  1. I like your confidence but you know who else won a state title in high school? Mike White. We all know how that turned out. Yea, but he predicted it and to be honest, he is just waaay better then Mike White. i think mike white has a stronger arm, but not as quick a throw or delivery as Kean. And even though it doesnt guarantee success, winning a state title is still a lot of work and determination, so not sure how you make it seem like it's not an accomplishment lol Kean won one in Ohio Division 1. That's like middle school in Florida. Mike White's was 3A. Watch the video highlights and see for yourself. I remember watching Flowers footage and knew he would suck, Kean has a way quicker release, You could insult his division all you want but just remember this post when he balls during the regular season. If he's so good, why did he make his parents move to Ohio to avoid competition with White? He moved to Ohio because he had to change schools it had nothing to do with football, also Sean White transfered into University School so he would not have gotten the start until his senior year Kean moved to ohio his senior year and got that school a championship. Sean White wouldnt of started over him if he stayed his senior year. Kean would have never started over Sean. Look on Auburn's roster and that is where you find Sean White. He transfer into University School his senior year, if Kean was the guy why did Sean go to University School? Come on your better than that!!! Kean is going to redshirt. Flowers is going to go ham this season and we will be over .500. He'll sit and wait, hopefully after Flowers and Woulard are gone he'll get some reps. That's if we don't recruit another QB better than him which is what is likely to happen.
  2. I think you may be on to something. Barr and Antoine have made him expendable
  3. This is better than anything I've seen in the past. This along with the TV show that follows the program. The production is excellent and also it actually appears to be well though out. I like it and it's all coming from Harlan, who I also like.
  4. FIU beat FAU........and both prob would've beaten USF last year. I don't think you realize just how bad USF was last year. Seriously, about 6 or 7 plays was the difference between 4-8 and 0-12. Even still, USF looked like crap in all 4 of those wins There is no way USF was "6 or 7" plays from 0-12... USF was no where near losing WCU and U Conn (and the rain makes everyone look like crap)... SMU was the only game where we were one play from losing - but White engineered two great dries to win the game... Tulsa it took some time, but that second half was a thing of beauty. USF was also exactly three plays from 6-6... so USF was not "BAD" ... USF was inexperienced (as the 2nd or 3rd overall youngest team in FBS) and had problems with focus (hence so many dumb penalties)... and because our OL could not protect the QB, teams simply stacked the box against the run. Uh... I know it's been awhile since the season, but we were 6 or 7 plays from 0-12. We beat WCU by 5. Take away 1 of Mack's long TD runs we might lose. We beat SMU by 1. Took a miracle last second play (which could've been offensive PI), take away that 1 play that's another loss. We beat UCONN by 3. Take away Mike White's 30 yard TD pass and we settle for a FG we lose by 1. This was a weird game, we did dominate it, but still. We beat Tulsa by 8 in a frantic comeback. Take away 2 plays in that game and we lose. We were bad and inexperienced. Anyone in a dog fight with SMU, Tulsa, and UConn in the same year is a bad team. In all fairness, if you're going to use that measure this team was 5 or 6 plays away from .500. I mean outside of NC state, Houston, and Cinci,... USF was in ever other game. A couple they just could have easily won had they been more consistent. While I have been critical of the team, they did not play so bad that there weren't any bright spots. They were young and inexperienced at just about every skill position. So while they could have been 0-12, they could have also been 6-6... but in actuality they were where they should have been 4-8. I bet they are better than .500 this season though and despite of what happened in the past, when they cross that threshold of an above .500, we will all appreciate it that much more. Even the most adamant critic will give us props.
  5. I actually like it. A few of my friends have sent it to me now. So far my friends, alumni and a couple of current students, like it.
  6. We were what we should have been last season, a bad football team. I'm not sure where this things turn around overnight fantasy everyone seemed to have had came from, but the team two years ago was terrible, last season they were bad, this year they should be good. Anyone with half a wit could see this team would have struggled to get to .500 last season. It's actually been that way for quite a long time around here but I guess that's now just a distant memory. But right now as I see this team, they should be pretty good this season. I have been down on them since 2011. I knew we were heading into the suck just by looking at who was coming in versus who was leaving. Major talent drain 'and that don't get fixed in one/or even two recruiting classes. Taggart made his share of mistakes but just getting the foundation of the team back strong is more of an effort that any of us fans thinks. I mean I was hard on the guy that first year and this past season I began to lighten up. I can kinda get what's going on right now and to be fair, he had no support from the top. They just dumped a suck *butt program with little talent into his lap and said "fix it." I've seen big changes this spring. I've had a chance to see these guys up close and personal and I am convinced that this team is at least a 7 win team. I think we just got so use to seeing terrible teams that we may not recognize a good team if it slapped us.

