  1. Oct 31, 2003 USF 24 vs Cincinnati 17 (2 OT, C-USA) It was Homecoming on Friday night on Halloween. The game was moved for ESPN and people here were PO'd. Jacob thought his dinosaur customer was too hot. (He was 8.) It was also USF's 5th win and 4th for bowl eligibility as I-AA Nichols St did not meet the scholarship requirements. USF went 7-5 and IIRC Cincinnati only had to win its last game and USF would go to a bowl. They lost. Nov 20, 2004 USF 23 at Cincinnati 45 (C-USA) It was the first of three losses to end the year. Nov 19, 2005 #39(ap) USF 31 vs Cincinnati 16 (BE) It was the last win of the year. It made USF bowl eligible. Three losses followed. Kizarvexis
  2. USF has given up 15 turnovers (11 fumbles with 7 lost and 8 interceptions) Our opponents have given up 13 turnovers (10 fumbles with 4 lost and 9 interceptions) So USF is -2 in the turnover department, but is +1 in the last two games, so things are looking up. Kizarvexis
  3. The official USF gamebook says that USF had 4 penalties for 36 yards and UNC had 10 for 87 yards. The fewest penalties for USF was at ECU on Nov 8th, 2003. USF had 2 penalties for 15 yards in a 38-37 two overtime win. Kizarvexis
  4. Why did you wait almost three years to ask? Kizarvexis
  5. I have an excel file where I keep all kinds of USF stats. It all started with arguements on this board and certain posters that would pull facts out of thin air. So I starting putting together the facts to get the truth into the arguements. A poster recently asked for attendance info from before 2000, so I made a list of all the games in one column to cut and paste. Then I sorted it a couple of times and decided to put together everything above. Kizarvexis P.S. Still looking for anyone who has the official USF penalties stats for all the games before 2001. My media guides don't go back that far.
  6. Why only from 2004? That is USF's last season in C-USA and everything in the BE? Why not all of the C-USA and BE seasons? Because then USF would be 21-19, right? Or just the BE seasons? Because then USF would be 10-8 right? Or everything since USF went I-A? Then USF is 38-24. Basically, USF without Grothe is a bad I-A team. With Grothe, they are an average I-A team. With more experience for the young players and Grothe, who knows what they could do. Maybe more than 10 wins? Maybe more than 7 losses? Who knows, but the ride should be fun! Kizarvexis
  7. USF is 1-2 vs Pitt, 0-1 in conference play. USF lost last year 31-17 at Pitt. In USF's last C-USA season (2004), USF lost 43-14 to #21/19 Pitt at home. In USF's first season of I-A play (as indepedent), USF beat Pitt 35-26 at Pitt. Blackwell was great in that game.  USF has averaged 35,193 for homecoming games. The last two seasons, USF increased attendance at Homecoming, with last year's WVU game at 45,274. I hope so, but I think the Bulls will be 5-6 going into that game.  Kizarvexis
  8. I haven't been able to watch USF this year, so I can't give an indepth analysis like above. Radio isn't as good as TV, which isn't as good as being there live. But, based on past history, things don't look good for the Bulls. The Bulls win about 75% of the time at home vs I-A competition. With two home games left, that leaves one win at home, probably vs Syracuse. The Bulls win about 40% of the time on the road vs I-A competition. With four road games left, that leaves one win on the road, probably vs UNC or Cincinnati. So I think USF will go 2-4 for the rest of the year and have a 6-6 record. That will mean USF will have to hope for there to be more bowl slots than 7-5 teams. If all the stars line up, I could see the Bulls going 4-2 for an 8-4 record, or worse, 0-6 for a 4-8 record. Kizarvexis
  9. USF is doing about the same as the last three years, but better than the first two years in I-A. (I don't have penalty stats for the I-AA years. Anyone have the penalties for each USF game from '97-'00?) As of the UConn game; USF has committed an average of 8.83 penalties per game for 78.83 yards. The opponents have committed 8.17 penalties for 65.17 yards per game. 2005 USF 9.27 for 73.73 yards avg per game and opponents 7.09 for 57.82 2004 USF 9.64 for 82.55 yards avg per game and opponents 6.55 for 51.73 2003 USF 9.36 for 83.00 yards avg per game and opponents 6.27 for 47.91 2002 USF 11.64 for 98.73 yards (USF record) avg per game and opponents 7.27 for 60.36 2001 USF 10.00 for 88.00 yards avg per game and opponents 9.82 for 82.09 Kizarvexis P.S. The 2005 season average does not include the bowl game. With the bowl game included the Bulls committed 8.83 penalties for 69.25 yards per and the opponents committed 6.50 penalties for 55.92 yards per game.
  10. RJS holds 41,441 in the lower bowl for USF games and holds 66,321 total in standard configuration. It will hold over 72k for a Super Bowl with additional temporary seating. Kizarvexis

  12. 28,992 for this season USF's best season avg was 38,865 for last season. USF's worst season avg was 25,053 in USF's 3rd season (I-AA) Kizarvexis P.S. USF needs to avg 39,179 in the last two games to beat last season's avg
  13. USF has had 9 Homecoming games with a high of 45,274 for #12W. Virginia to a low of 27,307 for D-II New Haven in USF's second year. I'll go with 33,337.2 for the average of all 9 games. 14. The radio said that it was a hip injury. Nothing in the post-game show. Kizarvexis
  15. Grothe hurt his ankle on a running play. He's hobbling around, but no update on the radio yet. Kizarvexis
  16. No calls for an investigation into the conspiracy of the plus two min overage in game time? Kizarvexis
  17. I agree. Perfect games are hard to come by. But the Bulls can and need to be better in the stupid penalty department. Just ask Randolph. In any case, the current average for the Bulls is the best since I started keeping stats in 2001. The Bulls need to keep that up, because the running game isn't going all that good yet. The Bulls need all the help that they can get. Kizarvexis
  18. Well, yesterday's season low of 5 penalties for 48 yards helped bring down the average. Only 3 games last year had lower penalty yardage, UCF (5-40), WVU (5-35) and NC St (4-20). Here are the stats for this year. 10-82 vs McNeese St 8-92 vs FIU 5-48 vs UCF 7.67 for 74 yards per game average. 2005 average per game 9.27 for 73.73 yards. (regular season) 2004 average per game 9.64 for 82.55 yards. 2003 average per game 9.36 for 83.00 yards. 2002 average per game 11.64 for 98.73 yards. (record season) 2001 average per game 10.00 for 88.00 yards. As you can see, penalties have trended down, but slightly. The Bulls are looking ok so far, but recent history shows that low penalty games for the Bulls are few and far between. 2003 and 2004 each had one game less than the UCF game and neither 2001 nor 2002 had a game with less penalties than yesterday. Kizarvexis
  19. Ok, I heard all about the new rules for college football this year where the clock will run, shortening the game by 10-20 plays. But who knew that they would let it run over. From GoUSFBulls official box score for the USF at UCF game USF possession time 32:02 UCF possession time 30:38 So when did college football extend the games to 62 minutes and 40 seconds?  Kizarvexis 8-)
  20. The NCAA changed the rule to 1 I-AA team every year. And I believe they also dropped the scholarship requirement as well. The I-AA teams like the paydays for balancing the books. Kizarvexis
  21. I can agree with that. My fondest wish, would be to see Andre run back a kick off for a TD for the Bucs in the regular season. Can you imagine the attention that would bring to Andre and USF? Something like that might even get you a display in the Hall of Fame. Here's to hoping. Kizarvexis
