Wrong. One option opens you up to collateral, law suits, liabilities, etc... No guarantee that you will make "money" as you say in this possible new venture. Don't be so blinded by an offer. As they say, the Devil is in the details...(something which many private owners do not like to disclose). BINGO! Gotta go with KL on this (yuck), the ole if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Thirty-six thousand is not a ton of money to raise for partners, and if this partner indeed wanted out, on what you are presuming to be a lucrative situation, that's curious. Be careful and make sure all details are spelled out before you sign a thing Terry. Don't get blinded by the compensation offer, and presumption that your hard work will pay itself off. Some situations are far more risky and no level of hard work can make it solvent. Sometimes opportunities are far more convoluted then one can imagine and behind the scenes you find some serious debt, malfeasance, or mismanagement. I am not suggesting it is here, but go in with your eyes wide open because a mis-step owning a corporation could be far more detrimental to one's career and financial situation then paying down or foreclosing on a personal mortgage. I would contact an attorney and bring in some expertise because joining an active corporation as a partner should not be done by one's self. I would suggest you form an LLC, particularly if the partners want you to be contingently liable for all partnership liabilities, which you would own 100%, and would take the ownership interest they're offering you. This LLC would insulate you from lawsuits but maintain all financial benefits as 100% of cashflow in the LLC flows to the managing members. Tell them all past dealings- liabilities, benefits, obligations will be guaranteed if necessary not by you but by your LLC (which shouldn't be a problem unless there IS a problem)...then moving forward any decisions, liabilities, and benefits made/received by the current three partners you would take those obligations personally because you would be able to make those decisions with all the salient facts and understanding. JMHO!

I am going to say right now that dining hall needs to be the numero uno priority for USF and their fans. Leavitt wants it bad, and if it doesn't get built soon that will not make him happy. BTW the dining hall will benefit all sports, so if it gets built not only will it improve football but the overall facility upgrade for all sports. Get that built, like you said football is where we'll make our mark and dollars. If we can get to a BCS game, and start putting 45k+ in the stands for football many more sports will be able to thrive on the dollars generated by football.

Which is why when Vitale said this is one of the toughest jobs in America he was not to far off. Some may feel it's more 'appealing' from a coaches standpoint, because of the conference affiliation, and visibility like more appealing as a job then say a C-DOA school (outside of Memphis) which is probably accurate, BUT any coach coming here will have a difficult task ahead of them because they're going to have to compete against the nations best, in the nation's best hoops conference, with the cheapest budget by far. Don't agree, just look at joe's stats they're dead on. If someone offered you a job and said you had to be better then your competition, but you'll have less resources, less support, worse facilities, less exposure (tv), and a worse salary but you have to beat the competition in a year or two, or your fired. Tell me how that's not a tough job? Tell me how many 'top notch' candidates will be clammoring for this job. Funny, the two names I've heard as possible candidates are recycles from our last go around. This is not a candidate coming from the University rather coaches that are soliciting the University. Whether you want CRM gone or not, much of the disfunction in hoops is directly attributable to the dollars, support, and fan base...until that improves the prospects to improve, regardless of the future staff, are not totally bright.

Blade, Good post and I never have a real problem with smazza's posts about recruiting classes, or comparisons because they are generally based from an uninformed perspective. However, within your post the one point you're sliding over is in addition to smazza's bashing of recruiting classes, talent, and overall school...he also bashes Leavitt and others, which is where I draw the line. As you stated, and you are right that few recognize Leavitt has a keen eye for talent, and is good at coaching up talent, and finding spots on the team where they can be most effective, but that is the skill of a great coach. One that at this juncture can't recruit with the big dogs, despite smazza's assertion or wishes, he's not going to steal a bunch of 6-5 260lbs five star DE's, so he's going to have to grab the tweeners, build them up, build up the program, and after winning with that group hopefully enough attention, notoriety, and support is provided this program and then he can snag a few of the five star guys to compliment his already great ability to develop and coach up talent. This is exactly how Bobby Bowden built FSU, and other schools that started from the ground up built their programs. You can't condemn recruiting, and then after our coach has a great year also condemn his coaching...maybe it's one or the other, but most that are realistic realize that it's neither. He's got to make due with what he's got, and hope for a few big dogs to fall his way, and then build that way....it's the way all programs grow from scratch.

