  1. Texas politician Lloyd Benson said that to Dan Quayle in the VP debates when Quayle made some reference to JFK. Regarding this thread....and I said this about Ronnie Banks....thank goodness PJ is a senior this year. Didn't I see this show for 3 years with Ronnie Banks? Oh he will be better this year...more experienced. I like the reference earlier regarding Trent Dilfer. That's what PJ and Banks reminded me of. Every year someone is trying to force feed me why he'll be good this year but nothing on the field gives me that feeling.
  2. Hey, the field is green. Boise State says that counts.
  3. Hey, at least it's not a gold iconic U on a gold helmet.
  4. I am not a Grothe lover yet. However, what I have seen of Grothe which is very little, is that he can put the ball in the vicinity of his receiver....something PJ has never shown me. PJ's passes are typically a) overthrown, underthrown, c) thrown behind the receiver, d) to the left or right of the reciever. Yes there were drops which canot be blamed on PJ however rarely is PJ capable throwing the pass in stride or on the numbers. If PJ were to be our starting QB, I say that is throwing away the season. We would be better off running the option offense where we did not throw a single pass. Just put 3 RB's back there and see what they can do...at least that would cut down on the interceptions and fumbles from the QB position.
  5. I was thinking about this QB race the other day...about the spring game. I'm like I don't see any way these 2 are even, unless Grothe is a lot worse than what he seemed. Yeah I know he made some bad throws for picks but he looked like he could make some throws on the numbers with touch. Carlton Hill never showed me that. PJ....well we know what PJ's throws look like. Well this is great news. Even if PJ has more experience and knows the offense better, I'd rather suffer through some growing pains with someone who looks like he can help not hurt this offense.
  6. Sileo has to be by far one of the dumbest radio guys I have ever heard. He reminds me of those guys who really don't keep up with sports but have lots of opinions on them. I can't believe people actually call him for his opinion. I wish 1010 or 1470 had a better signal since they have far better morning shows. Sirius or XM is in my future due to that knuckle-head. I hope the UM game happens but I don't expect it. I guess we all have our wish list. UM wants to play UF every year, USF wants UM, UCF wants USF, FAU or FIU wants UCF and Coppin State....well anyway, you get the point.
  7. I agree the worst on TV was the UConn game. I have a hard time more with the close gut-wrenching losses than the blow-outs. By the 3rd quarter you're like "whatever". One that wasn't mentioned that sticks in my mind was against the Western Kentucky Hilltopers like in 99 I think. They had a QB named Taggert that ran the triple option and they ran like 400 yards on us. We lost the game close but that offense drove me and the defense nuts all game. I could never tell who had the ball.
  8. UCF to the SEC........ ;D Even IF that were to happen.... ;D.....that's just so funny Ok...even IF Think about what you are wishing for.....at best 4-8 seasons every year. That's IF you could win all of your OOC games. You may get lucky and get Vanderbilt or Kentucky but I think they would beat you. I am a realistic fan. USF was lucky to be invited into the BCS and the whole Big East was lucky to have UWV beat Georgia. None the less, we played our cards right, we did surpass you. I know that is hard to accept....but really, you are probably better off where you are from a fan perspective than if you could join the SEC. I wouldn't want USF to join the SEC....how much fun would that schedule be? Well who's going to beat the crap out of us this week. At least in C-USA you compete and have a chance at winning something. Would you give up your CUSA championship game to be 1-11 or 2-10 every year...even with the BCS check at the end of the year? Where's the joy in that. If that's the case, switch alligences to Vanderbilt.....REAL nice campus. Way prettier than USF or UCF. Their MBA degrees are also looked at much better in the business world.
  9. I also agree that it's unlikly Hall will make the 53 man roster unless he really does well on special teams. Otherwise, he'll have to beat out Ernest Graham and he's at a disadvantage there in that he still has to learn Gruden's system. I could see him on the practice squad but I think he could make one of the other 31 teams 53 man rosters.
  10. My 2 cents. I think the consensus right now is that from the Spring game, PJ has more experience since he is a 5th yr player, Grothe showed more promise but he also is going to make stupid mistakes, and C Hill hasn't shown us much to get excited about at the QB spot. I think Grothe will eventually overtake the job but it may be awhile.
  11. I think the purpose of this thread is the Sundome can do whatever it wants with it's attendees but if you ban someone because you don't like what they write in the free press....there's a problem there. So what if the Tribune decides not to cover USF altogether. It affects recruiting, endowments, public perception. That is just stupid. I guess they have never heard of freedom of the press. I guess we could change our name to the University of Cuba at South Florida.
  12. I see it as a win-win. Let our program develop another year and we play a much more evenly matched team at home in Kansas. Actually, I'd just assume cancel the contract if that were financially feasible. If we start making a BCS bowl once in a while there is no reason for us to be playing 1 game roadies for pay. Can you imagine any of the current schools in the BCS bowls playing pay games on the road?
