  1. I like your confidence but you know who else won a state title in high school? Mike White. We all know how that turned out. Yea, but he predicted it and to be honest, he is just waaay better then Mike White. i think mike white has a stronger arm, but not as quick a throw or delivery as Kean. And even though it doesnt guarantee success, winning a state title is still a lot of work and determination, so not sure how you make it seem like it's not an accomplishment lol Kean won one in Ohio Division 1. That's like middle school in Florida. Mike White's was 3A. Watch the video highlights and see for yourself. I remember watching Flowers footage and knew he would suck, Kean has a way quicker release, You could insult his division all you want but just remember this post when he balls during the regular season. If he's so good, why did he make his parents move to Ohio to avoid competition with White? Are you joking or a moron? Kean moved to Ohio AFTER Mike White graduated. So he wouldn't of had to compete with White. Noticed he still committed to the same school as White after? He knew that he could take the job away from Mike White, which is why White left. There is absolutely no reason to think a true freshman QB can win right away at the division 1 level. You can find a few exceptions, but not many at all. We viewed first hand what happens when you are dealing with true freshmen here and at other schools. And if you decide to name some, I'm willing to bet they were all higher ranked recruits than Kean. I watched his tape, he is good but he's not that good. I mean he has potential but I've seen A LOT of room for improvement and as the skill level goes up and the size of those windows close... he's not going to be throwing to wide open guys on the regular like in his film. I get your enthusiasm but I find myself right back in the place I was the past two years... If it's to the point where a true freshman is playing, your team sucks. I said it about us when we played White. I actually knew we'd have to play him because all we had was Matt Floyd (who I knew sucked) and Bobby Eveld (who was a great guy and leader but not much of a QB AT ALL). Kean will redshirt because the guys in front of him are far more ready at this point than he is. Also you keep ragging on Flowers. Not only was the kid a higher rated recruit than Kean, actually our highest rated QB signee ever, he can do a lot more than Kean can. He's a better football player and for this offense, a power spread much like Auburns, Flowers is the better fit. I equate Kean with Bench when he first got here. I don't know if you want to lose, but playing Kean as a true freshman would ensure we lose. Everyone and their mother knows Flowers is likely going to be the starter. I watched him in the spring and he improved tremendously. With the work those guys have been putting in since spring ball and over the summer, that guy will be ready. I think he's going to have some growing pains but I also think he, Mack, Johnson, and Tice are going to put on a show if that Oline is as good as I think they can be.
  2. Fencesitter violation. Hehe... I really have no idea what will happen. I thought for sure we would go to a bowl game last year and we didn't so I would rather be pleasantly surprised this time. I am hoping all these offensive coordinators can rub together a first down or two. I am curious... why did you think we would make a bowl last year?
  3. How on earth do you think that? Our OOC is definitely easier FAMU < Western Carolina Syracuse < NC State Maryland < Maryland (lost most of their offensive production) FSU = Wisconsin Now in conference: UCF lost most of their defense and all of their WRs... ECU lost their QB, RB, and best ever WR... Memphis lost the RB that burned us last year... Instead of Houston we get Temple... which U Conn is U Conn... Cincy is Cincy... SMU is SMU... Navy replaces Tulsa... this might be the only one where we get 'harder' Therefore: The schedule is easier... The team is better... USF will go to a bowl at 7-5. FSU>Wisc Memphis 2015>Memphis 2014 Best QB in Conf Temple 2015>Houston 2014 - Best D in Conf UCONN - almost never win there Cincy- fav to win Conf Navy > Tulsa as you noted UCF and ECU are toss ups at best Last, "how" have we exactly improved from last year? I do hope your optimism is correct. I am so tired of being let down by this coach and all of the BS he preaches. Memphis lost 8 starters on defense. How can you honestly say they are better than last season. They lost their best WR also. True, maybe I was being too easy on them. However, from my understanding (following their board), many of their replacements did have "significant" playing time. Also, their defensive system (coaches) are still in tack. I don't think they are a program that can simply reload on D but I don't think they will drop too far. My greatest concern is still their QB. I get you but as we know from personal experience, it's hard to replace those parts.