Curry, Jones, and Holmes are unproven, but they came to us with lots of talent.  Curry was tearing up the practices until his injury, we shall see what happens but no one is putting 'unreal' expectations on them just come in and do what they are capable of doing and they will be fine.  All three were very good outside shooters with the ability to dribble penetrate.  Holmes was ranked higher than Altron coming out of HS, so the expectations are already there whether you like it or not. Jesus definitely needs to learn to play within this team, and that's his problem right now he's not getting into the flow of this offense and not being assertive enough when the time comes.  CRM has sat him for that very reason.  Put the defense aside because he hasn't been that bad at defense it's the offensive side that we need more from him.  He has scored 20pts for us twice when he first started, but has tappered off considerably as the team slowly molded into the CRM style offense, an offense he needs to get more comfortable playing within. We all heard all of this before. Aris Williams and Zeus looked great in practice yet for one reason or another it hasn't clicked. The only transfer player that is playing well is KG. That is the caliber of player we need to recruit to play for USF for FOUR years. BTW....while Holmes, Curry and Jones are talented they have never been considered "can't miss players". I think we need to be watchful and moderate how much of a difference they are going to make next year....regardless of who is the coach. USF needs to camp out in front of Scott's door over thenext couple of weeks and hope we can still get him to sign with USF. We also need to find somebody to replace Buckley. While buckley is not great....we have nobody on the roster who replace him. That is the biggest worry. Cyber do you chase me around now to get into it? Verdejo dropped in 24 in his debute as a Bull, now because he's struggled he sucks?  He's young give him time to develop in this offense. Zeus has a lot to improve, but don't be so **** demanding for a turnaround just because you want the coach gone.  Zeus is a sophomore, playing in his second program in two years, he's shown some great flashes for USF- 14 points against those supposedly tough Quette guards.  What is the kid suppose to do drop in 25ppg before he's considered a good player?  Heck Buckley's been great this year dropping in almost 17ppg this year and averaging 6rpg and still no respect on this board.  I think the fact Zeus has signed, and even played at Arizona as a freshman proves that he's can play, but systems, confidence, comfort that all plays a part in a player's success.  Of course, if some of you think your smarter then Lute Olsen... Remember in Mac's system the guard play is different, and this is why Kentrell Gransberry thrives in this offense because it is not a transition offense, it's the Lon Kruger style, half-court inside out game.  Gransberry will thrive because he is the focal point of the offense, it's not that he's the only 'great' recruit we have, it's because outside of the PG, Kentrell gets the most touches on the ball, i.e. the more you touch the ball with a greenlight to shoot the more productive you will be.  Remember Kruger's offense at UF, Declerq, and Demtri Hill, it's all about the center in this game.  And some of you need to realize that players can be great with different facets of the game, Howard isn't a pure outside shooter but his distribution skills, he's actually a pretty good dribble penetrator watch Quette game, and ND again, but he picks his spots and is a little tenative with it now because of the knee. If you all enjoy hoops then appreciate guys for their skill sets and what they bring to the table. I seem to recall six years ago Uconn having El-Amen as a PG, kid couldn't hit the broad side of a barn door, but they won the NC with him (and he wasn't a great dribble penetrator), why- simple because he was a floor general, and got the ball to the right players at the right times- that is a skill in and of itself. Granted Howard needs more options like El-Amen had, but some help is on the way. Curry, Holmes, and Jones will be a welcome cyber because they give us more shooting options outside.  I, unlike some of you, am not looking for them to be a savior just provide more shooting strokes outside to give us more scoring options from more spots on the court.  Particularly when others go to the bench.  No one will be a 'savior' in Mac's offense because that's not how the offense works, it's not about a guard dropping in 28pts, you're more apt to see the center, or PF as a leading scorer then a guard, unless that guard goes white hot from the outside.  His offense relies, or is more successful with good perimeter shooters.  Adding Curry, Holmes, and Jones gives us MORE perimeter shooters and cyber the last I checked more shooters is a good thing- at least on your team.  Verdejo isn't a pure perimeter shooter like those three, he's a transition guy, a dribble penetrator, and therefore he's been struggling in this offense pure and simple. Good grief man, Howard has scored in double figures in four games this season. He's a RS freshman that's working on a tender knee. You haven't a frickin clue what you are talking about. Give it up, you don't like how things are working then fine.