  13. Why really would we WANT to play FSU? Can you imagine how boooring that game would be. Probably about as boring as the Miami game. 2 really good defenses against 2 laugh out loud offenses. FSU has really taken a step backward since Mark Richt left for Georgia. We can thank them for being the joke in the BCS this year and taking some heat off the Big East. I'd just assume ignore them and continue to schedule decent 1 and 1's like the Kansas and UNC series. At least they don't try to make you feel like they are doing you a favor by playing them.
  14. Hopefully we don't have to play West Virginia and Louisville the weeks between the Kansas and UNC games. That would totally suck.
  15. Hey if he can complete a pass more than 3 feet away that is anywhere near the numbers of a USF player....I don't care if he is a 2' tall lawn knome.
  16. I only see 11 schools on Famu's schedule. That means they have 1 more game to schedule. I distinctly remember that game against the Rattlers was the inaugaral "Tampa Classic" in which FAMU would come to Tampa once a year. They said it may not always include USF. The "Classic" was a FAMU game not so much a USF game. Since that schedule only shows them having 4 home games I guess they really need the money. I still think they could end up on the schedule.
  17. I don't know if it's been posted yet but somebody believes in us, plus he thinks UWV has nothing to play for. Also he sees UofL winning. I agree with him.  ;D 7:45 p.m. ET (ESPN) No. 16 Louisville (8-2) at Connecticut (5-5) Cardinals QB Brian Brohm, who ranks second in the nation in passing efficiency, tore his ACL last week versus Syracuse and will miss the contest. That, and the fact that the Huskies are dog-sledding toward bowl eligibility, would seem to seal the 'ville's fate. However, whether Brohm's replacement, Hunter Cantwell, can play well or not is less pertinent than knowing the Cards have too many studs on defense to be denied. Louisville 27, Connecticut 10  7:30 p.m. ET No. 12 West Virginia (9-1) at South Florida (6-4) Do you ever visit Internet Movie Database? Don't you love when they feature an aspiring starlet on the homepage, as they did Wednesday, with the headline "Please meet Kinsey Packard"? And you're like, sure, love to. Where? When? OK, that riff is completely irrelevant to this contest, but then, thanks to the Bulls' whiff in East Hartford last weekend, this game is irrelevant to the Big East title. USF is 4-0 at home, with an average victory margin of 24 points, but here's what matters: the Bulls, in search of their first bowl appearance, are led by senior tailback Andre Hall. The Mountaineers are already assured a BCS bowl and may be just complacent enough to allow an upset. 18. FYI, I spoke with the ticket office earlier today and they mentioned sales for the UConn game Wednesday 03/01/06 were very brisk. He said they are already selling seats in the upper corners. I won't be able to make that one since it's a weeknight but I'll be there for the Michigan game next Saturday.
  19. What I was disappointed about not hearing is some of our future schedules. I know he won't say anything until after everything has been signed sealed and delivered. I saw a blurb in one of the papers the other day saying we should here something soon....but apparently this wasn't the forum to release it. They said something about talks with Oklahoma, Nebraska, and NC State. Penn State was trying to get us to sign another pay game which we turned down. I'd like to see us playing a few ACC schools and I know NC State really likes to recruit down here so maybe we can get something going. I'd like us play a few more good schools that we have a decent chance of beating...much like the game next year with North Carolina.
  20. Well friendly conversation is fine. However, what I think most are saying is we don't care about that school over there. Think about it, how would a Yankee fan feel if a Devil Ray fan came on their board and always talked about their progress and how great they were or would be. How they finished 3rd in the division. Eventually, the Yankee fan would be like...Dude... what make's you think I care ?!? How would you like someone from Weber College coming over to your board and tell you how great their girls softball team was? It's kinda like that old aunt who always told you how she REEALLY felt....ad nauseum....forever. So good for you UCF....now go play outside.
  21. Just to add to my earlier post, I needed to add more tickets to my block of 20. No dice. The only thing still left in the lower bowl is pairs of seats. No more than 2 together. But it's a nice problem to have. They said section 335 on the 50 yard line is nearly sold out also.
  22. No, I think it goes something like this.  ;D "Somebody told me...."
  23. Obviously I don't know what is left but I called the ticket office on Monday and bought 20 tickets at the group rate and got really good seats. On the 30-35 yard line sec 109 rows E, F, G and H all together. They were $27.00 a piece. If you want good seats at this point, get a group up or try to find a scalper before the game.
  24. Cee I agree with you that Pat Julmiste is what is holding this team away from greatness. I hold my breath every time he touches the ball which unfortunatly is every play. However, Adrian McPherson is NOT a good example of the answer. He jilted us and left us at the altar like many big name recruits in our early years yet he only has interest in us when he is at his lowest point. Then he tries to go to Tennessee State and that didn't work out. I would have been horrified to see our program step down to his level. What kind of respect could we have for ourselves? After completly destroying all vestiges of your career Adrian now you suddenly have interest in us? Adrian McPherson is a disgrace and the worst kind of athlete who thought the world owed him something. A better post Cee would be Carlton Hill couldve been our QB today.
