  1. Other than you, who said that he would be our savior? He's a decent QB that has been in the "heat of the battle" against top ranked opponents. EDIT: He had offers from: Louisville, Pitt, USF, Stanford, and Arkansas. If he was good enough for us then, then why not now? You don't take a 1 yr transfer player unless they are going to be emphatically better than what you've got. I don't see Trickett as any better than Floyd. I'd rather play Floyd or White for a year to get them in the system then bring in a guy like Tricket for a one and done. IMO you only bring in a one and and done if they are a savior you dont honestly believe yourself do you?????? Wow you would rather play Flloyd who couldnt even handle throw away games???? Trickett is a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better qb. He is probably Grothe size but with a much stronger arm. Yes he isnt the savior but he would **** sure start here. Your a piece of work my friend. Flloyd is basura.
  2. hes a good kid..and he knows he has a shot to start..its between him and eveld..no reason to believe flloyd will get better with coaching. He sucked coaching doesnt really help a qb if he sucks.
  3. Good we got to the right answer,,,If we go undefeated we will NOT make the national champioship..This is a problem..How can we try to fix this if we are still in the BE. We have no controll over getting an invitation to one of the power conferences. Now what can we do to increase our chances? This is not a glib question. If we alllow ourselves to accept the fact that we will never be a National Champion in the BE then we are back with Skip Holtz kicking a field goal when we are three touch downs behind. USF has a new start with Willie Taggart. I am reluctant to accept USF as a mid tier school. It will be difficult to win 10 games without good recruits. Yet good local recruits like Jojo Kemp leave for Kentucky. This is the essence of the original post. If we do nothing to change the situation,,, the results will always be the same. IMO We need to have an possitive atmosphere, a place where local recruits are prout to come to. There are enough Gators in the swamp we don't need more... If I had all the answer or the answers were easy there would be no problem. I don't have all the answers but what I do believe is we are lucky to have a new coach. But Willie can't do everything by himself and there are thousands of alumni ..somewhere out there is someone smart enough to help USF out. Go Bulls The only way.. Win for a few years straight...Boise St. did it. They won themselves into the top 10 consistantly. Until we can win our way into the top 10. The next season is our only chance. It will take a consistant few seasons with 10 or more wins. This is not impossible. Especially if Taggart recruits the next few years like he did in this short amount of time. Im positive we can still be a dominant force in the country but it will not be possible to win a national championship without the continous winning and help from the big dogs losing. Im okay with this because we really did it to ourselves. We can change this image and I believe CWT will change our image and make recruits want to come here but honestly guys it does not matter what happens outside of the football field. The atmosphere will occur when we start winning believe it or not. You guys do not want bangwagon fans but we need them. We need energy and we need to create fans and thats how you do it. People will hop on the "bus" when the bus starts winning. Lets just ride the bus for now and see what happens.
  4. if USF goes undefeated next year we do not make the national championship...Add that to the fact we have to play Louisville so we cannot go undefeated. We have no chance at being national champs next year and then absolutely no chance after that year unless we continously win 10 games for a few years and leave this conference.
  5. plans on trying to go pro? Looks like Russell wilson, kapernick, and rg 3 just said you can run a gimmick offense and be big time in nfl. Nfl scouts dont care what kind of offense you ran in college. They will evaluate your skills in workouts. Alabama wins National championships and until this year they havent had a qb who was noticable. So kids want to put up big numbers. Big numbers gets attention. Your gimmick offenses are just as easy to get to the next level as a anything else.
  6. Yes lets not hope hes Matt Grothe. Matt was great and came out of nowhere. He will forever be the image of what usf is about but stop thinking we need diamonds in the rough. Stop using Carlton Hill or anyone else who was a bust as an example. There are plent of busts but if your school gets to the level and we continiously get quality qb options you will not complain. We should want the best qb we can get. If we would have had Aaron Murray we would be in a different situation today. Its just the way it goes. Yes its nice to hope a player is better than they seem but stop trying to say were better off with players who came out of nowhere. Mike White plays on a stacked offensive team and plays alot of spread. We will see how it translates to much tighter coverage than he was able to face weekly here. The speedy recievers he has were almost always better than the dbs they faced and he was behind one of the better high school offensive lines you can find. I hope he is good enough. I would have liked STA'S QB as well just because he seems like he fits the scheme a little better but we will see.
  7. NEED EM!!! would be better than WHITE and our bench. I'd have him an early leader in the clubhouse to start next year. Lets bring him in.
  8. look I love the interest were getting out of STA..if we can get a few players on board we can start creating a connection there. They play disicplined football and this is a school that will always produce good talent. If we get the OL,QB,and RB..or atleast I'll take the RB and QB were in good shape. They understand how to play quality football and would be able to jump right in.
  9. I agree that the overall circumstances that come with being a head coach seem just a bit overwhelming for him. He was still the perfect person for getting to us to the point where he did.
  10. I know coaches get credit for for it but he probably didnt have much to do with them being all pro...but that being said this is where he belongs. He is probably a much better assistant/position coach where he can focus on just one thing rather than the big picture.
  11. going to meet with alot of coaches if he was an arkansas committ..doubt we have a legit shot at him. Hope so though.
