  2. Looks like Dawsey loves it here.  Read on.... The Florida State alum has heard his name as a popular choice to join Bobby Bowden's staff in Tallahassee, but he wants to put that rumor to rest. "There's nothing to that," he said. "Fans are disappointed in how things are going on the offense up there. I've been here in Tampa ever since I got drafted by the Bucs. This is home." http://www.sptimes.com/2004/12/01/Sports/Dawsey_more_excited_w.shtml
  3. Another coach on the scrap heap. Some of these guys have got to make good coordinators. See below... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1935138
  4. I've got to agree with you on the Radio part. I've mentioned several times over the years that I'm not a fan of Louk. He's knowledgable and obviously knows USF's football history, but his monotone delivery leaves a lot to be desired. He sparks no passion in the fan. Some people may not like him, but Dave Mishkin of the Lightning is the type of announcer we need to have. His passion for the game and the team, and his knowledge of the game bring excitement to the broadcast. I just can't get into listening to Louk, his voice and enthusiasm level is not there.
  5. 1) The winner - USF 2) The final score - 41-27 3) Bulls total offensive yards - 496 4) Bulls leading receiver - Peyton
  6. No, it didn't seem like they really did more than 7 - 8 in the box. Which, then it would have seemed logical to put the ball in the air. With that many up front, some slants or post patterns would have worked. For some reason Hobbie decided we needed every pass to be 30+ yards.
  7. Which was worse.... Was it the decision to go away from our running game and throw every pass 30+ yards downfield? or Was it our defensive coaches inability to make any changes to put pressure on their QB? The issues with the offensive staff have been well documented here, so I won't go on any further about that. I know that our defense is young, but our coaching staff did not seem to make any adjustments to slow down their passing game. We had no pressure on the QB, and I don't know if that was supposed to be a "prevent" type of defense at the end of the first half, but whatever it was it sucked. I've been probably more disappointed with this year's defense more than any other aspect of the team.
  8. Just wanted to weigh in on the game.  I was lucky (???) enough to sit through the monsoon last night at Legion Field. -This was my first USF roadie, so I was stoked no matter who the opponent would have been. -Legion Field is an absolute dump.  It is a shame considering all of the memorable football that has been played there.  That is probably the most antiquated facility I have ever stepped foot in.  Luckily, the upper deck hasn't collapsed yet, because is saved me and my dad from floating away.  That rain was of biblical proportion! -Props to the gang of USF students that stood behind our bench for the entirety of the game.  It'll be days before they are completely dried out. -The best part of the game being on a rainy Wednseday night --- nobody was there.  The 9,000 attendance figure was generous.  The game had a high school feeling to it.  Lack of fans meant we sat about 10 rows up at the 50 yd line right behind our bench when we weren't under the sieve-like upper deck taking shelter from Noah and the Ark part II. -Our defense really stepped it up in the second half.  Leavitt was all over Coach Kravitz in the first half, and I guess he made the right adjustments.  Second half the defense was flying. -Leavitt/Royal - - I was happy to see that Leavitt actually pulled a kid for a stupid penalty.  I didn't quite care for Royal's reaction.  I'm not all for watching players yelling at coaches.  However, getting yanked made this kid a beast.  He was drilling people after that.  -The B'ham paper was all over UAB this morning.  They have basically turned on the team.  Given the loss to Tulane last week, coupled with last night's game, the media and fans have basically called the team a fraud.  The recap of the game an accompanying articles ripped the team a new one, and continually called them overrated. -Andre Hall -- The more I see of this kid, the more I love him.  His attitude is far superior to anyone on this team.  He was all over the sidelines last night pumping everyone up.  His abilities on the field speak for themselves.  His low running style and willingness to give the hit rather than receive it are what makes this kid go.  He is a special player, and I was glad that his breakout game came on national TV. -Rain aside, it was a fantastic game for my first roadie._
  9. I'll be one of the few that's there. I'm staying somewhere near the airport.
  10. Let's not forget one important thing.... UF also has the deep pockets to pay off Zook's $1.8M in remaining salary.
  11. My .02: 1. Just have to get this off of my chest. Why does UL blow the horn when they score? This isn't a hockey game!!!! 2. What has happened to our linebacker play. I think this is the most unnerving part of our defense. Somebody needs to teach these guys how to shed a block. Absolutely no run support, and they have no idea how to cover a back out of the backfield. Coach Burnham better step it up and teach these kids something! 3. Coach Dawsey, please, please, please put your guys in front of one of those pitching machine like devices and work them out until their hands bleed. We will not be successful with that many dropped passes, period. These guys all seem to want to run with the ball before they've even caught it. 3. Maturity. I know we are a young team. One thing that gets me really pi$$ed off is our attitude. If you notice, we're down 30+ points, and our guys are getting in UL's faces, talking smack because they actually tackled someone before they gained 10 yards. I'm all for firing yourself up, and trash talk, but on every single play? C'mon guys, knock em on their a$$ and get back to the huddle. Sometimes I look at this team and it reminds me of Seth's program. Great athletes, not diciplined, don't have quite the work ethic to get to the next level. One other quick thought. CJL needs to fire himself as special teams coach. Week after week, we see so many problems. More penalties on returns, kickoffs being returned from 5 yards deep in the endzone. CJL, give up the duties to someone else. Last night was tough to watch. UAB may be even tougher, if this team has totally collapsed. One bright spot. In today's Trib, CJL mentioned that he would start playing more freshman. Good move, let's get these kids the experience they need now.
