  1. Good, short read. Pressure may be on this team to run the table, given the expectations. And our foes will be up for us more than ever, trying to knock us out.
  2. Lots to chose from, but some could argue that Blackwell was our best QB ever.
  3. I loved Love...great hands, and great guy. MVS has a chance to lock in Best Ever 11 with a monster year. Edwards & Joseph are certainly worthy of the bulk of votes. But, it WAS hard not to vote for Floyd. Sawyer was a BUST.
  4. I did see a few well disguised blitzes...one by McGee that put good pressure on Flowers.
  5. See my other answer, but I'd say a bit better. We have the talent to disrupt, and we HAVE to have better coaching this year. Woodie was likely a great guy loved by Taggart and the players. But I think he was in over his head, and I can't think of a single time that he made adjustments. So many times last year, we allowed comebacks to almost give away games (the last 5 games should have been bigger wins, but we let teams back in on D). We almost managed to let Navy beat us, giving up 4 TDs to a RUNNING team that we KNEW had to throw...something they weren't good at...and they nearly took us to OT. Man, my BP is up just typing. So...we SHOULD have as much or more talent, and almost certainly better coaching.
  6. So you were on the defensive side. I think Mazzi Wilkins made a few of those plays, and Mike Hampton made some good plays. I don't think Abrahams, Fullwood or Hoggins played. McGee (21) remains one of the toughest guys on the back 7. He's going to well. Lastly, I'd say Nichols showed great leadership.
  7. His 40+ yd TD to Salomon was sweet. His shorter passes were crisp, and aside from a few drops, the passing game looked good. I saw him warming up before the scrimmage, and his mechanics look MUCH better than his early days (maybe a "duh" statement, as clearly he's come a long way). His spirals were tight, and he's a super calm dude, and just looks so relaxed and quietly confident. The league will be getting up for him, trying to be the team to shut him down, but that's the price of getting all of this off season hype & attention. I think he's going to do well this year...but I worry he'll miss Adams and Mack.
  8. D line looked aggressive & got decent penetration, but the OL also did well. It's so hard to gauge when they play each other...and I was 10 feet behind the offense, so sometimes it was hard to see. I thought Bronson & Hector looked very good. Bronson is a GROWN man...he's going to wreck people. Frank Johnson (91) looked quick. I don't recall seeing 94 Livingston, but that was mainly because I was on the O side. Senat looked good, too...he's a run stuffer.
  9. I didn't get back to Jupiter till nearly 1 AM last night (after attending Fan Fest, Ferg's Pre-Game and USF Night at The Trop. I can't find a thread on insight from the scrimmage. Is there a thread already? If not, I'd love to hear some feedback from those who were there. For me, Flowers looked good (the touch to tackle made him look less successful, but that's not reality, as he showed last year...lots of touching; little tackling). Salomon is a man child. Culpepper looks big, fast & strong, and likely makes an impact as a freshman. Felix had a nice TD (called back, but still). He's got good size, and could be an impact player. Rice Grad Transfer Alaka entered the game, when a coach (Sterling?) yelled, "Hey, 12, get in here". He caught the next pass for a TD. He's got good size, too. Tice & Conkcrite ran very hard, and Dillon had a good game. Lots of energy on both sides of the ball. Funniest moment was when Flowers eluded a pass rusher & ran right into Coach Strong, causing the sack. I swear I heard "Come on!" Funny. Biggest concern for me in the LB crew. Secondary has some good, young size. Lots of talent there, but still makes me a tad nervous. Best part was being 10 feet away from the players, and hearing the interaction from players to players, and coaches with players. Overall, great experience...well worth the trip from Jupiter. Looking forward to seeing our Bulls hit people NOT wearing green. GO BULLS!
  10. We went to get gear after the scrimmage, but the line was hundreds deep, and we had 3 teen girls who just didn't want to wait for hours to MAYBE get what was left. Glad the demand was there, but was hoping for a lot more great in a more accessible venue. Could be the line moved quickly, but we walked early halfway around the SunDome, and still never saw the end. So we bolted. Still, I loved being 10 feet from the players during the scrimmage. I went to Vero during the bleak years, and this team looks a LOT bigger, stronger & tighter.
  11. Wish I had a link with all players. When I saw 32 bust a nice run, I had no idea who he was. Checked Twitter; saw it was Cronkrite. He looked smaller than I expected, but looked good. As to Culpepper giving up the bomb to Salomon, he won't be the only one doing that this year. That guy is a BIG receiver, and along with MVS is going to give Flowers some big targets (in addition to the best TE duo ever).
  12. No stats, so assuming no play. Hope it's nothing serious. On the upside, Rodney Adams had an excellent debut, scoring a TD.
