  1. I have not seen the written story. I liked the quote from Coach and Richard Sobieray. In response to the USF graduate in the middle of the video, then go become a professor and be the best professor that you can be. Great educators do not grow on trees. They come from people who are dedicated to their disciplines and their students.
  2. I rarely go on X/Twitter, but I saw similar whining and complaining on Facebook. This is why I hate social media, and I have dramatically curtailed my usage of those platforms. "Why don't they use the $25 million to lower tuition, feed the hungry, house the homeless, etc.". The same BS you hear when private companies like SpaceX, etc. launch rockets into space. How about you clowns put your phone down, get off social media and make some money and do that yourself? It is easy to complain from the peanut gallery.
  3. Some people in the community are saying "academics are being left behind". Huh? USF just joined the prestigious AAU. They built a brand new medical school building downtown. Most of the focus has been on academics for the past decade or longer. Athletics has taken a back seat, hence the sorry state of the two major sports programs. What are these people smoking? There are complaints about USF almost shutting down the College of Education. No disrespect to Education majors and graduates, but sometimes money talks and BS walks. Does the College of Education have any wealthy benefactors? Are there any famous graduates with deep pockets? Education is an honorable profession, but it does not always lead to wealth. They need more vocal support, and I do not mean people complaining on social media and protesting. They need to get people in positions of power like on the board of regents or in the state congress. That is how the College of Education will protect itself from further attempts to shutter that college.
  4. @E.T. Finish Strong fellow Bull brother.
  5. SMU got out because of donors with really deep pockets, the same deep pockets that got them in trouble before. A certain former US President lobbying for SMU kinda helped too
  6. Your use of punctuation is incorrect so you must be a UCF troll
  7. If USF did not fire him that year, then at some point he would have left USF for more money, or his record would not have improved, and USF would have fired him. That is the overall trend in NCAA football. Even the legendary football greats were shoved out of their long-term coaching jobs because of the never-ending desire for wins and championships.
  8. Exactly. People want to come to the games and watch the Bulls steamroll over other teams. They do not want to watch an endless game of 3 and outs. Some other bigger schools in Florida sell out even when they play scrubs. The fans know they are there to witness a beat down. USF needs to learn how to beat down opponents again, especially lower level scrubs.
  9. One of the many reasons I am looking forward to an OCS. That would give me a reason to go on campus outside of the annual visit to the bookstore. Actually, I have not done that since the start of COVID, so it has been years. I would make a day out of a visit to campus once the OCS opens.
  10. I really doubt they will ask about my educational background. No one has asked me about any of that since my first professional job. However, if they ask, I sure will speak very highly of my alma matter. BTW do you know how many people have wormed their way into management and have degrees from one of those for-profit correspondence schools? You know one of those schools where the degree is not worth the paper it is printed on and worth less than a roll of toilet paper? It is painfully obvious that they did not go to a challenging college because those people do not know anything about anything.
  11. I was thinking of the one time it was a Viginia school. UVA or VT; I do not remember. Now that you mention it there was an instance where we got booted for FSU.
  12. Selmon's started to rapidly decline at the end when either management changed or someone else took over the business. It has been a while so I do not remember the details. The food quality started to decline, and the bar area was kind of dirty. There is nothing more annoying than fruit flies buzzing around while you are trying to eat and drink. It is not that hard to prevent them. Keep the place clean and do not let fruit sit out and rot. The service at the bar also declined too where the bartenders would barely acknowledge your existence. I do not mind exercise, but I do not want to do jumping jacks just so the bartender knows I want another beer. You got better service if you could get a table since the waiters and waitresses were always attentive. There were a few times USF got booted out of the main room for other schools; probably because they had larger regular crowds and we only showed up for away games. I hope this new place shows us some respect; however, I am not enthusiastic about paying for parking downtown.
  13. A successful football program is easier to achieve in the modern era. You just need boatloads of cash and the desire to spend to reach your goal. AAU is a lot harder to achieve. It takes decades to get to the point where they invite you to the exclusive club. I am sure going to mention USF status as a premier university in my next interview. It has been decades since I was a student but we were part of the building blocks to get to where we are today.
