I understand the resoning behind the whole "closed organization" rule, but is it true that you have to audition to get into the HOT?  When I was it (football season of 2003), there were no auditions for the full (football) band, but there were auditions for the show band and basketball band, yet these bands were only limited to those who were in the HOT for the previous football season.  Is this still the case?  I'm sure one of our resident HOT members can clarify. "Closed orgainzation" my ass.  That boy is putting a true spin on it.  That "boy" is me.  I would like nothing more to fund the Herd of Thunder (see my signature)... BUT SG can not rightfully use A&S funds for the Herd of Thunder becuase it is closed... the band is a class and requires auditons or at least musical ability.  It's a class.  A&S fees do not fund classes.  If USF General Counsel told me that the fee funds could be used... I would be the first one lobbying for it at this years ASRC meetings. The SG Statues might be able to be amended to allow funding for the band.  Although... even if the laws were amended... it's doubtful that we would have enough funding to pay a portion of the band budget or for uniforms without cutting from other programs.  The student fee isn't out of the question.  Like I said in the article... the administration didn't really bring it up seriously. A&S fees do not fund classes. Why didn't you just say that instead of going the round about with the "closed organization" propaganda. I personally do not believe that HOT would deny membership to any student, even one with NO music ability or one that could not play an instrument. But, that is my spin. It makes perfect sense that the SG can not fund classes. I honestly don't even know why SG is involved here. This is a CLASS and should be funded as such with the proper equipment.