  5. I say we go bowling and we finish winning better than 7 games. I think the team is finally ready talent, size, and experience wise at a lot of positions. I think the offensive line will be much better and Mack, Johnson, and Tice will be a formidable backfield. Flowers will be running the read option a lot and the onus of winning games will not be on his arm, though I believe he should have a decent season now that we have a complete WR corps. We've upgraded overall. I really can't see how anyone could reasonably have expected the past two teams to make it to a bowl, that to me was delusional. I think this season a bowl and a seven plus win season is possible. Memphis lost everyone just about, ECU lost all of their offensive play makers, to include the QB, Syracuse was just as terrible, if not worst, than we were last season and has a young inexperienced team (that resembles us going into last season), Uconn should be a win as should SMU, FAMU should be an easy win, ucf is in rebuild mode and I think we should beat them this season, Temple and Navy are winnable games. I just see a few more wins. I think at worst we finish 6-6. I've seen improvement in the players in terms of size and skill. My only real unknown is how they come together and perform with Flowers at QB... I have faith that this team will turn it around this year. I know I wasn't the only one who thought last season would suck. I mean all of the signs were there but I guess nobody looked for them.
  6. He can't be serious. I mean why would anyone actually believe that?
  7. I get that. Maryland also lost all of it's defensive linemen and LBs from one of the better defenses they've had recently. I just think this is a year where you look at our schedule and many of the teams lost key player and/or players in big numbers. It seems like a very winnable schedule and unlike most, I liked what I saw in spring ball. I mean the scrimmage wasn't a scoring festival but they played good defense, limited fumbles (which went unnoticed it seems), the running game looks to be on track, and Flowers is not the same guy I saw last season. I think he's catching up to his talent, and I think he has a lot of talent (that kid is going to kill with his legs). I'm optimistic... This reminds me of the USF teams type teams we had during my freshman year... actually this team reminds me of the 2006 team.
  8. The optimism is awesome. I see FAMU as the only guaranteed win. Until we see how we do against them it's all fun speculation. And we have 108 days to speculate. Guarantee is even a bit strong imo. I think it's the only game we are highly likely to win. It's my stone cold lock of the year and I'm giving it away for free. If you want more picks you'll have to call my 900 number! Sticking to those guns. I like your style hombre, I also say that game is a lock. <--- I literally just discovered these.
  9. I like this kid's optimism. Or whatever they are smoking The optimism is awesome. I see FAMU as the only guaranteed win. Until we see how we do against them it's all fun speculation. And we have 108 days to speculate. I mean I'm optimistic because I know a lot of teams on our schedule lost a lot from last year. Maryland, Memphis, ECU, Temple, and ucf. Whether people want to admit it or not, USF was a three year project. We were terrible. Those young guys got thrown out into the fire early and they responded. I think with the amount of talent we recruited, coupled with their experience now, we should be able to win some games. I just think given the system and the guys, we'll be a lot better. I've not thought this since 2009, which to me was the last season we played like anything resembling a USF team. The Holtz years were trash, even the year we beat Clemson. They had been made soft that year. That team should have won the conference. So my optimism is coming after 5 years of calling BS on others expectations. I finally will agree with those guys now, I really think this is the year things turn around. I like this team. But I do get the pessimism.
  10. Mike White was loyal with good high school film and a state title. Loyalty is seen in every class by recruits so I'm not exactly sure what you mean. He's not doing anything other recruits haven't done. The dude is a freshman and there is a 99% chance he redshirts, which he needs to do.
  11. FAMU - WIN FSU - LOSS UMD - WIN (I don't think they got significantly better than last season and we still should have won that game) Memphis - WIN (they lost 8 guys on defense and a few on offense. I just don't think the defense is going to be like it was) Syracuse - WIN UCONN = WIN SMU - WIN Navy - LOSS (I think we could potentially have problems with the option they run and it's at Navy) ECU - WIN (I just think we'll be a better team) Temple - WIN Cincy - LOSS UCF - WIN
  12. Kean is going to redshirt. I just read this thing about "unreal expectations" on another thread. I found that interesting.