I can't tell if you are serious or not. Kean is a good player but that statement is a little out there. Kean is going to redshirt and looking at the talent coming in I'm like, ok. I never count any guy out but to think he is a savior is not smart. He's never thrown a college pass and for someone so good, why did so many programs take a pass? Easy, he is better then Flowers and Bench. Plus we are loaded at receiver, tight end and running back. All we need is a quarterback that cam throw a half desent ball and Kean throws a much quicker and accurate ball then Flowers or Bench in additional to being able to run in which he runs a 4.7 40. He's not better than Flowers and a 4.7 is not that great. Kean is going to redshirt.

  9. I seriously think that people are underestimating this team this season and overestimated them the past two.
  10. I don't see it as an diss. I think it is correct based on our past 5 years and last season. Until USF proves they can win some games, we will be low on that list. We won four games last season. I don't care how good the recruiting class were/are, you have to play your way up the rankings. Once again I think people here expected way too much the past two seasons. We sucked the first year because we had absolutely NO TALENT... in actuality that was a 0-12 team. There is no doubt that if Skip came back and coached, that team would have gone 0-12. We were lucking to get those two wins. Last season we had a little talent and we were just about ALL YOUTH. The skill positions were all Freshman and sophs. 4 to 5 wins are expected from a team like that. This season you start to see a lot more talent with experience ready. This team should be good for 7-8 wins. Say what you want... the offense had some moments last season. They were just young and had just 1 play maker, Mack. But towards the end of the season they played better. I recall a Memphis them putting up good numbers. I mean they were young, I think this season they put it together. We will play our way up those rankings. We aren't going to be a top 25 team.... but we can muster up 7 wins this season.
  11. He was dismissed for academic reasons from USF is what I heard. They placed him there in hopes that he will return to USF but we know how that goes. At least it is at the deepest position though. I don't think this affects the defense too much at all this upcoming season.
  12. Taggart didn't begin either of the first two seasons calling plays. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm correct. Each season he took over play calling duties midway through the season. For me, I don't mind him calling plays. I guess that stems from where I was when he first got here. I do recall everyone thinking he would come in and be some sort of savior, I just laughed at that. We were a terrible team. I'm not sure if anyone could call plays with what we had then. Marcus Shaw was our starting RB and we had a 275 pound center (Reiter) and a totally weak and soft offensive line... I won't mention Bobby and Matt. I remember laughing at some of the cazy predictions on twitter, it really was hilarious. We were starting a walk-on corner, who was not good. Durden was a starting corner smh. I thought that team would be lucky to win 2 games and that is exactly what they did. Last season they finished about where I thought. I thought they'd win 5 games, if things went right. I think anyone who thought they would win more last season didn't take into consideration how young the team was. I mean I'm as big of fan as anyone but I'm realistic about what I expect. This season I see them winning 7-8 games. I think they really do have a shot at 8 wins. I'm actually excited about this season. This is the first time I think we have a good shot at winning some games. Now everyone else seems to be going in the other direction. I find that funny. Back on topic though... I would not be surprised to see the offense have a huge turnaround this season. I think Mack will likely rush for more than 1,500 yards and the offense will go as he and Flowers legs go. Play calling becomes easier when you have play makers and we finally have some.
  13. We have redshirted a lot of players. It may not seem like it because we have also played more freshman than any program should have to have played. Some of those burnt redshirts will serve us well this year, they know what to expect going in. But we've redshirted Bronson, Bayes, Knox, McCants, Jackson, Nichols, Wilkins, Dillon, Brown and quit a few others from last seasons class. But I'm not bothered by having had burn a redshirt or not because we had no talent in front of those guys. I would have loved to see a ton of redshirts, but we didn't. We saw more last year than the previous year, and I'd suspect we will see more next year. I don't get why people are so bothered about having had burned someone's redshirt when the veterans in front of them sucked. The Freshmen I want to see: 1) McCants, he looks to be fully recovered from his acl surgery and has done all the summer workouts and drills. At the start of spring ball Taggart was raving about him and I've always thought that kid was one of those impact guys, just plays at a different speed than everyone else. 2) Gibbons, If Gibbons is as advertised and can lock up one of those tackle spots, we can have a really good offense. (I think he and Bethel could bookend a good line) 3) DL Keven Bronson, I think he can be really good. 4) I group these two but remember these names, one will not redshirt ( Deangelo Atoine/Chris Barr) Speed ... speed... more speed... so much speed!
  14. Wait... he broke the news that ucf offered Steve Masiello the job. Funny USF offered him a job too but it wasn't broken by Russ Wood. I guess these are two different events.
  15. I have to assume you've never seen either Flowers or Woulard play. Woulard is not that athletic.
  16. There is absolutely no reason to think a true freshman QB can win right away at the division 1 level. You can find a few exceptions, but not many at all. We viewed first hand what happens when you are dealing with true freshmen here and at other schools. And if you decide to name some, I'm willing to bet they were all higher ranked recruits than Kean. I watched his tape, he is good but he's not that good. I mean he has potential but I've seen A LOT of room for improvement and as the skill level goes up and the size of those windows close... he's not going to be throwing to wide open guys on the regular like in his film. I get your enthusiasm but I find myself right back in the place I was the past two years... If it's to the point where a true freshman is playing, your team sucks. I said it about us when we played White. I actually knew we'd have to play him because all we had was Matt Floyd (who I knew sucked) and Bobby Eveld (who was a great guy and leader but not much of a QB AT ALL). Kean will redshirt because the guys in front of him are far more ready at this point than he is. Also you keep ragging on Flowers. Not only was the kid a higher rated recruit than Kean, actually our highest rated QB signee ever, he can do a lot more than Kean can. He's a better football player and for this offense, a power spread much like Auburns, Flowers is the better fit. I equate Kean with Bench when he first got here. I don't know if you want to lose, but playing Kean as a true freshman would ensure we lose. Everyone and their mother knows Flowers is likely going to be the starter. I watched him in the spring and he improved tremendously. With the work those guys have been putting in since spring ball and over the summer, that guy will be ready. I think he's going to have some growing pains but I also think he, Mack, Johnson, and Tice are going to put on a show if that Oline is as good as I think they can be. Actually, I believe Carlton Hill was our highest rated signee ever. QF has the same rating as Mike White, Matt Floyd and Grothe ... Actually he had a higher rating than White, Floyd, and Grothe. He's listed as a high 3 star and the 261 best player on espn, Scout 4 star, 88.9 on 247 and one of the top dual threat guys. I don't recall White, Floyd, or Grothe rating higer and any of those and Hill wasn't. I'm going by what the school released during his recruiting, I'm not sure what you're going by. Rivals ... I think the only one that's been around for the better portion of our history. Well I use the ratings from every service because I find bias in each. I normally use scout, 247, and espn. Rivals is a little antiquated. I'm pretty sure that if you go to those three and do a little research, you will see that Hill and BJ were both higher rated than Flowers ..... still means that Q is up there, just not the most highly rated one we've ever gotten, and let's hope he's more like BJ than Hill. Yeah... I hope he's like a little more accurate BJ.
  17. I'm right there with you. It's funny that I find myself defending our Qb this season but I must say, it feels good. This is the first time I think we've had a legit guy since BJ left. I agree with you, I think he will have games where he goes ham.