[smiley=loser.gif] Well I thought USF did the right thing when they made the players sit for the originally levied suspension.  I suppose some people would think it was due to media scrutiny or what not but we'll never know.  I'm not against the 20% rule since it is in line with the rest of the Big East (Note i haven't checked that fact).  But it does seem to be problematic that a lot of players have been getting a lot of chances but not making good on it.  And I think TripB is piling on to someone for agreeing with the veracity of that.  Big man, TripB's a big man or something.  A lot of players or a few select individuals that can't seem to right their own ship. The root of this thread, and KL's accusation centers around three players. Out of 110 guys that's hardly a lot of guys. They got themselves in this trouble and were given a chance, based on the rules and Code of Conduct to right the ship and they didn't take care of their opportunity. That's life.

Why don't you look up the article Greg references that quoted Barry Clements, and there it will explain the rules were changed BEFORE the players had their positive drug test. The article also states how USF came about it's policy and it wasn't as you allege to get around the rules to get these boys eligible it was done by a very measured and calculated process in which it was discovered our previous policy was harsher then most 1-A schools, and a major drug counseling firm that stated a 20% suspension was more likely to help student athletes seek counseling versus over punishing and policy ruining their lives. Check the root article and that will rebuff most of your allegations and claims.

I've only missed three games...do you have any idea how to evaluate players?  Verdejo has one of the fastest first steps I've seen, anyone that has a clue can see that.  Verdejo's problem is he's uncomfortable in this offense, his game is more designed for a transition, perimeter game with lots of dribble penetrations and more of a guard centric team...ironically like the school he left Zona.  Here CRM runs a half-court inside-out game, that centers around an interior bigman that can handle the rock and dish the ball.  It takes time for Zeus to figure out where his spots are on the court and during the game, that translates to you meaning he needs to know what points are best for him to attack the defense in this type of offense and when to take his shots. Right now, the offense is centered around Buckley and Gransberry and Zeus' confidence is shot, he's not taking shots, or picking his spots.  He's been tentative to the hoop, and at times seems disinterested on offense.  It's like night and day from when I saw him play in his first few games and was lighting it up, to now.  NOW, if you were smart Ari and knew hoops this is where you could hop in and assassinate CRM for blowing Verdejo's confidence by constantly benching him, not flowing the offense through him at all, and not working him into the flow of the game better, and for signing a player that clearly is more conducive to the transition offense and pushing the ball up and down the court and not CRM's slow half court style. And because of the differences it's going to take Zeus time to learn this style, but CRM could find better ways to work him in.  Second, Howard is a fantastic guard, dude the guy was POY in the Washington DC/Baltimore Area, and was on the 1st team all-region with four other big time players.  Dude can ball, but in case you haven't heard he's coming off a **** knee injury.  To appreciate Howard you have to watch how he circulates the ball, and is instinctive on his passes...no look, Jason Williams, passes are for *******, a good PG controls the flow of the game much better.  The faster you move the ball around the perimeter the easier it is to get a shot off....you'll notice that when Howard returned Buckley's shooting percentage and point total shot up.  WHY?  Because Chris Howard has good vision and he's getting the ball up court quicker, moving it around faster, and making instinctive passes so that when Buckley get's to his spots the ball is there quicker and before the defenders so he's got more open looks.  To put it bluntly our offense moves faster with Howard in the game. He's hit a wall right now....keep in mind he wasn't quite 100%, he was fine to return but the knee isn't 100% from a capability standpoint, and he's still working through conditioning.  Howard will return much better next year, remember he is a true freshman for all intent and purpose.  The speed of the BE is difficult for any true freshman to master, and yet Chris Howard if he played in enough games would be one of the leaders in the BE for assists and the assist to turnover ratio....pretty **** impressive. His numbers will improve too with more options next year on the perimeter. Bozeman, has a very slow release.  It's nearly a full second slower than the average 1-A guard and the staff is working on condencing his motion, and speeding up his shot.  If they can do that with out eliminating his confidence or touch he can be a much better player because he is a very quick young man that has good hands, unfortunately he's still learning our offense, the timing and often times holds onto the ball to much but Howard's knee injury pressed him into service early on, and Capko's injury absence made it worse. So yes Ari I have been watching a few games, and I've got a pretty keen eye plus some guys sitting next to me with fabulous basketball acumen too.