  13. I'd imagine if we start winning more games, we'd start seeing more guys getting drafted. I'm happy we had two guys, no matter how late the rounds, drafted because it looks good to potential recruits. But winning and player development helps a lot. I honestly think in the positions other than QB, we've seen some. I think guys are getting better and Cliett is a good demonstration of that. Reiter also, as I remember when he was 275 pounds when Taggart first got here. Cliett could never seem to get over 210. Good for those guys. I now hope that Flowers shows the development that Mike White and Bench did not.
  14. Yeah.... If Ruben develops, we should have a decent team. Looking at what we have coming back and what we are adding, we should see a lot better play than we saw last season. I like the way the roster is unfolding, I hope it translates to wins on the court. I'm most excited to see Perry. If he is really that good, it should open things for other guys on the team.
  15. That's who was missing this spring. I'm curious also so count me amongst the memory challenged. Does anyone know what the story is with him? I thought he was a solid guy though I think he'd do much better in this 4-3 than he did in the 3-4.
  16. I'm with you. I've not seen Kean throw a single pass yet so I don't know if he has the most upside or not. I remember there was a time when some USF fans thought Matt Floyd had more "upside" than B.J. Daniels. If I go by the only thing that I can go by and compare their recruiting rankings, it seems Flowers has the most upside. Basing on what I saw in the spring practices, Flowers is going to be the guy this year. Unless he gets hurt, Kean will not see the field. He'll likely redshirt as he should. It's crazy what people want. The past two years were likely anomalies due to lack talent, experience, and/or depth. Besides, Flowers is better than Kean right now. He will be for a while. Those fans were morons. Some of them remain morons. Were there really such fans? Yup... Following Floyd's first spring game. There were also people who thought Eveld should have been starting. I'm not sure what they were saying on the blogs here but on TBT sight, that's all they talked about. It's when that guy Greg Auman was covering us. I think that was the 2011 spring game in regards to the Floyd chatter. Right now Flowers is our best QB. He is going to start this season. He's probably going to have a pretty good year also. For what it appears Taggart wants to do, he's also our best option. That kid has a ton of talent. Wasn't Floyd's first Spring game the one where he fumbled like a hundred times? ..... and the knucklehead ratio on GA's blog's message board was a lot higher than here .... Sorry, Jupe. Nope... Matt was an early enrollee. He eventually redshirted but he was throwing a bunch of deep balls his first spring. He threw and int that game, but he connected on a few balls he put up for grabs. Actually I have to correct myself. That was the first green white game they had in the old soccer field. When Darrel Scott participated for the first time, and sprang an ankle. That spring game he did put the ball down once and I think threw an int. I can't remember. But the old Auman articles are probably still up, I'm sure those guys left some opinions there.

  19. He's taking AP classes ... Bingo academically he's going into his junior year.
  20. ya, me too, has the biggest upside IMO. But I'm perfectly willing to entertain starting SB if he proves out. Actually Brett Kean has the best upside I wouldn't know, I haven't seen him run a single play yet. I'm with you. I've not seen Kean throw a single pass yet so I don't know if he has the most upside or not. I remember there was a time when some USF fans thought Matt Floyd had more "upside" than B.J. Daniels. 21. We had a terrible season last year but there is no doubt in my mind this team will be better next season. I mean guys like Troy and Bo will have that year under them and Peters is eligible. We're in a good place. We had a great recruiting class and I think Guerrero is going to be stud. So I wouldn't say we are really really bad. Guys were learning how to play college basketball. I mean we got quite a few good players from other teams in the past that ended up doing well at USF... a lot of schools do that. Sometimes it pans out and sometimes it doesn't.
  22. He's likely redshirting. He wouldn't be ready right away. No true freshman really ever does good his first year and I'm pretty sure Taggart isn't banking this season on a guy who has not even taken a college snap anymore. That to me just doesn't seem plausible unless there is some sort of injury. We are going in with Flowers and Bench. Kean to me needs to redshirt. Sorry but CWT won't be afraid to burn his redshirt if he has to. CWT is coaching this season as there is no tomorrow. He will play the best QB And that's why he is redshirting.
