  1. Take a look at the 2-deep. Lose a lotttttt of major pieces this year. 7-5 is realistic for next season, especially depending on how Kean plays. Wouldn't be surprised to see us unranked.
  2. His (idiotic and simple) reasoning was that we got the ball back to start the 2nd half..
  3. I think it's more a philosophical thing than a results thing.
  4. A little constructive criticism and some people lose their mind. Nobody is saying Charlie Strong is a bad coach. If you have a problem with the Skip Holtz FG blunder but not this, you aren't being honest with yourself. The top coaches in CFB try to score in that situation. The 'practice for that type of situation' is definitely part of that argument.
  5. Should we not throw a single pass against Stony Brook because the circumstances of the game don't require it? You go 100% until you call the dogs off. Anything less is unacceptable.
  6. Strategy isn't for everybody. Some see it as a game of checkers, other see it as a game of chess. If the same situation comes up against say ucf with a conference championship birth on the line, would you change your opinion?
  7. Killing me Trip... We won so it really wasn't a bad decision isn't the point. The outcome doesn't change the fact that it was the wrong call. Poor strategy on an opportunity that had what, a 15% chance of leading to points?
  8. Yikes... this has nothing to do with running the score up. A pick as the clock expires takes away just as much momentum as letting the clock run out. A pick also doesn't hurt Q's chance at winning the Heisman bc he isn't going to win the Heisman. If we had the ball at the 33, would you be upset if we didn't try a FG (reminder, up by 12)? Nah... we got the ball back, so there was no need to try the kick.
  9. And getting a PI or TD is not a 500-1 shot. The odds aren't that bad in the NFL.
  10. Yeesh... willie made plenty of mistakes, some worse than Holtz. The referenced Holtz play summarized his career at this school. Letting the clock run out RESEMBLED the poor play calling on that play. No offense intended, Mrs Strong.
  11. All to true.. curious on everybody's thoughts... IF USF announces plans tomorrow for fundraising for a stadium, who puts their wallet where their mouth is? Personally, we try to be generous with donations, but I would be writing my biggest check yet.
  12. And from above, it wasn't a bad position. It was just outside FG range and would have been the last play of the half. You have a QB who is on every award watch list, trust him to not make a mistake. An incompletion or pick (doubting it gets returned) doesn't matter. PI is the most likely result. It's called strategy, when the '+' far outweighs the '-', you generally give it a shot.
  13. Whoa whoa whoa..... Strong isn't Holtz. The decision not to try to score from the opponents 40(!!!) was a Holtz like decision. The fact that we got the ball after the half should play 0 part on that decision. There is minimal risk in that situation. This is the equivalent of Holtz letting the clock run down with a timeout on 3rd down and kicking the FG instead of running a play. It was the wrong move and a mistake. In all fairness, it was a very well-coached game.. no hate for Strong. Just poor management on that particular play.
  14. Not throwing into the end zone as the 2nd Q ended was inexcusable. Very Holtz-like.
  15. Tice had the same predictable play calling.. don't get me wrong, he's a good back. There were some people who seemed to think we wouldn't lose a step after Mack left, which is obj not the case
  16. DJ flourished in that 3rd down role last year.. not convinced he is 'the guy'.
  17. DJ struggled. Had one great run, but otherwise was what? 50 yards on 20 carries? Tice needs to get the majority of the carries.
  18. I live right down the road.. really impressive facilty they have created. World Finals are this fall, and NCAA Championship is next year. Excited that USF will call it home.
  19. Ok cool.. figured that was the case. Shocked to see the Bucs policy! She doesn't need a ticket to get on a plane, but she does for a Bucs game!?
  20. We are planning on attending the Stony Brook game and are bringing our daughter (one year old) for her first game. Can anybody provide clarification on the ticket policy? Does she need a ticket? The Bucs website seems to indicate that she does, but I'm not 100% on the Bulls games. Thanks in advance!
