  1. We are getting the hell up out of this **** hole we call a conference?
  2. A way more fun drinking game would be to take a shot every time one of our fans tries to convince everyone that UCF winning is ultimately good for us.
  3. It typically has to do with people hearing his AAC record, not knowing his final year at Louisville was in the AAC and assuming the record is for his time here but that only gets us to 3 years at 28-3. So idk
  4. At least you are nice and ask people to explain, I usually jump straight to preaching at people when I misread their posts. It’s a flaw I’ve grown to accept about myself. Some people try to stay zen in life and some people actively seek reasons to fly off the handle.
  5. P5 quality wins would be described as you are describing, G5 quality wins would be paper champions only rated as high as they were because they never had to face the rigors of a “real conference schedule” and everyone knew they were destined to fail as soon as they faced any adversity but were facing pressure to rate them high so as not to appear biased.
  6. Teams finish undefeated pretty close to never in college football so it’s probably advantageous to goal 1 that other teams in our conference lose every once and a while or else it may not matter if we beat them or not. The majority of probability models have our chances at winning out at somewhere south of 2% ( and while I may think it’s marginally higher than that I do recognize it’s a long shot) so we kind of could use a few losses of our conference foes in our back pocket. Also to number 2 there is no such thing as a quality G5 victory in the current system and it’s by design. Let’s pretend the game happened this weekend and no other teams lost but we beat UCF, how far do you reasonably think we move up in the standings? G5 teams can only move up thru attrition of P5 teams and it sometimes takes several hits to them to even do that. UCF being undefeated only helps UCF to accomplish any goals and it is never of benefit to USF and actually detracts from any goals we may hope to accomplish.
  7. It gains us nothing, there is no such thing as a quality G5 victory in the world in which we live.
  8. I remember it vividly and that story ended badly for us and gave us no future benefit in any way shape or form. If anything it’s a cautionary tale about how cheering for other teams to buoy your boat with their success is shortsighted and stupid and will only lead to longterm disaster for your program as you get left high and dry and ESPN rips your conference apart from limb to limb. The BEAST was nothing like the AAC it had traditional teams still in it and was begrudgingly to the rest of the world remaining a power conference that all of media and fandom mocked at every turn as they desperately waited for it to be destroyed and to lose power as teams continued to be picked off. This is in no way to be confused with our current situation where we have a conference that has never had any power, teams that are not traditional power rich schools and a cabal of conferences that have specifically banded together with the expressed purpose of keeping themselves in power and separated from the G5. There is honestly no long term, short term, medium term or any term benefit to USF by having UCF win anything at anytime and it is painfully obvious. CJL was right to have wanted to leave them in our rearview mirror at 0-4 as bringing them back into our lives has done absolutely nothing good to our program and everything good to theirs.
  9. I’m not convinced that Joey wasn’t just tasked with writing a nice feel good piece on the kid and then killed him so as to ruin the ending of the story for us.
  10. Pretty much every team and fanbase aims to wrap up their place in a championship as soon as possible, this is the first place I’ve ever seen where people thought prolonging the drama was somehow more beneficial to their team. We are an odd bunch. If we win against UCF the only thing directly tied to that victory is the stupid bore on I-4 trophy which doesn’t get any bigger for them being undefeated or defeated when we play them. As I keep pointing out to the blind, with little acknowledgement , is that going undefeated in college football happens to a program about as often as Halley’s comet so hoping UCF remains undefeated up until we play them almost assures that when we do play them the only thing we would be playing for is to hope to maybe ruin their season with them having two solid years of being on top, no thanks that’s dumb with absolutely no upside and a potential to differentiate our programs but in an unfortunate and bad way (and i didn’t even know that’s possible).
  11. If every win wasn’t against teams that finished the season undefeated than they aren’t exciting and probably shouldn’t even count as victories.
  12. I make me laugh. The moral of the story is the odds of finishing a season undefeated is somewhere at or below 1/129, so having teams be undefeated until their last game and then praying we are in a position where beating them to matter to getting us to the next level aren’t exactly strong. If we have them win all their games and lose to us in the final game but we tie our best season ever that means they go to the conference championship and the NY6 bowl game and we get to go to Ray Jay for our bowl game. Thinking that’s somehow good or worth it just so we can say we beat them while they were undefeated seems kind of like cutting off our nose to spite our face, but I guess if it means more bravado it’s probably worth i.
  13. #metoo that sounds kind of rapey but the issue with that plan is sometimes when it’s your turn to “take” things the opportunity is already gone. If we care about having more opportunities in life they come around more often when people lose every once and a while. Going undefeated rarely happens in any season of college football so it would be nice to have an occasional room for error.
  14. Except what if we are in a position where beating them still results in them going onto the conference championship and a NY6 bowl? We will have won the battle but lost the war and I think they would have more reason to laugh and celebrate than we would. The best way to crush their spirits is to have them thinking they will never win another game again and for any recruit to know they will be losers for life if they ever step foot on that campus. Emboldening them doesn’t destroy them in any way it just continues to grow their hype machine and detract from us.
  15. Not only that but he could get them even better jobs the following year even without playing for them, that’s pretty **** good.
  16. Ultimately that’s the most important thing even if we disagree over the FACT that other teams being in complete shambles would mean more ass kicking for our beloved Bulls as opposed to those teams winning national championships and leaving us here to rot alone in the conference that tv money forgot. When we helped them go defeated twice they looked pretty crestfallen.
  17. I can’t knock you for having dreams, it just seems like to big of a leap of faith for me to fashion my rooting around but at least I kind of understand where your position is coming from ( not to be confused with agreeing in anyway) and I can now leave it as a civil disagreement instead of complete bewilderment.
  18. Maybe that’s where the disconnect is. If I thought there was any chance at there being a P6 perhaps I could be swayed in your direction but as it currently stands we are more than 10x removed from the closest P5 conference and right beside the rest of the G5. I do not see how there could be enough the AAC could do that would compel the powers that be to give up their money and power to us. Further more if one team was responsible for closing that gap it would be cheaper and more likely for that team to get called up than for the entire conference to, see the falling apart of the BEAST when it became time to pay us.
  19. One day I will make my USF football Ulysses, until then the similarities will probably end at drinking.
  20. People get all butt hurt about internet “yelling”, I guess lots of people rely on text to talk.
  21. But what’s the value of it being sooner? Why not just hope that if it happens that it’s us and should we never get there at least being thankful that no one else in our situation has accomplished what we haven’t? As you noted the ultimate good for USF would be for us to break thru the glass ceiling so why not just wait for that to happen instead of hoping someone else does it and we maybe lucky enough to be able to draft off of them?
  22. I feel paragraphs do not present the tone my rants try to convey. Runon sentences and and one solid flow of thought in a giant block are my friends.