Curry and Holmes will be a fantastic duo. Holmes has almost unlimited range on the trey, and both can dribble penetrate. Both with long arms and gliding bodies. Also, CRM needs to pull the reigns off of Verdejo. He's shown flashes but the staff seems to have him thinking to much, and he's laying-off way to many opportunities that normally he would attack the basket with....he needs to pick his spots better, and they need to get him more involved in the offense. That will happen next year when Buckley moves on, and with Curry, Holmes, Verdejo, and Nique Jones that will give us a very nice outside guard/forward group.

On the plus with UL, UNC, and UCF games also at home, providing no more are moved, USF will at least have other very well attended and very interesting match-ups to host recruits at.  Whereas last year, our only real big home game, Rutgers, was moved to Friday.

It's always different, I remember I heard when we agreed to move our Cinci game in 2004 to Halloween Night the conference offered to throw in an additional kicker as an incentive. So, yes I would say probably friday, weds, and holiday games the conference would give you special consideration.

Oh and for those of you that want examples about how obsessive Knight Light truly is, and how he actually takes his embellishments about USF on the road, check out the link below. It's amazing this joker is allowed on any USF sites. Let's count the lies in Knight Lie's post on FSU's Warchant. 1. Josh Julmiste was arrested and USF signed him anyway. Actually, Josh was already signed when he was charged with a misdemeanor. 2. He was arrested, but never charged for the stealing of a former teammates goods, it was with three other players, two of which were arrested as well CJ Hunnicutt, and Brouce Mompremier. No formal charges were ever filed when A. Randy Jackson could never be found for a follow-up statement, B. it was found out that witness stated he borrowed much of the stuff to the guys, and C. All of it was returned. 3. He was not dismissed from the team for a year. All three were suspended indefinitely until something was decided and then further discipline, if any, would be levied. Charges were dropped, and all three were reinstated for the spring- which was only a semester...SO the lies here are he was not kicked out for a year, and no formal charges were filed, the district attorney declined to pursue. 4. This event occurred in the fall of 2004, and he was allowed back on the team in December of 2004...I have no earthly idea how Knight Lie, who is not privy to even a sliver of this information, could surmise that shortly after his return he failed his first drug test. The second negative test, the one that got his suspended, didn't happen until June 2006, so 19 months later. I'd consider this a lie since you can't even get this data from the freedom of information act since it violates privacy laws so, Knight Lie is purely speculating here. 5. Knight Lie states Leavitt tries to get the penalty lowered to two games for his players. It was actually three, (the new rule is one quarter of the season), and he's completely wrong because Leavitt had absolutely no say in the matter. In fact, when the rules were changed, it was in the spring of 2006, to be inacted in the fall semester of 2006. The rules were changed by Woolard after careful consideration and consultation with a national drug counseling group, and consultation with Big East schools on their policies. This was done before the kids tested positive. The ONLY reason those kids petitioned to have their suspensions reduced is because their positive tests occurred during the summer, and it was considered a gray period between the spring semester when the old policy was intact, and after the new one was enforced. 6. Knight Light, again embellishing and speculating, states that Josh Julmiste was kicked out by Athletic Department officials, NOT LEAVITT...complete speculation...first because no one knows the cause of the expulsion, furthermore who initiated the expulsion, and third that Leavitt had any say in the matter. Maybe Josh was kicked out for being late to workouts- it's happened before. A lie, because no media outlets have determined the cause of his expulsion, and it isn't public information because of privacy laws and there was no arrest. SO, in one post on Warchant, Knight Lie managed to fabricate, embellish, and speculate on 7-8 different points about USF. If you want to know the guy that is the most obsessive then you've got your man hands down! Triple it works a lil'differently from what I understand. The Conference signs an overall dollar contract which is distributed by the conference to members each yaer. Each year when games are selected, each team playing in a televised game gets a bonus, or more money for that year (remember the tv contract isn't a lump sum it's paid annually), and the home team gets an extra bonus. USF hosting an ESPN televised game can be very lucrative to the tune of a couple hundred thousand to the U.

