Was in the bookstore this weekend, and looked like they had brand new men's replica jerseys in stock.  They were white jerseys with Julmiste's #3 embroidered front and back with a USF BULLS in place of the last name on the back.  For women, they had a green jersey with Hall's #2 embroidered front and back with the sam USF BULLS in place of the last name.  If I remember right they ran about $60.  They looked sweet.  I wish they would have had the green #2 in men's sizes.  I would have bought one on the spot.

http://bulls.tbo.com/bulls/MGBIX8LHVBE.html TAMPA - Former Tennessee quarterback Brent Schaeffer will play at a California junior college this fall in hopes of returning to the Southeastern Conference next season at either Florida, Auburn or Georgia, Schaeffer told The Tampa Tribune. Schaeffer said he will leave for College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., today. By playing at a junior college, Schaeffer will only have two years eligibility remaining in Division I- A. If Schaeffer, who started three games as a freshman at Tennessee last year, transferred to a I-A school he would have had to sit out the 2005 season, but would have three years eligibility remaining. ``I'm excited to play right away,'' Schaeffer said. ``I want to go back to the SEC. I like the level of play, the talent, the players. I think it's the best conference and I like playing with the best. ``This wasn't a tough decision. I knew what my goals are - going down [to junior college] real quick and coming back up [to I-A]. I didn't want to pick any school just to go to another school.'' When Schaeffer left Tennessee, he said he made an agreement with Coach Phil Fulmer that he could not transfer to another SEC school or a school the Vols play during his remaining eligibility. However, Schaeffer said by attending a junior college for a year he can attend any school he wants in 2006. Schaeffer said he hasn't spoken yet to the coaches at Florida, Auburn or Georgia to see if they are interested. ``I can't talk to them right now,'' he said. When he left Tennessee, Schaeffer said he spoke with University of South Florida coach Jim Leavitt. He said the Bulls were ``in the picture'' until learning USF had an incoming transfer quarterback, who was the son of an assistant coach. Greg Gregory was hired as tight ends coach in May and his son Grant transferred from Indiana five weeks later. ``I competed before, but with his dad as coach, I wasn't trying to get into all that,'' Schaeffer said. With USF eliminated, Schaeffer said his final two Division I-A choices were Clemson and Texas A&M. He wouldn't commit to Clemson by the school's deadline, so the Tigers withdrew their offer. Schaeffer said he liked the players at Texas A&M, ``but I didn't have a good vibe with coach [Dennis Franchione].'' At College of the Sequoias, Schaeffer will play between 10 and 12 games, depending if the Giants make the playoffs, athletic director Brent Calvin said. ``We're thrilled to have him,'' Calvin said. ``He's looking for one big year and then getting back [to I-A]. It worked out great for us. He can have an impact immediately.'' Last season at Tennessee, Schaeffer became the first true freshman to start a SEC opener in 59 years. He threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns in eight games and rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown, but missed four games after injuring his collarbone. ``I'm just glad this is all over,'' Schaeffer said.

So, I'm in Chicago this past weekend (I scored tickets to the Cubs/BoSox game on Friday), and on Sunday the group I'm up there with wants to go downtown. We eventually end up at the bar at the Signature Room Grill on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building. My shirt of choice that day is a simple grey USF football shirt with the "U-Bull". All of a sudden from across the bar I hear, "Hey, did you graduate from USF?" Sure enough, he's an alum from the mid 70's, up for the weekend from Ft. Lauderdale. Of all the places....up on the 96th floor of a building in Chicago.

Give a man enough rope to hang himself..... Have to say that this is the first move that CJL has made that I completely disagree with.  I'd like to hear some of his reasoning for this hire.  Is Smith really that quailified?  Was it a matter of $$$?  What is the thought process behind this?  Leavitt truly has put his job security in Smith's hands. I hope for all of us that this works out, but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't skeptical.

