  1. BigB, you guys were great. I also liked the "Hey, Hey, Hey" for the kid that looked like Fat Albert.
  2. After Marlyn missed the dunk and threw a pass up into the stands, he was very tentative and passed on about 3 open shots.
  3. SFF is correct about the alumni bases. Remember, when the women played UConn last year, they drew more fans than a usual men's game. Wait until we get those men's teams in here.
  4. To get more students there, 2 things: 1. Create an ongoing contest between dorms and frats/sors that they have to be in attendance to participate and win something worthwhile ($1,000, free party, whatever). 2. Free keg inside at student entrance (with proper ID of course!).
  5. TL was very upset with himself and the free throw shooting. When they were shooting the last free throws, he was just shaking his head at himself. He's a very emotional guy. Fans who turned out were really into the game - it was a great atmosphere. SD management came around the second level just when the game started and invited a couple hundred people down into the student sections.
  6. in both the Coaches poll and Sagarin rating. Didn't realize they were ranked that high. Makes the line of 3.5 mean USF getting some respect.
  7. Gilmore is an absolute playmaker and a real athlete. It is a pleasure to watch her operate.
  8. Funny this came up and you said that. At the WBB game tonight they do indeed have the curtain back up covering the 3rd level and a new curtain is drawn behind the band to block out the 2nd level at that end. I bet they keep this up for tomorrow. Also, new carpeting has been put down in the lobbies of the dome with a huge U logo in the carpet - looks awsome and is easy on the feet for us older guys.
  9. Rat, this is awesome you are getting organized. For Bball when other team is introduced, hold up newspapers like reading them and not paying attention - after each player's name is announced yell "who cares", "too short", "big deal", "overrated" etc. in unison. When the coaches name is announced, yell "get a job". When handing out newspapers before game, hand out a small sheet listing the order of the yells.
  10. Hopefully enough students will be back to at least fill their 2 side sections. I think the band will be lonely once again behind the basket.
  11. GKF, we should play you guys again in Bball. I know we played at the garage and also at the Ice Palace when we needed to play a season game as host of one of the NCAA rounds.
  12. I agree. Another option is what the Mutiny did. They had a ring of banners on poles about 20 feet high in front of the first row of the top level. Probably easier to put up and take down than massive tarps and it blocked the view of all those empty seats from down below. Also, why not pull the black curtain again for basketball to block the third level? I see they still have the wires up to do that.
  13. Meetings start today in Dallas. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050107/SPORTS/501070348/1001
  14. Yes, but UM only sold out 1 game last year.
  15. They used to turn off the lights and use spotlights to introduce the Bulls.  Kinda cool, but I think they stopped because the SunDome lights took like 10 minutes to come back on after being off and delayed the jump. Also, remember when the students held up newspapers when they introduced the opponent and shouted "who cares" at each player introduction plus "get a job" after the coach's introduction. That kind of stuff made the games fun.
  16. It seems now that if a dunk occurs and we take the lead or are leading, the crowd really gets into it and gets loud for the subsequent defensive run down the floor. I thought the cannons were great, but after a couple teams complained, they were stopped. I have also noticed the last couple games they don't have the noise that sounds like wind chimes when we make a free throw. Someone must have complained about that too. I think it is an NCAA rule now there can be no music or artificial noise when the ball is in play, even between foul shots.
  17. Brett M. was just on 620 with Ronnie Lane and talked for about 10 minutes - mostly basketball, how team is improved. Discussed TL & BS worth the price of admission and promoted UAB game. Also discussed football schedules, move to BE and how things in general are looking up for USF. Not sure who set this up, but I don't think I have ever heard anyone discuss the Bulls for more than 30 seconds on 620.
  18. You are correct and yes, I think they will open the upper bowl before declaring a sold out lower level. There was discussion on here that they were prepared for the Army game to open 3 upper level sections on the home side if the walk up warranted. I really think there will be more than 41,000 sold in advance (including the anticipated student/free allocation) for FAMU.
