  1. Don't know if this has been posted before, but here's some good background on Barnett. The more I read, hear and see about him, the more I'm convinced he may just win the job - and that would be OK: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/from-tuscaloosa-to-tempe-to-tampa-the-long-winding-road-of-new-usf-qb-blake-barnett/
  2. I'm with Brad. It may go to the 11th hour, but . . .
  3. Billy Mohl would have to be pinching himself if he goes into the 2019 season with Joe Genord AND Shane McClanahan still on the roster.

  5. I haven't been active on this board long, but I'm still trying to figure you out.
  6. I think we can all pretty much agree that he is the weakest beat writer the program has ever had. He doesn't come anywhere near measuring up to guys like Greg Auman, Brett McMurphy or Joey Johnston.
  7. Right. I don't buy the Memphis love minus the QB, two-time 1,000-yard wideout and with a defense that gave up 31 to UConn, 29 to Louisiana-Monroe, 31 to Southern Illinois, 45 to UCLA and SMU, and 102 in two games against UCF.
  8. Didn't they lose a difference-making WR, too? Yep, all-time leading receiver Anthony Miller. So they lost their top WR, QB and they couldn't stop anyone last year but people still like them?
  9. Are we going to be welcoming him back for his junior season? Anyone have any insight here?
  10. Why all the love for Memphis? Didn't they lose a lot to graduation?
  11. Based solely on what I've found on the internet, the 2019 class looks really strong - stronger than the 2018 class.
  12. I stumbled on a site that lists the following commits for the 2019 class: Dillon Besnier, Riverview, OF Rese Brown, Lake Brantley, RHP Daniel Cantu, Creekside, SS Jack Jasiak, Springstead, RHP Orion Kerkering, Venice, RHP Tanner Mink, Palm Harbor University, 2B Andrew Washington, Northgate, Georgia, RHP
  13. I'm sure it's more sloppy than intentional in this case, but still takes some shine off a story about a great accomplishment.
  14. Your "facts" are completely irrelevant to the original point I was making - that USF has historically only had success with mobile quarterbacks. Or do you consider the Ronnie Banks and Mike White tenures successful? Is that what your facts are meant to present? Oh, never mind. Jeesh!
  15. Check out the caption on the 2012 archive photo our friends at the Times used with their editorial on USF's preeminence: http://www.tampabay.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?avis=HI&date=20180628&category=ARTICLE&lopenr=306289542&Ref=AR&profile=1082&__twitter_impression=true
  16. My understanding is UCF currently meets 7 of the 11 required measurements for preeminence, so they still have a ways to go.
  17. Right - and our non-mobile QB years led to disaster (see: Ronnie Banks, Mike White, et al) - which was my point.
  18. We've never had success with a QB other than one that could make plays with his legs. I'm hoping we are aware of and learn from that history.
  19. Post of the year, Mike! And the coronation came at UCF.
  20. Preeminent status in the state, a named corporate sponsor for the Sun Dome, a very promising new AD hire . . . great happenings at the alma mater! Go Bulls!
  21. How does Mr. Tom Jones possibly know this? He has sources inside USF athletics? Color me surprised. Maybe he can help out his colleague and beat writer.
