  1. White... It's been White since spring. Bench had a good spring GAME... not total spring. He was a pic six king for a minute there during spring ball. Most watched the spring game and thought that is how it went the entire time and no... White is clearly a much better QB than Bench is. Everything flows with that guy. He has a better arm and accuracy. People are talking like White had a really bad spring game... I think he was 19-25 175 yards or so. I can't remember. Bench had a great game but one game doesn't make up for the 70% of the time he's being outplayed. Bench is a solid backup. I actually can't believe it's a debate. He likely hasn't named one because he wants them both to keep elevating their play. Competition.... but he's about to end it. He'll name White I think today sometime. Or maybe the scrimmage tomorrow. He's looked really good during the closed scrimmage yesterday.... really good. I thought he would do it yesterday to be honest.
  2. So people went to the practice, got a look at things, came back to this thread so they could share the good news of a picture with everyone... wow someone can use the gallery. I mean correct me if I'm wrong. I really wish I was in Tampa right now to see at least something. Does anyone have a summary of the practice? What went right, wrong, and what they need to improve on.... or have or have not improved on? How did the WR look in your opinion? Are the RBs looking good? How's the speed on the defensive line? Any ends catch your eye? I mean those things are what I thought people would be discussing in a blog about the final open practice. This reads like something that would appear on an Ellen or Oprah blog... pictures .... smh
  3. Jupe, I wish that was the case, but from reliable sources that were at practice today, they pretty much had the same reviews on him that I witnessed yesterday. IMO, I don't think that I've ever seen a QB at this level - and with such a high recruit ranking - with such bad footwork, bad mechanics and poor arm strength as a QB. Yes, he could get stronger and coaches could work with him, but from what he's showed so far, I'd say that he does not have the natural mechanics of a Div-1 QB. At best, it will be some time before anyone should expect to see him as a someone who can lead this team - especially in this pro-style offense - or come in as a reserve if the #1 is injured. The best pure passer out there appears to be Evan Wilson. That too was reported back to me today from those I know who were out there, and from what I saw the last two days. Pearls of wisdom and "reliable sources" from someone following the team here since last Sept. I can't even be upset at that. Would be like being mad at a 1st grader. Kind of sounds like a jilted GF Give me a break. We pass over your son or what? R U Evan Wilsons Dad ? If your gonna quote a "source" please give it attribution. Don't think, kid's dad counts. SMH. Time to close practice back up. I think it's the kid's dad or something because I've heard differently.
  4. You musn't have come from a college football town, or maybe you weren't on the planet earth yet! Did not come from a college football town, and entered the world in late 1979. Cut my teeth on Florida State football in the late 80's, early 90s. Graduated from USF in 2004 and bought fully into the Bulls program while in college. I don't get the point you were trying to make. He's saying college football was just as popular before 1998 as it was after ... and I'm thinking he may have this one right. Actually if you look at rating, overall popularity, and the amount of people who watch college football GAUSFBull in right. While college football was indeed popular prior to the BCS era, the national popularity of college football did indeed rise in the BCS era. It had a lot to do with demographics, technology, media etc. I mean ratings are as high as they have ever been and the sport attracted new fan bases. College football did in deed get tremendously more popular in the BCS era. I don't even see how someone could argue it didn't. That's nonsensical.
  5. Coach Taggart has been pretty up front and clear with his words since coming to USF. He talked about the problems going into last year. I think this year he thinks the team is where they want it or should be. He never once uttered that last year so maybe he thinks the team is at least decent at this point. He keeps saying he's got a plan and sticking to it... so they are on schedule according to the plan.
  6. Well I can see I won't be on this board often. I mean I read through this entire thread and didn't see one response that actually was worth reading. Is this just a casual board or do they have serious fans here? I'm not trying to be a dck but it's hard to tell. I mean this thread doesn't bode well for attracting new people. Reads like ucif board.
