didnt taggart lose to fau this year?? 4 out of his 5 losses came from inconference. We are taking a guy who hasnt even dominated the level hes at as our next head coach. I don't care if he won 7 games but he lost 4 games one to FAU..

Recruiting the right players is part of the battle but kids go to schools because of tradition of winning..we dont have that... As much as kids like college coaches they do not go there just because they like them as people. Every coach kisses their butt. Academics..well we arent the best that you can offer but its not bad... Well what does a kid reallllly care about then?? Well he cares about putting up numbers and getting seen and playing at the next level. We hired a guy who does not generate any attention as far as offense or defense. If were worried about a good OC and DC were screwed. A good head coach nowadays has his hands in one of the other more than the OC or DC...You guys are looking for managable reliable coaching and thats all well and dandy but its going to keep us 7-5 and 6-6 the whole way. We could have gotten someone to take our offense or defense to the next level and make kids want to come because they want to play in it...We did not accomplish that. These kids will still choose the other schools over Taggart anyday.

so we went from sifting through reccomendations to hiring taggart? This is a bad hire honestly. I mean he plays terrible competition year in and year out. It was similar to Temple with Al golden only beating one team with a winning record over there. I mean he doesnt excell on offense or defense. It just doesnt make sense to hire someone cause you assume he can recruit florida. We had coaches who would have produced offensively and kids would have flocked to play for us. I would love to be proved wrong but this hire just doesnt make sense. You guys are assuming he can recruit. Assuming it took some kind of RIDICULOUS coaching ability. It could have been terrible before hand and anything better than before can get to 7-5. It just wasnt a dominating year for a coach to get this kind of attention. Personally think we will be having this conversation in another 4 years.

the team he had in UL when we played them..which eventually won a college world series..was kind of built the same way. They had one of the smallest kid to ever to play college baseball I forget his name. He was verrrrrrrrrry good. Maybe thats how he recruits. I do notice that alot of his picks do actually end up signing but part of recruiting is getting kids who are the best for your program that you actually have a chance to get on campus. He has had chance to make that adjustment but I think he is a good coach without a doubt. I think it must be easier now with the facilities they have so we shall see this year. Hopefully some improvements.

haha taggart is not going to be our coach but if we get clemsons OC..I bet he is our qb..if we get butch davis..i bet he is our qb...Taggart will not be hired with the list of canidates we have. We is bottom of the list.

Yea if im going to get off my passion for someone who can produce a top 10 offense like clemsons oc...I will take butch.

wow if they are interviewing davis and people are saying leach isnt an option. Leach only had a kid sit out in a dark "big" SHED..for a concussion and was never actually substantiated he did anything wrong. Butch has bagggage too. I will take either one of those. I like butch and I think he would be able to recruit the hell out of kids and if he is getting interviewed I honestly do not know if anyone else has a shot.

why are people asking for canales to get a shot. He had our best offense stats? so...we know he is not a good coach. His offense wasnt that good.

why is this even a thread..has it ever been mentioned by anyone he is a canidate or anyone from usf is going to reach out to him. He does not seem like an option.

How are you even comparing Taggart to this guy? He took a similar 1-11 team to 10 wins in three seasons not 7-5. His offenses dominate and defenses are stout and played WAY better competition than Taggart. Your clueless.

Holtz couldnt answer a specific during an interview at all. This coach just said it was my fault in the beginning I adjusted the coverage tighter. How it screams holtz is beyond me. This coach has his hands on way more.

I have stated my opinions but Im willing to adapt..like I feel he is a reallly legit option..your reason is somehow screams out holtz? His qb is third in the country in offense.. 3 David Fales, QB SJSU 294 408 72.1 3798 9.3 78 31 9 25 170.9 His system will have qb's and kids wanting to be apart of this offense.

The lineman we do get however are better design for the spread and our personel if more fit for the spread as well which is why cannot make a drastic change and risk 2-3 years of losing games before winning. We can go bowling again and flourish in a spread offense much faster than switching. If we adopt a true air attack like I want than were talking about getting really talented kids coming here not because of tradition or winning championships but based on kids knowing they will put up numbers and be talked about in that offense.

Im going to have to agree if were talking about this level of coach than why isnt Calvin at the top of the list. Atleast he know his mentality fits what were going to do offensively. We can actually flourish in the offense and kids will want to play in that offense. I'd lean towards him if this is all we got.

He will struggle and then win 7 games in his best season. We will be talking about some new guy coaching at usf in another three years... Dont you understand we cannot afford to join the teams who fire their coach every couple of years now. It is going to head that way if we dont make the right hire. He nor houston nutt are right for the job. We are screwed with either.

Who cares so much about their size.Were talking about were not getting the best offensive lineman. They go elsewhere. Its a combination of size and ABILITY that were not getting.

listen, taggart is a stretch and we all know it. Its not worth it in my opinion. If we go upstart we have to go from a program who has led in some kind of category or we will get zero change. Nothing about taggarts resume screams more than 6 to 7 wins a year when hes doing it at wku.

mariota as a freshman qb for oregon threw for 2500 yards 30 td's and 6int...if only we could do those kind of numbers through the air and we run a spread offense. Start to notice what real spread offenses look like and thats with MOBILE QB'S. If those are his stats with 63% rushing..Id hate to see it at 50/50

You are not suggesting Oregon is a smash mouth team? WKU...They are 7-5 and very medicore team. BAMA..BEST O-LINE IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL.. Oregon..Spread attack with zone blocking scheme is hardly a smash mouth style of running when the defense has to account for the qb equally as much.

Kent st coach to purdue..purdue got a good coach there. Wish we had interviewed for him. Clearly he was above us after one good year. Guys Taggart getting support does not mean anything about getting kids. They will still choose other schools over us. Nothing about his coaching ability screams take usf to the next level. His defenses give up alot of points a game even to conference opponents and they dont score that many points. They are a medicre 7-5 team. This is not the hire usf needs based on high school coaches. This would be a stretch. He is a last resort. I really hope the higher ups have more common sense than alot of you guys on here.

i figured you'd know the answer to that. I really hope that doesn't come into play. Wow didnt even really think about players leaving. I mean we couldnt afford to lose anyone on offense. I really think Mitchell needs to go back on defense and be on the other side of the field of bivins. We still have bivins on defense. We can get better on that side of the ball too.
