  1. I'm with NEBull to a large degree. The stupid monopoly called the "P5" is a much bigger villain than UCF at this point. I was totally OK with their national championship claim, but they didn't know when to stop and have just turned a valid argument into a silly internet meme. I also have not encountered a more vile internet fandom over the past two decades than the UCF boneheads. Yes, everybody has them. Nobody I've run into has been as maddeningly ridiculous as them.
  2. As close as all these American teams seem to be, I'm not sure seeding means a darn thing in the tournament.

  4. What a disappointing finish. Didn't see that coming.
  5. Dig yourself a hole, why don't you? C'mon fellas!
  6. Shane is good. There's no doubt. He just hasn't been consistently good like you need out of your Friday starter. We've had a lot of Friday starters over the years with lesser stuff, but they gave us good outings every week (Mark Roberts, John Gorham, Casey Hudspeth, Randy Fontanez, etc.) - outings you could count on. I think we were all hoping for that from Shane. If he was more consistent on Fridays, we'd be having a pretty dominant season in the league. We'd probably be 15-5 right now.
  7. They're playing at home, right? Looks like the Bulls are starting to make a run this morning . . .
  8. It's really going to be interesting to see what happens with all the juniors in this year's class and how many of them return for their senior year. McClanahan, Perez, Genord, Villar are all likely to go, right? But how about Zech, Dietrich, Montes, Chatfield, Dutka, Phillips, Wisely, Cruz? I could see them returning.
  9. He's out this year with Tommy John. Class of 2019 commit Rese Brown: https://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=406198

  11. And he'll be a huge disappointment in someone's minor league system if he can't start throwing strikes.
  12. Talking over the seemingly odd move to bring this kid in with a buddy of mine this morning, he suggested this scenario: What if the staff already decided it's Oladokun who'll be the starter next fall, but didn't announce it because they knew it would result in Kean's transfer? He's not going to ride out the rest of his time sitting behind an underclassman. The Barnett addition ensures you have a more veteran backup in the wings and don't have to look at Battle or McCloud yet.
  13. Yes, it is an exaggeration, but I've been on and off this board for years because of just this. Brad knows. If you don't think it's an issue, you're not paying attention. I thought we were all BULLS?
  14. Why does every thread on this message board eventually turn into a pissing match? It's unbelievable. All I did was post a thread about a great looking USF baseball signee.
  15. I don't know about the legitimacy of the his numbers, and I've never seen him pitch in person. I will say that he was the all-area player of the year as a junior and looks to be on his way to repeating it. If you know anything about prep baseball in the Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice area, that says a lot. There has always been good prep baseball here, numerous state champs (Sarasota, Riverview, Venice) and a long list of MLB draft picks/stars hail from the area. USF has had some good success over the years with kids from this area (Joe Cavallaro, Casey Hudspeth, Kevin Boles). He looks to be a very good addition to a team that's losing some key arms after this year.
  16. You're right. Still not a bad ball club that I saw and he did dominate them. That's a tough district. Sarasota has won multiple state championships.
  17. And he's pitching against some very good teams - district with Manatee, Sarasota, Palmetto are all really top-level high school programs. The school where I work has a good program. We're 17-4 and Manatee pounded us 13-7.
  18. I put this info on the baseball commits link on the Prospects/Recruits board, but it's a little buried and I think it's worth repeating here. Lakewood Ranch High pitcher Pablo Garabitos - a USF signee - has a stat line this season (according to Max Preps) that I had to do a double take on. He's 10-0. In 70.2 innings, he's allowed 39 hits, ONE earned run, walked 12 and struck out 90! He threw a one-hit shutout with 13Ks on Tuesday night vs. Manatee to put his team into the district title game. I have no idea what his draft status might be for the summer, but we obviously need to get this kid on campus.
  19. Garabitos threw a one-hit shutout with 13 Ks for Lakewood Ranch vs. Manatee in the district semifinals on Tuesday. Gotta keep this kid away from MLB and on campus next year. His stat line this year according to MaxPreps: 70.2 IP, 39 HITS, 1 ER, 12 BB, 90 K
  20. He's done a good job and I like the continuity. There's much to be said for that.