  14. The Irish 31 in the Westshore Plaza mall closed down and a Mexican restaurant is in its place. There is an Irish 31 in Hyde Park and one in Westchase, plus others in the surrounding area.
  15. I cannot wait to move away from RJS and play in our own OCS.
  16. Does anyone even subscribe to the Tampa Times anymore? If I hit their paywall when I click on a link to one of their articles, I use various ways to get past it, that is if the article is even worth the effort. The incognito browser, clearing cookies, a VPN or some combination of those will defeat their paywall. I refuse to click on any of their ads on their website as well. We do not need a cheerleader, but we need decent coverage. We are the frigging DI school in Tampa. We do not need a Bianchi, who leaves sticky stuff on his keyboard and mouse every time he discusses his precious Gators. The Sun Sentinel, which is the Ft Lauderdale cousin paper of the Orlando Sentinel, has better coverage of UCF than our local paper has for USF and no one in "south Florida" cares about UCF. It is all UM, UF and FSU down there.
  17. This never-ending conference realignment has made the NCAA into a joke. I get the desire for schools in the lower tier to move up and make more money. What about the schools that have been in the top tier like the SEC or BIG-10 and have sucked forever and have no plans to get better? Those conferences should kick them out and let new blood in. Sure, they keep them in to boost the overall GPA of the conference, but if top dogs like Alabama only sign slobbering knuckle draggers who cannot pass basic college classes, then they deserve any and all sanctions that come their way. When Texas and Oklahoma announced that they would bolt the BIG-12, it seemed like that conference was in a death spiral, even after raiding the AAC. Now they went and raided the PAC-12. How does that happen except for incompetent people running the PAC-12 and the PAC-12 schools. If they thought they could muscle more money out of ESPN, they have not been paying attention. ESPN has been laying off people in droves and let go some big names that have been with them forever. The parent company Disney has been losing money left and right because they have forgotten how to make movies and TV shows that the general public wants to watch. Fox is not exactly in a position to outbid ESPN, and NBC is in a never-ending love affair with Notre Dame. These PAC-12 schools were huffing their own farts and saying they smelt like Cinnabons. They deserve to go down the drain from their hubris.
  18. With this horrid heat wave, they might consider putting in a roof like structure. Maybe not a dome, but a partial cover like Hard Rock Stadium, aka Joe Robbie Stadium.
  19. Jeff Scott was an idiot. Just because that fool used the term "culture" doesn't mean that "building a culture" is a bad thing. Building a culture of winning is good. Building a culture of hard work is a good thing. Building a culture of teamwork is a good thing.
  20. Not only is he telling the current players to get lost, but the school does not even have the money to pay him. They said "We don't have the money yet, but I know we'll have it, so I'm not worried about that piece." So are they cashing in their FTX holdings? He thinks his FCS/ HBCU level QB son is going to tear it up in the PAC-12? I think they are talking way too much advantage of the legal recreational Mary Jane in Colorado. Imagine what Prime Ego demanded from USF for input to the OCS? I initially wanted Deion, but I had worries about his ego. This is not the way to build a program. Sure it gets you headlines and social media credits, but try to cash in those chips. I predict troubles ahead for Colorado. I will gladly admit if I am wrong. New Colorado coach Deion Sanders tells current Buffaloes players to enter transfer portal "I'm coming, and when I get here, it's gonna be changed."
  21. Every time I bring it up, I am accused of being a Taggart shill, but he had USF going in the right direction in his last two years. However, money talks, and he jumped ship. Any coach in his right mind would do the same thing since there is no loyalty between employers and employees anymore. USF should have been prepared for that, but they went with Strong who tore down Taggart's Gulf Coast offense. I was very down on Taggart after his first and second season, but his third and fourth seasons were fun to watch. Not saying that USF should have hired him again, since I would not trust him. The Strong hire was a really bad one because of what he did to that offense. He had zero imagination and went with the boring pro set that never worked at USF.
  22. So what you wanted was mediocrity in conference play, and when we went to a bowl game against a BCS/P5 team we got our collective a$$es handed to us. Some of you are sipping way too much memberberry wine.
