  1. The way we have been playing the last couple games makes me wonder if we have been focusing on the short game and less on the quick strike.
  2. With our trouble with success in the intermediate to long passing game the last two games that's exactly what they needed to try to get confidence back and carry momentum into the next game. Don't like how we're doing better on the short passes and missing the longer ones. We want both, but the long gives us better quick strike ability. That's worth a few plays of risk.
  3. "South Florida isn’t the caliber of UofL, but it will still pose problems."
  4. Meh, you could have said that last year after A&M, but this is the same offense that proved itself last year only with more experience and a couple more weapons so there doesn't seem like much basis for this statement.
  5. You guys are too tough on the best corner to go through the program to date. Much respect and appreciation for what he did here and wish him well.
  6. 7 and 8 are probably set for quite a while. Wonder what # Judson will end up with?
  7. Unless there's something in their back pocket we're not aware of, it takes some of the credibility away when it's UCF in there instead of USF. Anyone educated between the two would be putting USF in there. Across all the categories listed as expansion candidate criteria/considerations, the only one they lead in is student base, and USF is very large relative to other candidates. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I sure hope any presentations to the B12 make this abundantly clear. How they remain at the tip of the media's tongue out in front of USF after an 0-12 season is mind boggling. In another couple months this should shift if things go as expected.
  8. Yep, and need the opponent-by-opponent game plan to come together as much as, and to aid the execution. I'm really hoping they picked up a few nuggets from Baylor. Having watched our wins from last year a few times over by now, there is definitely a lot of room and opportunity for improvement. If our defense at least stays steady and the offense takes it up by just a little, I think we could have a 10-win season.
  9. With Valdez-Scantling, McCants, and others I think we have the receiver depth. It's the O line that I'm more concerned about. Another big question going into this year is if we will have a kicker that can put the ball past the 15-yard line.
  10. Talks about being a deserving bowl team and refers to beating Rutgers, Syracuse, and Cincinnati, but no mention of #9 Louisville??
  11. With the combination of everything that we have going, this is nothing but by design. With the exception, of course, that no four star and up guys that we would take right away have offered to commit.
  12. It's great you guys have a new coach and are excited about your recruits, but I wouldn't come over here poking at our current count. You know how it's going to end up looking on signing day, so why bother?
  13. Not concerned at all about the count. Just the opposite, it's exciting they have the confidence to hold out for bigger fish.
  14. No one should be concerned about our commit count at this point. Just the opposite, it's exciting to see Taggart has enough confidence (must assume it's based on what he's hearing from the recruits) to wait for bigger fish unlike years past.
  15. That article is from the same year this thread was started, 2012.
  16. I agree. I think this is exactly what some on here have been looking for, an acknowledgement that they are well aware of and very focused on the situation. It's also saying it in a classy way that doesn't directly call out the desire to leave the AAC, unlike others have done.
  17. Let's take a look at the 2008 attendance. 48,058 UT-Martin 58,755 Kansas 50,307 Pittsburgh 51,384 Syracuse 47,216 Rutgers 42,422 UConn 49,500 Average Couple of thoughts/observations: We drew 48k when unraked against an FCS team, with really good momentum going into a season We were not drawing those types of numbers against conference mates like Pitt/Syracuse/Rutgers/UConn until we had success, and those games were not dominated by alumni of those schools any more than we would expect from the likes of Temple/Memphis, let alone Navy/ECU, so it seems a stretch to attribute the high attendance to their alumni - what I'm getting at here is these attendance numbers were driven mainly by our own success and it is repeatable even in our current environment I would speculate that even in a really down period in the Big 12 we would draw better than Kansas, for example, simply due to the notoriety of the visiting teams and Tampa being a destination
  18. I think you meant consolation prize. Anyone looking at recent attendance just needs to look at attendance when we were at our high, that's what continued success on the field will bring in relatively short order especially in a conference like the Big 12. I'm sure that's what's being said among those involved.
  19. Yep, I remember that story. Great professor. Him and Goolsby.
  20. What's weird is he was on the two-deep in rotation behind a senior as of the post-spring depth chart.
  21. So....any news on what recruits were at the game?
