  1. 2002 - BA Economics and Criminology. I don't know why I have two degrees -- so don't ask.
  2. I bet they go after the assitant from UCONN.. everyone needs to just relax and stop getting their panties in such a tussle. Don't be surprised if a few more guys turn us down.... that is why woolard inteviewed a zillion guys. This is how a job search works. You pick 5-7 candidates -- interview them all -- make an offer and then go from there. We will find a good coach.
  3. oh well... his loss... There is this underlying notion that USF isnt a good job and I think it is total crap. Its just as good of job as Gonzaga ever was.. We will find a good coach. This guy sure does like to waste peoples time though. I guess he is just sitting around waiting for the South Carolina job to open.
  4. I think the community will be all over this program when they win. Just like the Bucs in 1997-98... one year you couldn't give the tickets away -- the next year there was a waiting list. Same thing gonna happen with USF basketball.
  5. nah -- i can live with this dude as our coach. the guy has done nothing but win.. .... and I can't imagine he would risk all the chips and take this job if he didn't think he could win here. There is a difference between him and the other guys we hired. Marshall is capable of getting a really good job down the road, but wants a shot at the big dogs in the Big East. I don't think Greenberg and Mac had a ton of options. Marshall will. I think he takes the job by Wends. G-town in the final four has to help also.
  6. I bet Marshall is signed by wends... i got 2 bucks on it.
  7. blah blah blah.. he wanted the job. he still WANTS the job.
  8. What a bunch of garbage charges "disorderly conduct and obstructing or opposing an officer without violence." pure junk..
  9. BS! Gillien wanted that job. "Interviewed out of respect for Dickie V." Do you really believe that garbage..? He wants the job or he wouldn't have interviewed for it. I love people spewing garbage to cover for their ego in case they don't get it. "Doesn't really want the job and inteviewed out of respect for Dickie V.." HA! what a bunch of freakin bull.
  10. You will know WAY before that final four. No way woolard just sits out there hanging... He will get the.. "We made our offer, we need an answer by wends so we can try to find another coach."
  11. I like Gillien because he wants the job... He feels like he has something to prove. i like that in a coach.
  12. Atta boy jimmy... Way to scoop um up before they start sagging...
  13. Couldn't agree with your more VeryBullish. Lots of truth.
  14. What a retarded comment that is. How about 4 elite eights and a national championship -- yet he has an AD and fan base that won't get off his ass. The guy takes a sub-par team to the 2nd round of the NCAA's and people talk like he should be fired... That right there is a big middle finger to the entire KY organization. Way to go Tubby. Just another example of the fact that the labor and capital market is a two way street. Makes me think we should have made a run at Tubby..  Can't really see MN having that much to offer. JoeBalls- This speaks to your whining 'whoa is me' attitude. You think people are entitled to their job simply b/c they don't 'screw up'. Wake up you whiny liberal, this is a capitalistic society...If you don't do as good or better than the guy b/f you, your a$$ gets fired. Learn to deal with it. Why would UK keep somebody that has only gone downhill since his arrival? BTW - UK should NEVER have a subpar team. And someone needs to explain to me how 5 SEC titles -- 5 SEC tournament titles - 3 elite 8's and national title is underperforming.. fly me to the moon.
  15. Rueb... Tubby Smith found out that his services would be more valued at another university and told his current employer that he no longer wished to provide his services to them. I know that is a tough thing to understand in your republican head. But you can't sit here and tell me that Tubby Smith didn't perform. I think he gives them the fat middle finger and slaps these facts on his resume and tells them they can kiss his ass on the way out the door. Way to go tubby. -- Smith has led Kentucky to one National Championship in 1998, a perfect 16-0 regular season conference record in 2003, five SEC regular season championships (1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005) and five SEC Tournament titles (1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004), with six Sweet Sixteen finishes and three Elite Eight finishes (1999, 2003, 2005) in his nine seasons. He totaled 100 wins quicker than any other Wildcat coach except Hall of Famer Adolph Rupp, reaching the plateau in 130 games.
  16. It's comical how people think USF is this "awful" job. Its the Big East, its in Florida, its one of ten biggest schools in the country. You get a shot at Boehiem, Calhoun, Pitino, John Thompson.. You are coaching in the premier basketball conference. give me a break.. I never Liked this guy anyways.. Somebody is going to win at USF... Just like someone was eventually going to win at Rutgers in football. And when they do win -- they are going to be national big time.. ----------- Pelphrey out of USF mix Posted By Brett McMurphy at Mar 22, 2007 at 03:36 PM Updated Mar 22, 2007 at 04:04 PM Word leaked Wednesday that South Alabama’s John Pelphrey was no longer interested in pursuing the University of South Florida job. After The Tampa Tribune reported Thursday that Pelphrey did not receive a job offer, CBSSportsline.com confirmed Pelphrey was no longer interested in the USF job. And that was before the Kentucky job opened Thursday afternoon when Tubby Smith bolted for Minnesota. With Pelphrey out of the USF mix, the only candidates that have interviewed are Winthrop’s Gregg Marshall, the clear front-runner, and former Virginia coach Pete Gillen. On Thursday, Pelphrey confirmed what the Tampa Tribune reported Monday, about a meeting with USF AD Doug Woolard Saturday in Atlanta. Through the school’s sports information office, Pelphrey said: “I have met informally with South Florida about their opening,†Pelphrey said. “That’s where we stand right now.†A former University of Kentucky standout, Pelphrey obviously will go all out for the UK job. Another USF target and former UK star - UMass’ Travis Ford - canceled a visit to Tampa on Monday and indicated he wasn’t interested in the USF job. He also will have a great deal of interest in UK - as will 20 percent of all the Division I coaches.
  17. Pete Gillien wants the job. Why don't we give it to a guy who wants it...
  18. I am big Brett fan. Like his critical approach. Always given the admin a tough time. good stuff.
