  1. Leavitt - JOB 1 - Win the Conference - FAIL. Holtz - JOB 1 - Win the Conference - FAIL. Taggart-JOB 1 -Win the Conference - ??? **** Of course now it's also a completely different conference. 3 years ago, Tulane, Temple, E carolina, etc, would have been considered tune up games. Now, they are conference foes, meaning they can beat us! Quite a few steps backwards has this once skyrocketing program taken. There's never been a point in our history where 1A games like that would have, realistically, been considered tune up games ... I respectfully disagree. A few years ago, we would've been pretty heavily favored against any of those teams. This year AND MAYBE next and beyond, not so much. But I'm glad you guys are happy about the direction of the program. At least someone will be in the seats at RayJay. +1 We recently lost our first game against a non-BCS opponent since joining the Big East.
  2. Curious out runner, why do you say moving off campus after first year is illegal? Pretty sure he's saying that forcing freshmen to live on-campus is what's illegal... Yeah, forcing them to live on-campus should be illegal. The universities primary function is education, and housing is a service they provide to assist in the primary function. But it is just that, a service. By forcing freshman to live on campus their first year, they in effect create a monopoly and are able to charge higher than market value for the rooms and meal plans because the freshman have no other choice. Making freshmen live on campus is a great thing. Raises school spirit for freshmen and it helps them become more involved on campus. I know when I lived on campus I attended several events advertised through the dorms and things. As soon as I moved off campus I havent attended a single on-campus event other than athletic events. This is one way to get rid of the commutter school image.
  3. Thanks for starting 4 years and only throwing 1 pick against FSU in '09. Besides that... Can't wait for the future.
  4. Are we seriously discussing the band at basketball games?
  5. I like the band yelling stuff out, they're the loudest group in the stadium.
  6. Haha me too! Class of '09. I'd like to see us getting more involved with Cypress Bay, not too long ago it was the largest High School in the nation.
  7. Not to hijack but... Its better to forget about him. Most likely not coming here so the best is to just hope that either Floyd, Eveld, or White can manage Taggart's run-offense smoothly.
  8. Hopefully Ryne Giddins can finally live up to the hype too. Him and Lynch are gonna be a nasty duo. I also foresee Eric Lee having an awesome sophomore year. We have BCS talent but playing in a non-BCS conference this year. I think Willie T will definitely motivate this group more than Skip ever did. Should be exciting.
  9. I still think the 2009 Bulls are the biggest what if team in USF history. What if Grothe never got hurt and we didnt rush BJD in? Seriously that team had JPP Selvie Murphy (caused penalties but still had NFL talent) Carlton Mitchell Wilson Lamar Griffin Ford (lol) Nate Allen. Most talent in any team history bar none, a senior playmaking QB wouldnt have hurt.
  10. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS GUY HAS NOT BEEN SIGNED BY NOW. Do you guys not understand the type of talent that he will recruit in our state? Our practice facilities are top notch (though it wasnt reflected on the field, but thats on the coaching), Taggert is a Harbaugh-type coach who will get everything at practice. He will be the only African American coach in a big FL school. Hes young Woolard, I swear, if he doesn't end up being our head coach...
  11. Not anymore... Hes going from Sun Belt to CUSA2 which isn't drastic at all.
  12. USF makes more sense but Wisconsin has B1G money and a conference to offer. We need this guy now. If he ends up in Madison I'll be too upset with Woolard.
  13. Is there an ideal place to watch USF BBall games around the North Tampa area tomorrow? Its a big game. If we keep winning and pull the upset we should be able to ride our success against future opponents like Ystown State and Bowling Green. We could be receiving votes by the time we play UCF again and Syracuse at home.
  14. Taggart is my #1 But if Magee is hired I wouldn't be upset. I love the fact hes a USF alumni and got his degree even before the football team existed. No doubt he bleeds green and gold and wouldn't let this program fail.
  15. Taggart would bring Marquel Blackwell back with him too. If Taggart is successful and were to take a job somewhere else in the long future I could see Marquel becoming our OC or HC in the future which would be awesome.
  16. Taggart is a High School Tampa Legend. (Very important city connection) Charismatic but tough Amazing recruiter. Turned the worst program in the nation to a constant winner. Beat Kentucky (huge deal against a rival): I'm sold.
  17. Agree 100% with OP USF needs to rely on basketball future. Though students seem rude to Georgia tonight its ridiculous to think otherwise from our student section. Go bulls! AND STAND UP!
  18. USF basketball needs all bull fans to come out to the Sun Dome on Friday with no excuses. The Big East-SEC challenge is tied and even though we're the last team left in what was once our conference we need to come out and support our team! Go Bulls!
  19. True, watching Floyd play you can tell this is the QB Holtz needs to run his system. Unfortunately BJD is ideal for a spread offense that Leavitt ran, but not the i-formation/wing/pistol offense Holtz runs. I actually like watching a USF QB stand in the pocket and deliver a pass like Floyd has done in the last games. The kid was the 3rd stringer so I wasn't expecting much but I dont know I can see how Holtz just didn't inherit the right personnel for his offense. Little by little its getting there IMO.
  20. Hyperbole aside, we've had success pretty quickly with the last two redshirt freshmen we've brought in to start - cut our fan base a little slack on that one. Granted, they weren't Holtz' recruits, but Floyd's the first Holtz-recruited QB that was never a walk-on that started for us ... consider expectations tempered now, though. Grothe was a program changer but still threw as many picks as TDS. Daniels didn't have true success at QB till his junior and senior seasons and I remember his Soph season was AWFUL. He just made a huge splash beating FSU with 2 long passes and a long rush. Both still don't have the numbers that Blackwell had at QB here so its not like these guys came in and became conference leaders in anything other than total yards.