  12. Agreed.  It is not a curse in the true sense of the word.  You are right.  We are getting into the BE because of those wins.  I just meant that it has caused us, let's just call it "scheduling issues".  I, for one, have been pretty happy with what we've gotten schedule wise.  I can only imagine the difficulties that LRS had and Wollard has getting people to come here. Wollard:  Hello?  (Place School AD here), This is Doug Wollard, AD at the University of South Florida.  I'm calling to see if we could possible set up some kind of home and home or 2 for 1 scheduling arrangement. Other AD:  USF?  You guys in Tampa?  No thanks. Risk being embarassed by a team that's less than 10 years old?  Not after what you did to Pitt and Louisville!  Wollard: But, but wait. We'll easily pull in 50K people for this game. You've got a huge alumni base in the area. Other AD: CLICK!!!
  13. Thanks for posting this. I read it in the paper this morning and almost choked on my cheerios. I still find it hard to believe that these guys can get OSU to go down there with their 5,000 fans, and we can't get anyone to come near here while we average 30K. Unfortunately for us, I think the answer is obvious. People are leary of playing the Bulls. The Pitt game in 2001 was a blessing and a curse. Blessing obviously because we won. Curse, because it showed the country that we can hang with the big boys, and potentially could put a good scare into anyone. Follow that up with the win agains Louisville last year and, OOC opponents will stay away from RJS.
  14. Sorry. I'm not a big drinker, and don't get sloshed at the games, but I will absolutely admit that I love to have beer at the games. I know that USF is not a dry campus. You are still allowed to possess alcohol on campus if you are of age. I know a lot of schools don't sell alcohol as part of a conference agreement. I just personally hope that beer would come along with a new stadium. For me an on campus stadium would be much closer to my house, so if it's feasable (with beer ) I'm all for it.
  15. Part of reason #3 is enough for me to say leave it at RJS. I love my beer at the games.
  16. Bleeding Green and Gold here.... Myself - Alum Class of 1995 COBA - BS Accounting + Grad classes Bulls Club Volunteer Mrs. BullGrad - Alum Class of 1997 College of Education Lil' BullGrad Class of 2026
  17. If I'm not mistaken, UConn constructed their stadium this way. I was watching one of their games earlier in the season, and they had mentioned that when the stadium was built, there were extra pillars put in place for future expansion.
  18. If my memory serves correctly, we also have 3 Frosh, 3 Sophs between our LBs and DBs, not to mention that our receiving corp is full of Frosh and Sophs. Our lines are where our upperclassmen are, but otherwise we're very young. Several true Frosh at the WR and DB positions.
  19. Didn't mean to harp on the point. I just thought it was comical that someone already owns the domain name. I'm behind CJL 100%. He'll right the ship soon enough. We're so young this year. It'll straighten itself out.
  20. This is pretty funny.  Someone actually owns the domain rights to this and is actually selling it.  Scroll down to the bottom.  Conspicuously missing is FireGeorgeOLeary.com http://www.redshirted.com/redshirtInventory.html
  21. Well, on the flip side, we are probably a few missed tackles from being 4-1.
  22. I'm disappointed because I stayed up until 12:30, only to see Rome is Burning coming on. I gave up and hit the rack. Hopefully it'll be shown somewhere again soon.
  23. Clueless.  I've been out of school for almost 10 years now, and my fraternity brothers are some of my closest friends.  I also have plenty of friends from USF that were not greeks.  Absolutely stupid remark, calling fraternities gangs.  Greeks participate in more philanthropic activities than any other organization at USF. Greek and proud of it.
  24. Hopefully we can secure a big enough lead against Army that he could see some time in the 4th quarter. At least let him get his uni a little bit dirty.
  25. USF-Pittsburgh Game Re-Scheduled for Saturday, December 4 (October 6, 2004) The University of South Florida and the University of Pittsburgh have agreed to re-schedule their postponed football game to Saturday, December 4 in Raymond James Stadium. The game is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. Presently, there is not a commitment for television, but the two schools and ESPN continue to discuss live coverage opportunities for that date. Saturday presents the best possible options for television opportunities. The game had originally been scheduled for Monday, September 6 on ESPN, but Hurricane Frances forced a postponement. “Pittsburgh has proven to be an outstanding partner throughout the discussions regarding a re-scheduled date for our game,†says USF Director of Athletics Doug Woolard. “We certainly appreciate their cooperation and patience in seeing this process to completion. We realize it’s important for fans of both programs to be able to plan their December 4 weekend and we’re happy to finalize the date. We join Pittsburgh in continued discussions with ESPN to keep the game televised as originally planned.â€Â
