  1. This is old news...it's been a 3:30 gig for some time.
  2. That's not a bad line of thinking. USF doesn't have any real 'tradition' to speak of , so the sooner stuff like that gets started, the better off we'll all be. 8)
  3. I think both Pitt & Memphis are playing BETTER than USF. As much fun as last evening was, remember - after all - it was ECU. Fortunately for us it was a conference win, unfortunately Memphis got-it-goin'-on & Pitt ...well... they are Pitt.
  4. 1990's? 1990's?? Where's my calendar? When you're at the game, do you hear 12 people singing? I don't. And maybe 75K people singing is impressive, unfortunately it would take us three home games to get 75K. 26K reading a jumbo-tron is very un-impressive. ;D
  5. Dont f*ck with tradition. Athletes have their "lucky t-shirt" or "lucky socks". Jim Leavitt has his "lucky Subdural Hematoma".
  6. What is this "basketball" thingy you keep talking about?
  7. We're going for that "Arena Ball Empty the Trailer Park" atmosphere. When attendance is what it was last night, you have to rely on the whims of the production staff to get some sort of noise. Oh...and here's another thing...since we've touched on "music": If you want the attendees to stand and sing the alma mater, why not have an actual PERSON (ala national anthem) sing it with the crowd? I've listened to the band play the tune and read the words scrolling on the jumbo-tron, but having never actually heard a human voice sing it...I am just unable to really get behind this idea.
  8. Every college game has a similar thing. He does have to do that, as crowd-prompting is a part of the game. 8)
  9. As much as it pains me to do this, I am very much afraid I have to agree w/Steve on this one. There's certain things you just don't do and (a) getting blistered by L'ville and (b ) losing to Army really yanked the enthusiasm out of this season. You can't just blow off those two losses. It's one thing to take our regular shellacing by an OOC BCS team... : If USF had been "sewing up" the season instead of "hanging on" , I imagine attendance would be different.
  10. Why this start time? Get on the horn to either SJSU or BSU and ask them about their 09:00 start time yesterday in scenic downtown San Jose. E$PN calls the tunes, and we dance to that ... not the other way around. The 3:00 Austin-Peay game was not too bad. I don't really have a feel for how this plays out being T'giving weekend either. My gut reaction is that - not unlike last night - the season ticket holders will be there but the game-day folks will probably not be t'gating, and will result in a reduced gate. Oh well...scheduling happens.!
  11. ...and speaking of the OpBoards...I just got back from a four - count 'em four! - page surf through Banter. Those folks are calling for the head coach's head on a platter. This was not a good night to be coolin' your jets in front of the tube up in G'ville. And I think having all these games on the tube does impact attendance...maybe not (I hope!) the season tix crowd, but certainly the gameday folks.
  12. I noticed how quiet the board was relative to this game. Not a peep. I can see how the boys at BoneyardBanter or CrossBones would be quiet - the only bright spot on thier calendar (check their posts!) is the upcoming NCSU game in Charlotte. I think, now that we're not bulldozing our way through CUSA, that maybe a lot of folks have given up on the Bulls. Another thing I noticed...homecoming really was the big attendance game. I was surprised at how sparse the SoMiss game looked.
  13. I put it on BoneyardBanter. Saw where you'd done the same on Crossbones. Bottom Line: Seems to me that both team's boards are very unenthusiastic about this game. We're "whistlin' past the graveyard" and ECU is really - I mean reeeeeaaallllyyyy - looking forward to the NCSU game.
  14. Doesn't sound too hard. Oh yeah, as an aside, Memphis beat Southern Miss 30 x 26. 8)
  15. Why not just swing by the office and ask for a face-to-face? :
  16. 1. Who gets the nod as the Miami Dolphins new head coach? R: some FNG who hasn't been head coach in NFL or college. 2. What is your preferred form of exercise? R: treadmill/stationary bike 3. What is the best cartoon of all-time? R. The old "Merry Melodies" cartoons from the 30's-50's. 4. Have you missed the NHL? R. What's an NHL? 5. Who has the best pizza in your city/town? R.Windy City up in C'wood.
  17. The boys over at BoneyardBanter are looking way past both USF & Memphis. They have thier collective eye on NCSU (final game of the season for them) ...may be played in Charlotte, I'm not certain. I'm guessing they've alredy stuck a fork in the season and are playing for highlights. Gotta admit...road trip to Charlotte from G'ville ain't bad.
  18. Which again underscores the need for a paper trail when it comes to these voting ballots....
  19. We pretty much have to beat ECU (who beat Army), beat Cincinnati (at Cincy), beat Memphis here....and then we get to chit-chat about beating Pitt. If any of the first three come up "L"....Pitt is our bowl game.
  20. consistency And on the flip side...if we play as poorly as we did against Army, we will end up having to bus the table.
  21. My homies over at ESPN are running a promotion "19 days of football". To accomodate this, there's the Sunday night pro-game, college on Thursday & Saturday. However....they're also putting on games, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday...etc. So....we *****-n-moan about moving games to Fridays, but I wanted to hear what you thought about this moving games to every night of the week. Granted, we're not involved (well...there was that UAB thingy), but if they do it in 2004, I see no reason why they won't do it henceforth. I think last night was Uconn & Norhtern Illinois (or some such MAC event). I don't think you're gonna see the BCS teams playing on this sort of schedule. Whaddya think? Is this sports charity? Face it...the odds of me down in Tampa watching Uconn & Northern Illinois are pretty danged remote unless you DO put it on a weeknight. Is this taking advantage of the have-nots?
  22. 1) The winner...................................USF 2) The final score..............................30 x 24 3) Bulls total offensive yards...............433 4) Bulls leading receiver .....................Sheffield
  23. Well....maybe there is something to this IAA FAMU band thing...if the teams sucks (3-6 thus far), maybe the highly-touted band can suit up:
  24. Yep...the season is FAR from over. As far as I'm concerned, all we did was flip one-for-one (expected loss at UAB, expected win over Army). And ECU beat Army, soooooo..... Again, it depends on what you want to discuss...possibilities or probabilities. I lean more towards probabilities and wouldn't be at all surprised if we lose to Memphis and Pitt. I'm gonna spot us ECU & Cincy, but if we lose either (or both!) of them, it's not like it will be completely unexpected. I enjoy the games one at a time, but honestly - do you think this is a bowl caliber team? A couple of years back, North Texas - with a losing record, but winning record within their conference - got to some bowl game. I really think there's very few bowl games that have merit (and too many bowl games to start with) so I really would not want to see my mediocre alma mater get into a bowl game because they're the best of the worst. :
  25. Obviously, whoever writes this is probably slightly dumber than whoever is supposed to edit this stuff. It does get edited - fact checked - right? Fellas....hey....edited?
