  1. I don't see quit......I see a bad defense and offense that can't out of its own way unless it is allowed to freelance in a 2 minute drill which will end in either a TD or a TO. Maybe you could say our defense quits anytime it is 3rd down.....but I tend to lean to we just aren't very good. Maybe it isn't the talent and it is more the coaching that can't adjust. But how often do we stop anybody? Starting with the FAMU game last year, I always feel like we have to outscore the other team.....with the exceptions of the UM and UConn games and then our sputtering offense couldn't put anything together. Not defending the coaching though. Our offense looks like garbage 90% of the the game and then we finally decide to take "the offensive gameplan" out in the 4th quarter and suddenly they can move the ball. Partly this is due to the fact that you can see that they don't trust BJ. He can do some amazing things but he is also prone to turning the ball over when he is "freelancing".
  2. Yes....where were the Spurrier years? So was going to the Sun Bowl our version of winning a National Championship?
  3. Just in case you were disappointed that we missed out on Sam Cassell Jr to Maryland.....doesn't look like it is going to work out for him. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/09/11/report-sam-cassell-jr-ineligible-at-maryland/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/terrapins-insider/post/sam-cassell-sr-disappointed-by-ncaas-ruling-on-his-son/2012/09/14/c0af7230-feab-11e1-b153-218509a954e1_blog.html I saw a tweet suggesting maybe he would come here....but the way things go internally with our own review board....like with Waverly Austin....I tend to doubt Cassell would have any kind of a chance here.
  4. I see that it is being produced by ESPN. Probably will available on ESPN3 and as a "Big East Network" game....it will probably be available for a local affiliate to pick up if they like. http://www.mac-sports.com/Schools/BallState.aspx
  5. Speaking of the UCF game, has anyone heard any rumors as to when tipoff might be on 11/10? I am hoping for a Saturday night start.
  6. I guess he wanted to get away from home....but didn't want to be too far? That is the only way the Florida selection makes that much sense. If I were him....and I didn't want to play for Dad (which does have some advantages but I understand if you don't want to go that route)....the LITERALLY smart move would be to have gone to Notre Dame or Stanford.
  7. WTF is a rouse? I am going to assume the word he is looking for is "Ruse"....like a trick. Although, there is a grocery store chain in Louisianna called Rouses Supermarkets.
  8. Smazza I think you are just being negative again. Think about it....what has really changed? Basically, now TCU, WVU, Pitt and SU are in the Big Boy conferences. That is it. Prior to this year....typically if a player had an offer to UF, UM, or FSU along with USF......they usually went with the Big 3 schools. The Big 12, Pac 12 and Big 10 do not have a presense in our state.....so typically the players that leave for those conferences.....were going to leave anyway.....the situation with the Big East doesn't change that. The only scenarios that really affect USF recruiting due to realignment are 1) UCF is now on equal footing with USF as to conferences, 2) any recruits offered by WVU, Pitt or SU....may now have more reason to be swayed to leave the region. That is pretty much it. And in the past how many recruits have we gone head to head with WVU, Pitt and SU and won out? I would gather that is probably less than 20 in our whole history.....so I doubt you could say "Many" recruits will be affected.
  9. Heck no do you let Pitt pay 5 million. They should have to pay a total of 7.5 million at a minimum. $5 million and playing in the Big East through the 2013-2014 is all they are contractually obligated to. This thread is about the fact that SU is paying an additional $2.5 million more, in order to leave one season early. My point is.....you don't want to pay more.....fine......just play out your contract.
  10. Just to throw this out there in case anyone in the ticket office....or if anyone just happens to walk through the Sun Dome.... Any news on how ticket sales are going since they opened up to the public nearly 2 weeks ago? I went down there on 7/3 and most of the 2nd level was still available. If nothing else, it would be nice if some companies would buy up a lot of those $99 seats and give different people a taste for the games.
  11. I say just let Pitt pay the $5 million..... ....but they have to play 2013 in the Big East!
  12. I guess USF v Boston College. Pretty different choices there. Ken DeCelles â€@SBNVoodooFive Per just about everyone, Plant OLB Mitchell Wright choosing between Boston College an USF tomorrow.
  13. Maybe I am in the minority.....but I would have never penciled in Poland as the "starter" at 2 after last season......maybe after the 2010-2011 season.....but although he did have some contributing roles in many games last season.....I would say overall....he regressed last season from the previous one. Maybe if you don't think Hawkins or Brock will contribute anything.....but then Musa Abdul Aleem is also a 2 and will probably also play at PG because of lack of depth at that position. Rudd also can play the 2. I would think Poland will be down the bench with Noriega. I think it may be difficult to find either of them minutes.
  14. Well you might say we have depth at the 2 right this moment.....I can see that knee jerk reaction.....but aside from Hawkins with 4 years of eligibility and Musa Abdul Aleem with 3 years....you will only have one more season with Noriega and Poland (possibly Rudd if he gets his wish to leave early). You have 2 more years with Brock. So it's not like we can forget about the position. Plus you always have to worry about injuries.
  15. Dome looks great. I hope the General Public shows some interest. I was there this past Tuesday. One word of caution, at least in the corners, go and actually sit down in your seats before you buy them. Watch out for the handrails because in many cases the lower down you are (in the 2nd level) the higher the likelyhood that you will be looking at some of the court THROUGH the handrails. Due to code, some of the handrails are pretty high up and in the line of sight of a lot of seats.
  16. Well we can only sign so many WR's in a class. You can't expect to get them all.
  17. Actually things seem to be working out well for CJ Bennett at USA. Has 5 years of eligibility. Started 3 games as a true freshman, all 10 last year as a "Redshirt Freshman". He still has 3 seasons ahead of him as the incumbent QB. At USF, he would still probably be stuck behind BJ. So CUSA gives him a much better venue to showcase his talents, 5 years to do it in and it's an 8 hour drive to home. What more could he ask for? http://www.tampabay.com/sports/college/article1203463.ece
  18. Guess it is never too soon to offer. Hey it somebody local. http://www.tampabay.com/hometeam/blog/tcs-corbett-gets-usf-hoops-offer/13613/ Tampa Catholic two-sport star Chivarsky Corbett, a 6-foot-5 sophomore quarterback/wing player, has been offered a basketball scholarship by USF, Crusaders coach Don Dziagwa announced. Dziagwa said Bulls coach Stan Heath contacted him Sunday evening with the offer.
  19. Pretty sure the equipment manager would not like that suggestion.
  20. Yeah not much depth in the Ball Handling department. There would be Rudd......well that's it. With Nash leaving....you really don't have anyone else to bring the ball up the court and run the offense. I can't say anything about Musa Abdul Aleem because I haven't seen him. Hopefully he is healthy. But Noriega and McCloskey are spot up shooters who don't like to have the ball....except when shooting. Poland, Hawkins and Brock either like to spot up or make plays off the dribble.....but I don't get the impression any of them have much experience playing the 1.
  21. Not to get political....I agree that both parties are corrupt.....but it is hard to visualize a world where Alex Sink would have screwed USF and then turn around and do JD Alexander a favor. As they say....elections have consequences....this is one of them. However, if you voted the other way.....there would probably be a number of consequences the other way that you wouldn't like.
  22. If he sits tight....then I wonder if he will go ahead and give walk-on G Mike McCloskey a scholarship for his Senior year like he did with Alberto Damour.
