  1. hire him. good blood line. sounds like he wants the job. young -- energetic -- seems like a good fit. lets get on with it.
  2. Heath would be a tremendous addition.. He says he is interested..
  3. **** -- 1580 didn't get your son into UF?? What did he have a 2.3 and a felony?
  4. I do remember that B- crap at USF.. what a bunch of bull.. I get a 2.67 and the dude at UF gets a 3.0.. stupid. Joe = who got a lot of B-'s
  5. It will take a long time for this program to heal the horrible hiring move that was made when MAC was brought in.. It will be looked upon as the low point of USF's basketball program
  6. San Diego got filled also... I think by a Gonzaga assistant.
  7. heck of a coaching job done right there. good stuff
  8. I hear ya.. I just say -- then maybe they should evaluate your record by which classes you take rather then your overall GPA.. Nothing personal with you -- you sound like a smart guy -- and considering the fact that I can't spell I am thrilled with USF's lower admission standards.
  9. HA - pretty funny Drummer boy.. And to keep this thread USF Sport related.... If there is one guy who is single handily responsible for helping raise the academic standards its probably Matt Grothe. Why you say? He was the principal reason for a great year for USF football and a landmark win at WV -- which led to a ton of exposure -- which led to more applications for admission -- which leads to more selectivity.. which leads to higher standards on average. Nothing has helped raise the average admit scores for freshmen classes at UF -- more then there athletic programs.
  10. actually that is not how they "cycle" through... Per se my friend in the admissions office. How the process works? Once you meet a certain criteria you are an "automatic" admit. They have a percentage "expect to enroll" in this class. As you slide down the scale your application is more and more scruntinized. Until there becomes a level where they will not admit anyone below that combination of SAT and GPA.. Your 4.3 really doesn't do much but boost the overall average GPA of the freshmen class. The goal of the university is to have one of the highest GPA/SAT averages in the country because that is how people evaluate the quality of the institution. People associate "how hard it is to get in" with the quality of the education offered at the school. It is one of the many retarded things that surround the entire public education system. All that I am pointing out is that you should have a "perfect" score for a GPA. There should be a number that says this guy was "perfect." When you have people with 4.2's that doesn't exist. If classes are to easy so that 4.0's are easily achieved then maybe we should toughen up the classes. Lord knows Florida kids aren't leading the nation in math and science testing. my 2 cents.
  11. I do think its a GREAT job.. I think the next guy hired is going to win here and I would be willing to put a nice wager on it. I think USF hasn't really had a good coach in a long long time. Mark my word, no matter who is hired, the guy is going to win next year. But - I do understand why Marshall doesn't want the job. The big MISTAKE was not hiring him 4 years ago when he wanted it. It is going to take a long time to get over how bad of a hire RMC was. it was a terrible hire by any objective stand point.
  12. I think 4.3's are the dumbest things I have ever seen. Why does USF champion this retarded grade system. GPA's are so inflated its absurd. Get a 4.0 and spend your time studying for the SAT instead of trying to rack up 90 credits of college credit your junior and senior year. A 4.0 and 1550 should get you into a great Ivy League school. A 4.3 is like giving 110%... it looks great but sounds stupid. Joe -- who wonders why florida has temporary class rooms in the parking lots yet plenty of room to cut the property tax.
  13. Dude.. NO GOOD CURRENT HEAD COACH IS GOING TO RISK THIER JOB FOR A CHANCE TO COACH USF. Woolard has to see this. Who on gods earth is going to leave their job to come to a school that has had 4 or 5 coaches either fired or run out of town -- in addition has won 10 conference games in 4 years and hasn't made the NCAA tourny in 16 years? nobody worth a grain of salt. He is going to have to hire someone who doesn't hae a job and has nothing to lose.
  14. he thinks our program is in shambles and he doesn't want to risk all he has accomplished at Winthrop for a chance to coach USF in the Big East. He thinks there are are better programs out there that he will get a chance at. I thought this board needed a blunt and honest answer on why he didn't take the job. He isn't loyal to Winthrop..  If he was loyal he wouldn't have gotten on the plane. Its like the advice you get from a good sales manager.. "They don't walk on the lot unless they are looking to buy." We didn't close him. And Marshall came to the conlusion that after 5 straight coaches either being fired or walking away from this place, he didn't want to take the risk. I understand, but I think he is wrong about USF this time. The next guy is going to win here.
  15. Actually I don't think it had to do with his home state. I think it had to do with USF winning 10 conference games in 4 years -- Zero road conference games in 2 1/2 year -- and the last time they made the tournament he was probably playing basketball in college. If he was so loyal to Winthrop he wouldn't have been looking for a chance to interview at USF 4 years ago. I think he looked at USF and said -"To big of a risk. Nobody has won here since the Regan Administration - every coach has either been been fired here or run out of town in the last 20 years, no way I am risking all I have accomlpished at Winthrop for this place, I'll pass and wait for a better oppurtunity." I understand, but I think USF is night and day from what i was when RMC took this program over 4 years ago. I think the next coach is going to win a lot of games here.
  16. I think it was a valuable post. I was just mentioning that I haven't really heard of the guy.. This is a big search for me to. I really want to see a good USF basketball team before I die.. With hopefully 30-40 years left in life I am worried at the pace which this program is headed. Looking for an NCAA berth before 2025
  17. Reminds me of Randal Cunningham.. real nasty -- kind forgot how good this guy is. Credit goes to "Eats It" for the video of his site.. great thow too.
  18. didn't even know who he was... didn't ARK make the tourny and the sec final... odd.
  19. He is not back at square one. you guys have lost your mines.. he offered his first choice.. the guy said no thanks. he has like 5 choices.. Heck -- we have guys who sent in their resumes... relax
  20. he made an offer and the guy said no thanks. there is nothing wrong with that. he doesn't' think this is the right place to be. no probelm. Whats the big deal. Somebody will jump at the chance to work here. It will more likely be a coach who is not currently employed too.
  21. football team draws on avg 30K.... what else do you want? They haven't even won a conference champ yet. give it 5 years.
  22. I know. How do you have better then a 4.0..? Someone fill me in on that one. When I was in high school a 4.0 was a guy who got straight A's in every class all four years.. This giving more credit for AP is just stupid. "I have a 4.45 GPA" Whatever bro. Maybe that is why Florida ranks like 47th in the country in avg SAT scores. Flor-duh