No it has nothing to do with Syracuse skill...they had the skill for 30 minutes before that stretch when we played them to a draw. During the stretch run the refs put their whistles away and blew some blatant calls. Syracuse had no answer for Gransberry inside but he had two times where he was badly fouled and they were no calls. We couldn't afford to go multiple times down the court without a basket. Cuse capitalized on the opportunity but had the refs called it accurately there would have been no opportunity to capitalize on.

At least professabull is already seeing the light, smazza is a lost cause. Anyone that thinks Leavitt isn't good, or great for this program is sorely, sorely lacking a reality check. No fallacy there that's a fact jack and most HS coaches in the state will tell you that the only reason much of USF's good talent is going there because of Jim Leavitt.

2nd chance? Josh Julmiste had 5 lives! 1) Arrested in HS...then signed with USF. (Hint 1...Most kids are not ARRESTED in HS.) 2) Arrested at USF...and kicked out of the program. (Hint 3) 4) Initiate drug test...Josh failed it (Hint 4). 5) Tell player not to do it again. 6) Player fails a 2nd drug test (Hint 5). 7) Suspend player for 50% of the season..tell player not to do drugs again. 8) Player fails 3rd drug test. Per University Athletic Rules...player must be kicked out of the program (again in this case). (Hint 6...he is a waste). 2nd chance? Dude had a TON of chances...and wasted every one. Second time was taking of an ex-teammates stuff, Randy Jackson (not the American Idol dude) came to USF, and was actually asked to leave, left his stuff in the dorm when he returned home.  He came back to get his stuff a few weeks later and some things were missing- coincidentally stuff that he loaned to other players to use.  He couldn't find the other players, and was with his brother and a homie so he called the cops to press charges.  Things got out of hand, words were said, in any event everything was returned, the story explained, and the charges dropped..... SO, are you now saying that an enormous missunderstanding in which no formal charges were filed now means a kid must be removed?  The Code of Conduct doesn't say anything about kicking kids off for the potential to commit crimes. What's KL #3, probably concern for drug use?  What is that. The kid blows hot on one test, and then a second...he gets suspended based on the rules....What more should happen?  He violates team rules again and is summarily dismissed. At what point do you throw out a person's right to due process?  That is why rules are in-place so high and mighty, or selfishly motivated people like yourself KL, that only care to slander and get excited about negative things at USF, can't destroy a person's reputation anymore. Knight Light, how about fair representation of the facts and not the world according to you...Josh's issues are bad enough without you exaggerating and making insinuations up.