  12. What dont we get about recruiting under holtz? He failed to recruit the most important position on the field? Who cares if he got some wr's those are a dime a dozen and can come from anywhere. The fact he was a freshman and didnt do anything in this day and age of college football means alot. Freshman everywhee are contributing at a high rate. If they dont you get someone who can. He wont smell the field if we land one of these two qb's.
  13. Yea cause calling Landi a WR is really a stretch...Holtz failed at recruiting in the first place we have Eveld flloyd and evelds brother. Thats a failure of recruiting and its nothing personal but it does speak volumes about the kind of offense we were running and how it did not attract anyone with any talent. They are all great fellow bulls and students Im sure. They are talented athletes who made it to D1 football but they are not that good..We need someone like this kid to come in and take us to where we all want to be.
  14. IMO the players did not flourish because of coaching. A player can still be really good..like Andre Davis and BJ Daniels and still make plays but Flloyd couldnt even handle a snap or avoid a sack. He is our worst option. Its sad to say but Eveld is obviously a better option. That just goes to show you the level of interest from QBs and how hard it is to recruit top level qbs unless you are going to provide them with a platform to suceed. I think you will actually see a noticable change in desire to qb at usf now with a new offense and system. I wasnt thrilled with the switch to less spread but its something new and I want a new qb to have a complete fresh start.
  15. lol He is going to love clemson. I nearly accepted their offer to play baseball there. If I didnt fall in love with the growth usf was showing and the feeling of being a part of something I would have went to Clemson but wouldnt change my decision for the world... Your definition of servicable cannot apply to someone like Andrew Luck who is a master of the game. Matt Flloyd is Greg Gregory..He will never be more than a backup. He is not good. He had his opporunity. Were not looking for guys who need to get better from the level of sucking. Were looking for someone who can come in and play well and get better. He didnt do so and in 2013 you do not grow from projects. You get new kids every year and its a competitive world and he has lost his opportunity. I cannot believe some of yall who hated BJ DANIELS as our qb and it was so hard to admit he was our only chance of winning. Now you try to say a guy like Flloyd has a chance to become a good qb? What gives you that idea? His terrible perfomances, getting pulled for two different qb's one a wr who hasnt taken snaps in forever. What else? The fact his high school stats were far from impressive??? But back to topic..Is this his last visit?
  16. Again only 2 of them actually went to Miami...St. Thomas was completely ignored by the previous staff and there has been a push from the new regime to get STA players but they still are not going. Im full of it? LMAO You need to calm down tough guy but Im really not suprised someone from St. Thomas would speak like this..you guys were always known as the dumpiest of the private schools..right below Gibbons.
  17. slick is happy with a servicable QB...way to go kid. Shoot for the stars. Plant wouldnt even start Matt Flloyd right now.
  18. Ok ok guys here is the deal. If we end up the program all you guys want to be. Winning 10 games a year trying to get an at large bcs bid and we win. We get invited to a new conference and were legitimate now. Guess what were going to be attracting kids who are highly recruited now. Your going to tell me that after each good season getting better players when we finally get to the point elite players want to come to usf were going to say nahhh were looking for the overlooked talent. The Matt grothe's and george selvies..lmao..come on lets be serious guys. Just stop talking about recruiting we get it. There are busts and diamonds in the rough but one thing is for certain the best players go to the SEC and we arent getting them. If we were we would be winning games off talent alone.
  19. they have 2 kids on their current roster from STA...I hope your joking. This is arguably the best high school football program in South Florida and for the longest time MIAMI didnt get their players. It goes back alot longer than the last three years. Al Golden understands a little better but out of your 5 players you talked about only one or two actually went. They can start offering all they want the kids arent going to miami at the rate they should.
  20. st. thomas is pretty pissed that UM overlooks their players alot. So they are not opposed to getting out of here. I hope we can get an influence there as they are a powerhouse.
  21. haha clemson frequents the top 10 and has big time athletes on the field and puts them in the nfl. You must be joking who cares if they get blown out at the end of the season it doesnt mean your garunteed to win every game...LOL..stars dont matter..Lets get consecutive classes with all 4 star players and a few 5's here in there and see if our program doesnt turn around real quick haha. Some people man just so stuck in their ways like to say things like stars dont matter. Then you throw out the example of George Selvie..and Matt grothe..and so on..of course the sheer numbers would tell you there are suprised and busts..A bust is not a big deal when your recruiting big time players. It is a big deal when your USF and your banking on that one player.
  22. love the stars do not matter and they throw out a few names of people who werent highly ranked. Well sorry guys. The top programs are getting elite players year in and year out and they stay in the top 25 for the most part. Im going to guess its better to get alot of high ranked players than get 1 or 2 like we do and then they dont pan out and you say stars dont matter. Its stupid and you know it. Tell Alabama stars dont matter.
  23. Then I agree. Based on the current rankings we can snag a few top players but we will mostly deal with the kids who turn out to be great who were not ranked highly. Well hopefully we have the coaching to allow them to flourish.
  24. Yes...we can snag a few more talented kids but the overwhelming majority are going to be the second teir players with a chip on their shoulder like BOISE ST. Those guys are proud of it. If we can be the boise st. of the east we will all be pretty happy.
