USF BASEBALL SUMMER BALL UPDATE
Rising junior righty Carson Ragsdale (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) faced a pair of batters in the Northwoods League All-Star game on July 24, retiring both. He made two appearances during the week for the Madison Mallards. Ragsdale will be competing in the 2018 Major League Dreams Showcase on August 7. The annual Showcase will consist of a double-header featuring the top players from the Northwoods League who were selected by a panel of Major League Baseball Scouts. The 6-foot-8 reliever has a 2.38 ERA in 15 games this summer with 35 strikeouts. Redshirt freshman Jake Sullivan (Tampa) played in five games last week for the Savannah Bananas of the Coastal Plain League. He tallied three hits and drove in a run. He's fourth on the team with a .353 average, has scored 21 runs and driven in 22 in 34 games. Junior second baseman JD Dutka (Suwanee, Ga.) appeared in four games last week for the Norcross Astros of the Sunbelt League. He had three hits with two runs scored. Dutka is batting .294 with four runs and three RBI in nine games. Redshirt sophomore lefty Connor Eason (Chesapeake, Va.) wrapped up his summer playing for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League. In six appearances, Eason struck out 17 with a 3.48 ERA.
