places.
  9. Oh so it has NOTHING to do with the fact that the same firm endorsed Harlan... Is it at least marginally possible they do a decent job and we, as a school, had a good working relationship?
  10. Plus, he's married to that chick from Laverne and Shirley.
  11. I spent the first 26 years of my life in Milwaukee and spent many nights on their campus. I was going to MU basketball games long before I ever attended USF. I've been to Marquette bars, I've been to Marquette parties. I know more MU alumni than USF. My extended family has more MU graduates than any other school. So yes, I know enough MU fans to have developed a stereotype. It's not thinking that their school is better, it's the idea that our school is garbage. Well, now I'm a little annoyed they said we were garbage. That seems a bit harsh. They did call us a small school. That made me chuckle.
  12. I am literally amazed that you've met enough MU fans in your life to have developed a stereotype. Also, Marquette is an excellent school. Why is it such a shock that they'd think their school is better than someone else's?
  13. Funny and some delusional .... It's a fine line between delusional and optimistic. Don't crush my dreams.
  14. I wouldn't quite say that. They had a Final Four a couple years before he arrived.
  15. Agreed. Anyone else on the radar that has a shady past we can hitch our hopes to?
  16. As a casual basketball fan, Pearl was the only name I knew right off the bat. Maybe Buzz. Howland looks good on paper, but Pearl was a wow type of hire. We'd have had a weeks worth of free press bringing him on. **** you money and ethics!
  17. I don't think that is most of the bullspen mentality when it came to Pearl, i think most us of admit he made a mistake while at Tenn. The problem is some on here have a hell no metality because he has one blemish(on record). I'm in the camp that you have to take risk like these sometimes to reap the rewards. No hire is a guarentee but someone with a proven track record is easier to get past his blemishes. The guy lied about having a **** barbecue, he didn't crash his motorcycle with a mistress on the back who he hired to his staff. Big differences in level of "scumbag" here. Pearl made a small mistake, and he paid for it. He will propel Auburn into relevance, and we will sit by and watch. I wasn't referring to Pearl per se, just the attitude on this board that it doesn't matter what one has done as long as they can win. BTW, he did a little more than lie about a BBQ, he knowingly violated NCAA rules by having a recruit at his BBQ (he told the recruit he wasn't supposed to have him there), then lied and tried to get others to lie about it. For the record, I wasn't against Pearl being hired. In his defense, the rule he broke is no longer an NCAA violation.
  18. Is it a flashy hire if people don't even know his name?
  19. Absolutely. He'd look great painted green and gold.
  20. Yes Nancy. Talk about whining and crying, do you do anything else? I think the real question is, do YOU do anything else? I've sparred with Shadow before, but he's right, here. Look, we're not a top tier program. We're in a 2nd level conference, and getting killed there. The hope is that this class, which is amazing for a 2-10 team in said conference, results in building this program to new highs, and winning. And butts in seats. And, maybe then...a chance to get plucked up in the next re-alignment. Truth is, we're competing with all the other schools trying to permeate the P5, and I think we have the tools to do it. It starts with winning...soon. I really don't think it's a competition, in that there's nothing at this point in time we can do to "win" a spot in a P5. If/when the time comes, the conference(s) that will expand already know who they'll be taking ... Serious question Assuming CWT is the real deal, we've hired Harlan from a P5 school, and we're searching for a BB coach to get USF into the Dance. Winning aside, how much do you think the name recognition will help in the next round? Or will it? Only way they help is if they produce wins, which produce interest, leading to more money for whoever picks us up.
  21. Qft I had very little opinion on the matter until BD went Fatal Attraction and I started reading up on Pearl. Now, he's hands down my #1 choice.
  22. You mean the same guy who walked through the Sun Dome during the last coaching search and turned us down for Wichita State? Wichita State was then, and still is at this point in time, a better college basketball job than USF .... Hopefully, the next coach changes that. It's a good job, but we were in a much better league. They have a 1 seed. Their league is plenty good enough to earn props from the committee.
