As excited as I am to see what the kid has... I just find it hard to stay excited given how bad our team actually is. We're 6-21 in our last 27 and probably soon to be 6-22 in our last 28 after tonight. Brutal.

I think we will have improvement next year. I could see us reasonably expecting to go 6-6 or 7-5 next year. You are right though to get to where we want to be will take 3 - 4 years of Taggart recruiting. Hopefully the Re Alignment bus holds off til then. Only way we go 6-6 or 7-5 next year is if Mike White is the real deal or Quinton Flowers stays committed and is the real deal. Taggart will bring in the talent. How he continues to get kids to want to come here is beyond me considering the state of our program. My question is can he coach them? His X's and O's coaching don't look very good thus far.

We've been in the opponents red zone 8 times in 7 games. How many of those times were against D2 Mcneese State?

USF going into Panic Mode since they know another 3-9 season is coming and they know they're going to lose even more season ticket holders.

It is all about the QB. If you have a good enough QB other very good players come because they want catch the ball from him, block for him, etc. Johnny Manziel is a perfect example at Texas A&M. Currently Texas A&M has the 5th best recruiting class according to Rivals. Last year they had the 11th best recruiting class according to Rivals. Both of these have come with Johnny Football as their QB. The previous 2 years... 2012 - 15th 2011 - 27th I know that now being in the SEC and a new coach who is a good recruiter plays a big role, but I think Manziel plays a huge role with recruits wanting to go play at Texas A&M to play with a Heisman Trophy Winner. Builds the talent and then with that type of player you obviously win games so I agree it only takes 1 player but I think it's a QB and an absolute stud not just a "good player".

Yet they beat UC and UConn ... I'm not easily embarrassed by things USF fans say (well, except for youknowwho) but that's a ******* ridiculous statement. Alright it's an exaggeration, but to be fair UConn probably isn't as good as FAU. And Cincy probably played the worst game they've played in 2 decades. I was talking about the "parallels" from 2009 to now. That our 2009 team playing their best could compete with just about anyone where that is not even close to the case with this team. I didn't mean it as a general statement. Dangerously close to winning Strawman Argument of the Week. No one compared the 2 teams. I simply stated (or thought I did) a few commonalities that are interesting in this view. How you somehow lept at me (or anyone) comparing the 2009 and 2013 is beyond comprehension. I hope you can agree that the few simple comps (while not a predictor to the outcome) are real. If not, I'm curious how you think they are not (unless we're beating parallel horses, and this gap just can't be closed). The comparison between the situations really just aren't that close... that's all. Our D Line is our strength and we're starting a freshman QB that's about as far as it goes. FSU was coming off a much more impressive win, were ranked, is a national powerhouse program, in state team, etc.

We can still finish 4-8 and by no means have we ever clicked on all cylinders. We can also still finish 7-5. Neither will happen.

*sigh*. I wasn't comparing Houston to FSU or the 2013 Bulls to the 2009 Bulls. And Taggart isn't Leavitt. I get it. There are common circumstances that I find interesting, and made no prediction the results would be replicated. Side note: That FSU finished unranked, with a win over WVU in the Gator Bowl (finished 7-6, fired Bowden). Our team that Bulls24 says could play with anyone in the country lost 5 of 7, including a 31-0 beating at Rutgers, a 41-14 thrashing by Pitt and a 31-10 dismantling by Miami. I know it's great to embellish the past, but the 2009 likely doesn't beat FSU again in a rematch that year in Tally. The stars aligned. The team rose to the challenge. All that said, see the parallels or don't...I just think it's cool to see a new QB on the road, against the odds, maybe repeat history a bit. When I said that team could compete with anyone in the country I didn't mean they were so good that we were a top 10 team. On any given Saturday that team could compete/play with just about any team in the country when clicking on all cylinders. This team we have now playing at their absolute very best for an entire game wouldn't even be able to beat FAU.

I guess reading isn't one of your strong points. I was merely posting some interesting parallels from the 2009 game v FSU. I clearly said (to most able readers) that I am not calling for an upset. I don't like our chances...but I've learned to rarely say "never" about this program. I was at Tally for the game. Fans were almost congenial, apologizing for the whipping we were about to take at the hands of their Noles, fresh off a blow out of #7 ranked BYU (AT BYU!). They weren't sweating us at all. Then, Lejieste "pop heard 'round the world" hushed the crowd. Again, I'm NOT saying this team is as good as the 2009 (who, by the way, lost the next 5 of 7, and limped into a Canadian bowl few cared about...not exactly untouchable legends). But I did think some of the parallels were interesting...and that some fans might want to read something other than "woe is me, we're dead". The parallels are not nearly what you're making them out to be.

You must be out of your mind. The team we had then could compete and play with any team in the country. The team we have now clicking on all cylinders would be a 4-8 team.

