Back when I used to work for the state there was never an issue with extending the deadline; But you had a lot of hassells if you tried to hire before the deadline. Our department was not even able to setup interviews untill the deadline had past. In a case like this I would not be surprised if they don't already know who they want and may be talking contracts under the table. But I would be surprised if we hear anything befor the 21st.

Since I have not seen an answer: After a quick Google search It looks like the current contract goes through 2012. My worst was Utah in 2001. We lost the game 52-21 and even worse our team lost their composure and had a huge number of peniltys and cheap shots. It was the only time I can recall being embaresed by our team. We have been beaten by worse scores but I was still proud to be a bull. At that game I wished I could have explained to the Utah fans that we don't normally act that way :'(

Other than the headline and the first line of the article I don't see anything to support Prado as the leading candidate. He is the first to be interviewed. (That may simply be due to where everyone was yesterday) I would be very surprised if there are not more interviews. No one from USF is quoted about him being the frontrunner. While I will support whoever is hired, I think that several of the other people who seem to be interested in the job would be better hires.

Since this is a Goverment job - The coach is an employye of the state of Florida. The University has to follow state hireing policys. This requires that the job be advertized for a period of time ( I think it is 2 weeks) before you can start interviews. We should be near the end of this wait. I am not shure how many people will need to be interviewed before the coach can then be hired. This is one reason that all goverment jobs take a while to fill

Samford is a small 1AA university in Birmingham Alabama. Undergrad enrollment 2941 Graduate students 1565 They Play in the Ohio Valley conference. The only reason that most people have herd of them is Bobby Bowden was their coach from 1959-1962.

Here is anouther reason that we need to make a bowl game this year -- The final regular season game (at Uconn) will be the 99th game we have played. The fact the bowl game would be the 100th game will make a great story for the press.