Out of conference schedule
BullGrad95 replied to Cubanbull's topic in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
Let me throw a monkey wrench into this whole thing... I think one thing that some of you are forgetting is that Army will not rejoin a conference.  They just left C-USA to become an independent and negotiated a TV deal with the ESPN networks.  Why would they give that up to go back into a conference or be a partial member?  Ain't gonna happen.  Forget about Army and the Big East. -

Anyone catch this from the link HowieP had to the SP Times? NICKNAME: Marquette will not return to its former Warriors nickname but instead will change to the Gold, instead of Golden Eagles. How stupid is this?  Why in the world would you change again? People confusing them with S. Miss? -
You've really got to be kidding me!  I've listened to sports radio for 10+ years, and Dan Sileo is, by far, one of the absolutely worst commentators I've ever heard!  This guy is just a mouthpiece for the Hurricanes.  His opinions are absolutely ridiculous.  (Did you hear him mention a few weeks ago that the Bucs should cut Derrick Brooks?)  He thinks he knows everything about all of the "big 4" sports, but he barely knows anything about football.  Plain and simple, this guy is an A$$ clown!  The only sport that Duemig doesn't know too much about is basketball.  The other 3 sports he can speak on without issue.  He will talk college football plenty, and not necessarily related to gambling (which, I will agree with you, I can't stand to hear.  the Vegas insider crap should go.)  If you've listened to him for any length of time, you know that his format is "bring to the table what you'd like to talk about".  He doesn't have topic specific days.  While he can be abrasive at times, he is one of the most knowledgable broadcasters in the area.  If he sucked, he wouldn't be here.  His ratings in the evening drive time slot are always near the top. Bottom line is that if we want to hear more about USF, we need to be calling in to that show.

I would guess that he's got to be officially released from his scholarship before anyone can speak with him about a transfer. -

What was USF like when you attended?
BullGrad95 replied to a topic in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
Fall 90 - Spring 95 (includes a GTEDS internship - in accounting, not MIS by the way) Moved into Beta 2 West with a guy I knew from high school. Had a few other friends from high school that lived in the dorms also. My roomie never stayed the weekends, so I was solo. After fall semester I got into a fraternity, but also made a bunch of friends in the Beta dungeon. Like many others, I remember that B-Ball was in full stride back then. The dome did rock. We would love to go to the games and sit right under the baskets. Watching Ro fire up the 3's all day long. My funny story is that I Gary Alexander and I end up standing in front of a stamp vending machine. I ended up getting the last book of stamps and he's looking pissed. I offer him whatever he needs, and I end up chatting with him for a few minutes, talking about the game where he slamed one home in the closing seconds to beat UF somewhere around Thanksgiving weekend of 1990. He's a real nice guy. After two years of dorm living moved into many different apartments up and down 42nd and 46th streets. Too many parties, too many intramural games, too many adventures to recall. Although I did love the 1/2 sandwich and bowl of chili combo at the Greenery on Sunday nights after the fraternity meetings. I wouldn't trade my USF experience for anything. PS - I also met Mrs. BullGrad while at school. We never dated while in school, but reconnected a few years later, and the rest is history. -
That's exactly what I thought when I first read that this morning. No way you walk away from a 107 temp.

New USF Verbal: Shane McElwain

Apparently he did play in high school. -
1.  Why did you pick USF, if not for school, as a fan? Picked it because of its location and accounting program. 2.  What was your first choice of college major and what degree did you end up with? First choice -  Accounting, Graduated - Accounting 3.  How long to get your first degree?  Going part-time or fulltime? Fulltime - 5 years including 2 semesters of internships 4.  Where did you live the majority of time while at USF? Lived in Beta Hall for 2 years, then in the a variey of apartments up and down 42nd Street. 5.  What was the dumbest thing you ever did at a party while attending USF (as in something that could of put u in jail or mega-embarrassing)? Not at a party, but went out one night with some of the guys and stole a 5 foot tall statue from a statue/fountain business, among other things that night. BONUS FOR THE FOOGIES:  Did you meet you significant other while attending the ole higher education alma mater?  Yes, my wife and I were aquaintances in college. We reconnected several years later, have been married 5 1/2 years, and have a little future lady bull that is almost a year old.
