  1. I will be the first to admit that I am not that fond of LRS. I think he was a lot of talk. Brad knows this. Brad and I just disagree on this subject. I think Paul Griffin made some tremendous hires in his day and rescue our athletic program from the brink of financial collapse. And he think his name gets very little mention in the rise of USF He did hire CJL guys.
  2. decent pedigree though. former top assitant to billy donovan at both marshall and florida. was a star b-ball player at Kentucky... not that bad. i don't care anymore -- whoever is hired -- just win -- please.
  3. Brad.... How about you share a portion of that cut your getting from this company with the 3 wise-man -- we can sell a ketchup popsicle to a man in a white suit... Give us a cut of the deal brother.
  4. I just disagree with these comments. I don't think Mac was a very good hire. The more time that passes the more I think he wasn't the man we needed. Other then raising money -- did LRS make any positive personal moves at USF? I can't think of one.
  5. There has been very little talk on this board about the man that I believe set the foundation for USF's success.. I would like to know what many think abou the man who hired CJL -- who brought our atheltic department out of the "red." I think this university owes a lot to him. my 2 cents.
  6. do you really in your heart of hearts think that LRS did a great job? herman and I had this conversation tonight over a couple of beers. I contend that it was Paul Griffin that really set the stage at USF. He was the one who brought us out of the red - he was the one who hired CJL. If there is a glaring black mark on selmon's resume it was giving mac a 6 year 1.5 million dollar deal. that was TERRIBLE. totally out of line. he has been huge in raising money... but a yield most of our credit to Paul Griffin.
  7. He Mid-Atlantic.. 5 NCAA tournys in 9 years. Something very few can say.
  8. Brad.. I am full of convictions my brother. I think the answer is Bobby Lutz. I have said so from the on-set. 5 NCAA appearances in 9 years. Made the post-season 8 of the 9 years he has been in Charlotte.. Won the Con-USA tournament twice -- regular season champ once. 4 top twenty recruiting classes. Grant is all suit and still wet behind the ears. I'll take the sure thing -- and that is Mr. Lutz Call me when Grant goes to the tourny 5 times in 7 seasons.
  9. nah -- he reallys isn't that great of a coach. very sporadic at UCLA.. would win games and advance -- but they were all over the map.
  10. And I am not saying that Grant isn't a great prospect -- but he is not the second coming.
  11. They said the same thing about Jon Gruden and the bucs.  Grant had one good year -- but I was born and raised in Virginia -- my sister lives in Richmond -- i have known about VCU since I was 7 or 8. Jeff Capel is the guy that turned that program around.  I don't care how many times you don't want to admit it, but its the truth. Grant has proved he is a good coach with talent.  He is yet to fully mold that program. I think it is a bit of a risk -- why not go with a guy who has proven over an 8 year period that he wins. You act like I don't know anything about VCU or Richmond. I grew up playing tennis at Byrd Park off monument avenue and my sister had an apartment off broad street for a decade. I know all about Virginia Commonwealth. Don't tell me that Anthony Grant is the reason that team is SO good. They were dog-crap before Capel got there. 60 minutes did a story on Jeff Capel and the VCU program a few years ago. I am sure you missed it.
  12. The guy has one good year and he is the savior. Talk about quick fix syndrome. He didn't even recruit any of those players. the rhetoric on this board is absurd.
  13. I have them knocking off Pitt too. VCU to the elite 8 in hinkelbergers bracket. my sister graduated from VCU... i remember her graduation fondly. I was donking this great brunette my senior year in high school and we drove down saturday morming for the graduation. oh the days.
  14. it just think it would be very dis-loyal to the institution that gave you your first job to come in and leave after one year.. just not the right thing to do.
  15. chances of him leaving.. 5%.. i could see him go if a job like UCLA came open.. but he is not leaving for South Florida. i cant see it.
  16. Yeah -- Bull-gator is the minimum because they won't take your current season tickets from you.. and since Florida has been winning the last two years nobody is giving them up. Thus - the Athletic Department just ups the ante for the few seats that are given up by current season ticket holders.
  17. he is not coming here. no chance. not happening. never -- no -- nada - nil. can we move on?
  18. Although this suggestion will go un-noticed. Donations asked for by the University are about 15K higher then they should be. The idea that somebody should donate 5k dollars for a 50 yard line seat to a USF game is ridiculous. It takes about 10K for a Bull-Gator donation (the top level at UF) and you get a 50 yard line seat and a front row parking space -- and the Gator's won the national title. So maybe that is why season tickets struggle. Because if I go buy some I get crappy seats -- seats that are readily availabe if I just walk up and buy a seat. Makes zero sense.
  19. This guy is going to be there for atleast 3 more years. You must show some loyalty. you can't just take a job and then just leave at the next best thing. ridiculous.
  20. That is actually pretty funny velcro. I had GW to the sweet sixteen.
  21. nah. he just got to VCU.. you have to show some loyalty to the school that gave you your first serious coaching job. dis-loyalty is a terrible spot to have on your resume. He isn't going anywhere. He is waiting on a big time program too.