  13. Pretty sure he was #27, but I can't find a roster that shows numbers for the newcomers, but I was surprised to see him listed at 175...he looks a LOT stronger than 175...I'd peg him at 190, as he looked tall and strong. Looked VERY good Saturday.
  14. If my buddy lets me rent his beach front condo at the best rate I can get, I don't mind if he leaves pictures of his family there when I visit But seriously, I appreciate you taking the time to share/compare with the Memphis situation, as it's helpful to get insight from other programs. My wife & I had something come up, causing us to miss the last game in Memphis, but we intend to make our first trip there for next time the Bulls play. Good luck to your Tigers this year, and thanks for being a civil visitor (but not afraid to punch back a little).
  15. Met his mom at the scrimmage yesterday. Very nice lady, and thrilled her son was at USF. He's good sized, and could wind up being an impact player here.
  16. Maybe he'll Save Tonight, even if not. Or Neneh Cherry, and line up in a Buffalo Stance.
  17. 11-2. I'm sure this will get some flak, but I'm maybe I'm just guarding myself against the hopes for a 12-0 season (plus AAC Champ Win, and a tough bowl game). I just worry that the D hasn't had time to improve significantly; we have a ton of talent on O (but did lose 2 NFLers in Mack & Adams); injuries are always a risk to key players; almost entirely new coaching staff; and EVERYONE will be gunning for USF, as the G5 team trying to run the table (especially the dudes in Orlando). I hope I'm wrong, and I'll get to as many games as I can, screaming as loud as I can. I think we have the talent & schedule to run the table, but I know that are so many things that can trip up perfection.
  18. Speed is great, but he needs to put on some muscle, or that jet sweep could be painful. Adams was thin & fast, but had a fair amount of muscle. I'm guessing redshirt, but if he or Smart can be very good kick returners, it'd be great to not risk DJ...since he's our featured back this year.
  19. What a great story on a young man who overcame more than many could handle, and thrived. I'm posted it here before, but after Q's first game (a rough debut v NC State), I bumped into his uncle (one of a few wearing home made Flowers shirts) washing my hands in the bathroom after the game. I told him, "Rough game, but please tell him we're pulling for him and it gets better". He was a tall, quiet man, maybe in his 30s. He calmly looked at me, nodded, and said, "He's going to be great for y'all, I promise you that". Truer words rarely spoken. I know many (most?) of us were a bit worried that he could lead this team to the next level after the early struggles, but I dare say, he's exceeded the expectations of even the most optimistic fans. His TD/INT ratio is remarkable, and his ball protection and leadership are amazing. He's has eyes in the back of his head, and a sense for contact that you can't coach. I hope he stays healthy this year, sets a new high and then makes it to the NFL (even if not a QB). You have to pull for a guy like this...just a great role model for kids. Hats off to Taggart for being the one HC to give him a shot at QB, and to Flowers for believing him (I'll bet some coaches told me he'd get a shot, but had no intention of actually giving him much of a shot).
  20. I think Strong's young players were the best on the team, but he didn't get enough time to gel the squad, and many players & coaches may have dropped off a bit, seeing the likely end of Strong's tenure. I can't even think of an undefeated season, as there are so many unknowns (not to mention you can have key injuries and "crap games" that you should win, but things just go wrong). We will likely be favored in each game (maybe not Houston), and that puts pressure on a team all year. We shall see. I'm hoping for an O like last year (maybe not reasonable with the loss of Adams & Mack), and at least a moderate improvement in D. If the D doesn't get better, it could be a troubling season.
  21. If you're looking to split hairs, the poster said "some people", which means > 1. You his point & yours are taken. It's easy to feel a little vindication when someone who jilts you (or your school), but we must be quick to get some perspective. I am curious what the issue is, if it's anything beyond speculation. I admit I can't seem to want to pull for Taggart at Oregon, but I really should...he was good for our program, and left Strong a fair amount of talent to build upon.
  22. Maybe, at with now 25 commits, some may bolt if something they prefer comes available...but he did say we're still on his list. It's hard to get too excited about kids committing in the summer, with so much time left to NSD as well as opportunity to blow out seasons or injuries.
  23. might be a stretch to call that reveling, and it was one guy...but, I'm sure there are some who don't like the way Judson handled the whole recruiting process, and he was so insane in his Twitter posts (attention seeking at epic level), that I had to stop ever reading them BEFORE he bolted. Frankly, with no bitterness to my opinion, I only saw him play one game on TV, early in the season, and he was not a stand out, IMO. And most of his throws were wounded ducks...which maybe was a subconscious affinity for Oregon (I keed, I keed). But, some of those attributes were tagged to Flowers, so who know where he'll wind up. I don't begrudge any of these kids. They are doing what I wish I could have done...playing D-I football (and be courted, as well). More power to them, and best of luck.