I saw Flowers high school film and was never impressed. He has no arm and never will. Kean highlights looks waaay better. I value a quick release and his release is quicker than both quarterbacks. If you are talking about speed...Flowers runs a 4.5 40 and Brett Kean runs a 4.7, so he has a 2 second advantage, but no arm. And yes I will name a Freshman Quarterback who did it and that was Christian Hackenberg. As for Flowers and Bench, they both had opportunities. Hell I like that juco quarterback we have coming in better then Flowers, so he's my 2nd choice. In the end, we will just let things play out in August. I simply look at Keans offer list and wonder this, If he's so good, why wasn't he more heavily recruited? I mean there are some pretty good schools up that way. So every coach and scout is wrong in their assessment? Oh.. the difference between a 4.5 and a 4.7 is tremendous.... and it's not 2 seconds, it's .02 seconds faster and in the world of sports, that's a huge difference. I don't trust your evaluations because you seem to miss simple things. I mean you can be enthused about Kean but he's going to be redshirted this year because he's not nearly ready. Also there are other QBs with more talent coming in so that kid may actually never see the field except in cleanup.

  21. Does he have a ticket hookup? What game is he bringing us all to?
  22. I don't mind him coming. I mean we still got him in a way. He wouldn't have been ready when he was a freshman anyway, now we get a guy who has already learned to run the college spread and at worst we get a decent backup. I don't get why so many people take it personally. He chose UCLA... I mean it's not like it was that industrial office space college down the road. We still got him in the long run. Just can't play this year.

Make no mistake, Mike White transferred because of Flowers not Kean. When Flowers started taking all of the first team reps in spring ball he folded. He could read the writing on the wall. He had absolutely no reason at all to fear Kean, absolutely none.