More ties to awful competition.... I guess we belong in that boat at this point though.

Stanford has the history, program tradition, conference, etc. to get the players needed in order for this type of offense to be successful. Obviously I don't think this style offense will continue to be this bad for us but I don't see this style of offense at USF being a top 50 offense in college football for however long Taggart is here. Highest ranking Taggart had in total offense at WKU was like 75 or something like that. Stanford was terrible for years before harbaugh I didn't say they have been a power house of college football every year for the last century. I said they have Tradition (BCS appearances and wins, had a team since the 1890s, 2 National Championships), A Heisman Trophy Winner, NFL hall of fame players as alumni (John Elway, James Lofton, Ernie Nevers), many more in the college football Hall of Fame, and are in a AQ big time Conference.

Willie Taggart's baby is this offense. He wants to be in control and will be. I would love to see a top offensive mind come in and run our offense, however that would cost money and since we're paying Holtz $500,000 a year for the next 5 years (Thanks Woolard) it's not even close to affordable.

True, that makes sense. Again I think lack of talent is the main/majority reason why our offense is as bad as it is. But with that being said, I find it hard to believe that every single player on our offense is completely incompetent to execute play calls this far into a season. A few plays here and there sure, but 12 straight quarters? Can't buy into that.

Did you watch today? Eveld just doesn't get the football out of his hands. The offense actually moved a bit with Bench but we had a fumble in the Red zone. In short with Eveld the passing game was non existent, looked better with a less than100% bench, and we will see what it looks like with White. We don't need Peyton Manning just some one that can get the football out quickly and accurately with out turning it over. We just need Alex Smith type QB play WE DON'T HAVE AN OFFENSIVE TD IN THE LAST 12 QUARTERS OF FOOTBALL NOW or something absolutely ridiculous. I don't care what kind of talent you're working with that is hard to do. If you don't think scheme or play calling has anything to do with it you're not watching. These same players were terrible without BJ last season in that scheme too. I think between that and this season all signs point to the offenses as a whole just not having enough talent and not the scheme. You can put these players in any scheme you want it's going to be a dumpster fire no matter what due to a lack of talent. I don't get why this is so hard for some to admit. It's an absolute fact that the majority of the issues on our offense is the lack of talent and I think that is widely accepted at this point, but going 12 straight quarters without a TD is atrocious. Either play calling or scheme absolutely has to take some of the blame. I am not saying its 50%, heck maybe its 5% or 10%, maybe its 20% I don't know, but some of the blame goes there. There are plenty of teams that have awful talent all over the field that sit in the cellar dweller of college football every season that can still find a way to score an offensive TD a game...

Maybe he wasn't ready yet. I am all for this move. Get him some experience for next year and maybe we don't have to go through this again. 2-1 in-conference is not a lost season. He wasn't ready according to CWT, but Bench & Eveld are not 100%, and Floyd just can't handle pressure. Hopefully White's a gamer, I like that CWT isn't giving up, trying to at least get to a bowl. I guess at the end of the day that's what Taggart has to have his mind set as and make everyone think that is his mindset. Any realist or fan who actually watches this team knows there is no chance at a conf championship or bowl game regardless of Mike White being the next best QB in college football history or not.

Just because someone attends USF for school does not automatically make them a USF football fan.. They have to become a fan and that happens by winning games and being able to watch exciting football. Not only do we not win, we don't score points. You won't see students or other fans in the seats until one or both of these happen.

These stats scream out that actual scheme is part of the problem not just lack of talent.

Absolute ridiculous panic move by Taggart. This season is OVER. In my eyes it was over before this game started. Trying another QB is not going to solve the issues USF has in this offense. Everything about this offense is the issue. From scheme to oline, to rbs that are healthy, to TEs, to lack of playmakers, to WRs, to anything and everything involved in this offense. Let White continue to learn the offense/playbook in practice. I like a small piece of this as someone mentioned before. Taggart is showing he has the approach of if you're not producing you're not playing which is the way it should be. However, you still should take things into account like how far into the season we are, is the last 5 games of the season worth the kid losing a year of eligibility, etc. Instead.. We're going to throw this freshman out there and continue to get absolutely destroyed, but hey I'm sure that'll do wonders for his confidence, right?

That is true it is about time. 34 years to beat their first legit ranked team? Wow. As bad as it gets for us I'll have comfort in knowing it can never be that bad. They beat Memphis, ranked #13 a few years back. They ended the season ranked, something USF has never done. They beat Houston who was so overrated it was embarrassing to the college football world at the time. Tough for me to count that. I don't mean count it as a win I mean count it as something worth noting. What is the criteria for a legit ranked team? Was #2 ranking USF got in 2007 not legit since they didn't finish the season at #2 or ranked period? Fair question. I guess I meant a top program.
