  1. Woah guys, you can't say he has a nice offer list (even if he does have a nice offer list). Because that doesn't matter. Apparently. Hope this talented young man joins us.
  2. How did that season end again? I forgot. Sure. I can see that point of view, I suppose. Nothing's been cooler before or since though. I'm not choosing between Andre Hall leading us to a conference title, or BJ Daniels leading us to our first BCS game (yet). Sadly enough, a 9-win season featuring a #2 ranking where the wheels fell off at the end, is our best season ever.
  3. Grothe. 2007 may be unmatched for the level of euphoria in the program for quite awhile. Out of nowhere our team reached #2 status. Though it was a flash in the pan, it was a pretty epic flash to live in for that moment. Even if we, say, made the Orange Bowl this year, I don't think it'd be as epic as shooting up the #2 when nobody knew the name of our university. Grothe embodied that team. Sure, he had a lot of help, but he was the face. Yes, even over All American George Selvie who by the middle of conference play was already proving to not be as good as the hype, and Mike Jenkins who was **** good, but was a CB and had a limited ceiling "favorite" wise for most because of that.
  4. Disagree. Rankings are about potential as well. The rankings often reach less though. Sure, kids like Selvie could happen where a 6'4" 220lb DE flourishes. But, usually, it'll be the 6'4" 255lb high schooler that does better. I don't think Holtz and Co took this kid over some 4-star recruit that would've committed because they thought he was better, I think they just can't get the 4-star to listen. If that's the case, then spend your time in Orlando where we might get them for whatever reason. The rankings are really just based on what schools are offering them. In general, if a kid is offered by UF/FSU/USC they're better than someone offered by BC/Holy Cross/FAU; or so is the though. Makes sense, really.
  5. We can now be more selective, because of the talent Leavitt brought in. It's a two way street. We're not being "more selective" though. Leavitt was getting more selective maybe, but Skip seems to have gone backward, in Tampa at least. UCiF is out recruiting us in Tampa according to a variety of sources. I don't disagree with that notion, it's pretty hard to. (Our overall class is better though.) I'm just griping that every time Greg reports a new Tampa commit I look them up on Rivals and they're usually a 2-star or barely a 3-star and usually not being recruited very heavily.
  6. I'm not singling out this particular kid as mediocre. I'm noting the Tampa group of recruits as such. Apologies to his family if they read this and took it poorly. They should get used to their kid being judged by arm chair analysts though. I don't trust Rivals, or the like. Yet, a bunch of borderline 2/3-star kids usually don't pan out as well as borderline 3/4-star kids. We're getting the former in Tampa and the latter in Orlando... for whatever reason. Calling a football player smart (academically) sounds a lot like like telling an ugly girl that she has a nice personality when you don't want to date her. Just sayin'.
  7. Yawn. Another mediocre kid from Tampa. If this is the type of Tampa kid we can bring in, then keep recruiting Orlando.
  8. 6'2" 190 with 4.3 speed? If the kid can learn WR technique he could be a beast.
  9. dont think we will dominate them Thanks for all of your optimism. Are you sure you went to USF? Not that smazza doesn't spout off silly statements routinely, but I don't think we dominate their OL either this year. Our DL is a lot less disruptive than we were last time we played. We have nobody as good as McClain, Grissom was there last time, and our DE's aren't in the same realm of Selvie/JPP, or even necessarily Marshall. That DL was freaking stacked. They will score more than 7 on us this year. They'll probably score more than 17. I think we will too though.
  10. I think so. Not as a starter. Not even close. You guys are overhyping Clanton. He's not going to step foot on the court during an NBA regular season game.
  11. Clanton is way ahead of Austin? I disagree with that notion. We'll see in the upcoming season, but it's not like Clanton destroyed C-DOA.
  12. I bought season tickets online for the first time. I'm out of state. Will they mail them to me? My ticket status is, "printed by box office" but i only ordered them a few days ago. Eventually will I get a "mailed by box office" (or something similar) or do I have to pick them up at the box office? Anyone know?
  13. Eh, I don't blame writers for not thinking much of Heath. Many were calling for his head even last season after mediocre OOC play. There's a lot of fluke elements to last year. So far he's had 2 good years, last year (fluke?) and Dojo carrying us. All other years have been abysmal. He'll need it to happen again to prove to naysayers it's not a fluke.
  14. Our LB's will have to be the best for us to win the BE. I think they can be.
  15. Wow, another BCS program. I liked Nash. I hope he does well.
  16. Summer League doesn't really mean anything. Dojo may finally be forced into being given a chance. The coach there, Carlisle, is renouned for not playing young guys but he doesn't have many options left. This could be Dojo's year to shine... As noted in a forum from the above link: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1196062
  17. Students are lazy. The upper end finish on time, the lower end don't. We have too many of the latter. Or did, it's improving I think. (I didn't read the article) My engineering undergrad pushed 140 credits. I finished it in 3.5 years. I finished my Masters in another 1.5 years. I finished in this time because of life constraints/demands. If I didn't have them I'd probably have stretched it out as well. And, yes, this meant often taking 15+ credit hours every semester and summer classes every single year.