No when Syracuse pulled ahead was when the fouls were bad, really bad. I would say there was 2-3 no calls when Cuse stretched their lead that had they been called might have kept things tight. Gransberry got mugged on one turn, Verdejo on a dribble penetrate, and Howard. That's the game, but during that stretch run the calls ceased to go both ways and suddenly the refs stopped calling a close game and Da Cuse pulled away. Not coincidence, but hey we're going to have to earn our victories.

I see where you are going I will say again the star system is over rated. Now in saying that FL don’t knock a 3 star basketball commit and then be happy with all the three star football commits. It is always relative, and sometimes hardly overrated. Also, consider the fact Kentrell Gransberry, and Jesus Verdejo were both four star recruits when signing with their original schools. Dante Curry was also a three star kid, and Aaron Holmes was a four star. Take this into account. Jesus Verdejo- four star on rivals and scout when signing with Zona. Gransberry- four star JC transfer on scout, and three on rivals- seem scout was spot on. Dante Curry- three star with both scout and rivals- was voted the #3 guard in FL coming out last year. Aaron Holmes- four star recruit on scout and rivals, voted the #1 player out of FL, and guard coming out last year, ahead of Derwin Kitchen who signed with St. Johns, and #3 Curry. Bozeman- a two star with scout, three star with rivals Nique Jones- three star in scout and rivals and voted hte 9th best player in FL coming out overall, and 2nd best guard. SO, in the past two years USF has brought in or signed three four star recruits, and three legit three star recruits. That's not a bad core to pick-up. You can question how they all came to become Bulls but the fact is they're all Bulls which bodes well for the future.

I was going to say, sorry for confusing. The thing about Josh is like many coaches say, 'he may have good talent but it's hard for me to covet what I cannot have...' Josh was talented but he saw the field so little because of so many issues that it will be hard to miss him.

What a chuckle, your lunch hour at da wood now extends from 11AM until 2PM? Long time. No one attacked your character just questioned your motivation and now that you've made your position quite clear on Ponton, and a few previous threads on other players, and even being very critical on CJL saying some harsh words on him and his recruiting tact...well it isn't hard for Leavitt and staff to read that and now know directly the source. Maybe it motivates them, or maybe it makes them wonder. You agreed they do a lot for kids. If you are truly a man from Da Wood, and know who I am talking about when I reference the Dump Truck...then you would have tons of respect for Jim Leavitt. You would know what he did for Buie, you would know that he gave a schollie offer to RJ Anderson when nearly everyone backed off because of baseball, was very classy and respectable recruiting McCray and crew, and even willing to offer a former Armwood player a spot when he was deciding to transfer and had some problems at his previous stop. He's got good street cred, and any coach knows that schools go through Julmiste's of the world but it's the staffs that deal with it swiftly that get the most respect. I am just taking you on your word of who you are, but if you are who you say you are then i am shocked by your positions and tact.

Waaaa?  Simeon Rice?  And Joe you agree?  Guys don't go off the deep end here, Simeon Rice had something like 48 sacks and 79 Tackles for loss in his YEAR COLLEGE CAREER!!! Do the math!  I'd love to compare Josh Julmiste to Simeon but he couldn't carry Simeon's jock strap.  Simeon Rice was possibly one of the best college rush ends I've ever seen in college. When Josh returned from his suspension he had ballooned to 280lbs, and the staff played him almost more inside then they did at end.  Josh had loads of potential and his return did help us for more reasons then just his production but he was a good athlete and made some plays.  Unfortunately he was never able to give us everything and he was entering his fourth year at USF. Now Selvie's stats are impressive and is more of a Rice type. His loss will be felt in the early going this spring but others will need to step up.  It's better Josh let's us down now, so we can have all spring to replace, then waiting for another eventful summer from him.
